A true jazz marathon is brewing and will take
place in Bansko between 8 and 13 August.
Concerts are to take place on two venues, at
noon and later in the evening, but, as is the
custom, entry will be free. The official opening is set for 8 August with performances by
Bianca Morales and the Big Band of BNR.
That night will also see Antonio Flinta Quartet and Yildiz Ibrahimova & band. For the
remaining festival nights, the open-air stage
at the Nikola Vaptsarov square will give you
Benny Golson with Kelag Big Band (USA/
Austria), Axel Zwigenberger & Lila Ammons
(Germany/USA), Bulgaria’s Stoyan Yankulov,
Hristo Yotsov, Kamelia Todorova, Vasil Petrov
and host of other top class performers from
France, the UK, Israel and more.
More jazz music stars are expected in Varna.
The three-day Funkophone Fest will debut
this year toward the end of August in the
Summer Theatre. Among the best picks of
the lineup are Incognito and Brooklyn Funk
Essentials. Incognito was founded in 1979.
Two years later, their debut album Jazz Funk
was released and made Top 30 for 2 months.
Their next project, Tribes, Vibes & Scribes
remained for 16 whole weeks in Top 25 of
Billboard’s Modern Jazz Chart. Positivity
(1993), on the other hand, was their first
original compositions release which attained
gold and silver sales status in 11 countries
around the world. Brooklyn Funk Essentials
were founded in the early 1990s. They are
one of the iconic names of the New York
club scene.

WHAT HAPPENED
T
he Frenchman Philip Jacque, who
became famous for his tour around the
world on his Fidele bicycle was a guest at
the Day is Wonderful show on bTV. He even
received a marriage proposal on air from the
host Iva Dojchinova, who confessed being
captivated by men-adventurers. “You are
exactly my type. Will you marry me,” asked
Iva. Philip Jacque is single, so her chances are
good enough. Moreover, Bulgaria is the only
country in the world where he has bought
a house. On his first visit here the traveler
fell in love with the village of Zheravna and
invested his money there without hesitation.
“My only love is my bicycle. In French the
word is in feminine. We have been together
for 25 years,” admitted Philip. He also
presented his book about his last journey
– from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego across
the whole of America. “The real journey is
inside,” claims the Frenchman, whose next
project is to traverse the globe, writing the
Complex, Sunny Beach, is the first host of
the dance show sea version. The girls from
Ballet NOVA will have a guest appearance
with Galia & Saten in a breathtaking DANCE
SHOW – SEX & The BEACH to the sounds of
DJ Pacho. The dancers will be inflaming sea
fantasies with a striking choreography and
trendy vision, created by the lately much
commented designer Iskren Lazarov, winner
of the world award for young designers with
his model for Triumph. The culmination
of the night will provoke a real tsunami
of fervour with an attractive acrobatic
pole dance. The stage for the dancing
performance will be the swimming pool and
will offer spectacular lighting effects and
setting. The VIP guests of Bedroom Beach
will also have the opportunity to enjoy the
performance of an ex rhythmic gymnast, who
will carry out an acrobatic pylon dance.
The first sea party at BEDROOM BEACH is on
10 July, followed by 6 August.
GIRL OF THE MONTH
My channel will be exactly for them. This
television will be for those, who do their
best, work hard, and make nice music and
videos; it will be for the audience, wishing
to enjoy high-quality music. There are no
limits in terms of style. Each song, whether
it is pop folk, pop, Greek, Serbian, rap, R&B,
hip-hop – if the audience likes it and wants it
we will broadcast it,” explained her concept
Desislava. The music channel had a test
start on 6 June, but its official opening and
introduction will be in September. “In the
beginning the television will broadcast just
music, and subsequently there will be charts,
various music and entertaining shows.” This
is the youngest music television – better
give it a chance and support the efforts
of sponsors and organizers, so it can have
a good start and, after the world football
championship emotions, offer some comfort
with nice and high-grade music. “Don’t think
it is easy. I have invested lots of hard work
and resources, and sincerely hope that things
will go well. The work does not scare me and
I won’t get cross with you, if you flood me
with nice songs and new videos,” announced
Desi with a smile.
The singer Desislava surprised everyone
with her brave move to set up a television of
her own. The medium is called DS TV and is
named after her: “As Dragana Mirkovic has
her own television, DM Sat, so I decided to
name mine after me – DS”, explained her
choice the blonde beauty. She revealed that
lots of willingness, lots of work and exactly
eight months were necessary to fulfill the
project. DS TV appeared in response to
the boycott of the other music channels to
broadcast Desi’s videos.

