We invite you to join us, in a weekend of events, to celebrate our commitment to unity on
Union. Beginning with our first annual Community 5K, at 10 A.M. ON SATURDAY, APRIL 2,
2016, which will include runners and non-runners alike, and will feature a one mile and three
mile non-timed run, to begin at Lindenwood and commence through Union Avenue, East
Parkway, Poplar, Hollywood/Alicia, and Madison. We will also have a Post-Run Party with
food, local bands, and activities for families to enjoy. On Sunday, April 3, 2016, we are inviting the Memphis community to join us for the historic installation of our first AfricanAmerican female pastor.
We wish to donate a significant portion of the participant fees to the benefactor for this
event, the Mid-South Food Bank, to support their efforts to feed insecure children, families,
and seniors in thirty-one counties.
If you would like to support this race, you can help in several ways:
 Participate in the race
 Volunteer in the planning or race day activities
 Invite your family, friends, and co-workers
 Check with work or others about being a sponsor for the race

The theme for VBS is “CAVE QUEST”. Go spelunking through dark
caves with Jesus as your light at Cave Quest VBS! Kids learn Jesus is
the one who lights our way and gives us hope for each new day. His
love illuminates when the path is dark. Cave Quest VBS encourages
kids to follow Jesus where ever he will lead them.
VBS is for ages K thru 5th grade. We need volunteers to teach,
shepherd and help with set design. Please call David Johnson at 3519902 if you can help. Thanks!!
