SUBJECT
Purchase of a New Vacuum Jet Rodder Truck
BACKGROUND
The combination vacuum jet rodder truck is used to maintain the sewer collection system and to support the
stormwater system during heavy rain storms.
EVALUATION PROCESS
The purchase of the vacuum jet rodder truck is available utilizing the Texas Local Government Purchasing
Cooperative BuyBoard contract number 430-13 awarded to Southwest International Trucks for the chassis and
BuyBoard contract number 421-13 awarded to Kinloch Equipment and Supply for the Vactor equipment parts.
Southwest International Trucks will contract with Kinloch Equipment and Supply for the complete installation or
the Vactor body parts on the rodder truck. Arturo Quijano Fleet & Building Maintenance Superintendent and Alberto
Ramos, Assistant Fleet & Building Maintenance Superintendent, evaluated the two contracts and concurred with
Purchasing to recommend final award to Southwest International Trucks in the amount of $334,379.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
Sufficient funds are available in account number 1213-060, and the funding source is the Improvement Fund.
PROPOSED ACTION REQUESTED
Approve the purchase of a 2015 International 7600 SFA 6x4 Vacuum Jet Rodder Truck to Southwest International
Trucks, Incorporated, through the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative BuyBoard contracts numbers
430-13 and 421-13 in the amount of $334,379.