Besides his super successful hits and even
more increasing popularity, Toni Storaro
has one more reason for joy. His elder son,
Fiki, has been admitted in Liubomir Pipkov
National School of Music, Pop and Jazz
Singing Profile, and with excellent results
at that. The top star of Diapason Records is
especially delighted by the fact that his son
has turned to music all by himself. “I have
let both my children to choose their paths in
life by themselves. I haven’t pushed them on
in any way to turn to singing, but they both
wanted to be engaged with music. Of course,
I fully support their choices,” was explicit
The Man-with-the-voice. Fiki, who obviously
inherited his father’s gift, did not hesitate
at all what kind of school to apply for. Toni
Storaro’s elder son made up his mind to
go in for the exams after his eighth grade
independently.
His vocal skills were highly estimated and he
was admitted with the best results in Pop and
Jazz Singing Profile. The celebrity father does
not hide his delight with the success of his
heir. “I am very happy that he has chosen to
go in for music, because he is really talented.
I don’t say it because he is my son, but
because it is actually true. And the fact that,
at these difficult exams, he’s been given the
highest possible mark is significant,” does
not hide his pride the performer of the song
“Dvete Sladurani”. The singer of the year
foresees a brilliant future for his heir, Fiki,
even though the boy is only just taking his
first professional steps. “The best wish I can
send to him is to surpass my success,” added
Toni Storaro.

About the Connection
Between Automobiles and Bikini
Or how Louis Reard came to stay in history
%

%
I
t sounds like a ridiculous anecdote,
but the first bikini in the world was
created by an automobile engineer by
the name of Louis Reard. The humble
man with horn-rimmed glasses often
observed the women in his mother’s shoe
shop, but even more often did he examine
them outdoors – around the streets,
restaurants and beaches. And it was
exactly at the seaside where Louis Reard
noticed that ladies have the funny habit of
rolling up their excessively long bathing
suits in order to get an even tan.
impudent bikini, and the Vatican came
out with a decree, stigmatizing their use.
And the ironic Englishmen called Reard’s
creation “the first anatomic bomb in the
world.”
No wonder, for the year was 1946 and even
for the most daring housewives, walking
along the beach in such a toilet meant
madness. In fact Reard found it difficult
to even convince a model to represent his
new creation. After dozens of attempts
and mannequins’ refusals, he came upon
a night bar dancer named Micheline
Bernardini. She gladly agreed to swing
around her sensuous body at Piscine
Molitor in Paris in order to demonstrate
the new swim suit. Parading with a triangle
of 70 cm was not a problem for her at all,
but it blew up the public opinion and in no
time the news about the scandalous suit
spread all over the world. After the fashion
show, Bernardini herself received more
than 50 000 letters from suitors, as well as
several marriage proposals.
In this instant a revolutionary idea has
struck him – like sunstroke in sweltering
August heat. What if he created a new
kind of bathing suit – much scantier and
consisting of two pieces? And what if he
named it after the small Pacific atol Bikini,
where the Americans had tested atomic
bombs?
It’s a pity, but bikini did not achieve such
a success. Mankind had to wait another 20
years before ladies venture to exchange the
loose panties for several triangles, barely
covering their private parts. In the years
following World War II, naked flesh still
shocked people and it was not until 1970s
when the situation changed in favour
of “the world’s smallest bathing suit,” as
Reard called it.
What if? Here’s the answer: an explosion
of a terrifying scandal that burst in
Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, and
most European countries. That instant
the indignant puritans prohibited the
Actually, popularizing the bikini started
much earlier. Its instigator was France and,
to be more specific, the director of the film
“And God Created Woman” - Roger Vadim.

Bardot walked along the beach in Reard’s

crazy about her sex appeal. However,
women were still embarrassed to wear the

first one to do this was the sinful Ursula

cover and one sexy blonde whom all the
ladies wanted to look like. Her name was
Marilyn Monroe, and history taught us
that as soon as she dressed something
and took a walk in front of the public’s
stupefied eyes, millions of her female
admirers followed her suit.
Next in the row of celebrities who slipped
their young and lewd bodies into the
scanty pieces of cloth, were James Bond’s
girls, of course. Being a symbol of sexual
provocation, they established the bikini
once and for all, as the only and most
effective means against swelter. The

Welch and her leopard fur suit – again in
the James Bond motion picture series.
With this train of thought, it is probably
useless to mention that Louis Reard made
an enormous pile, and not by designing
automobiles at that. Thanks to his audacity
and several pieces of cloth, he became not
only a millionaire, but remained in the
history of fashion forever. It’s a paradox
that he grew rich by actually saving up
material and instead of seven parts, offered
only two.

TREND
The Colours of Milan
In men’s clothing, the
leading trend is the
black & white combination
Т
This year’s shows in the world’s fashion capital served
up the new collections for 2011. The fall colours are no
longer a secret. In men’s clothing, the leading trend is
the black & white combination. These two colours rubbed
shoulders in the collections by Calvin Klein and the
greatest innovator of all – Salvatore Ferragamo. Head-totoe black & white is what Emporio Armani had to offer, too.
Gucci went for the contrast between white trousers matching dark
jackets in navy blue, chocolate, and dark cherry. The leitmotiv seems
to be bright tropical fruit colours. Beyond any doubt, yellow rules – in
trousers, shirts, bags, moccasins, and coats alike. Suits come in blue and
brownish hues. Men with free-lance-type, less formal jobs can make use
of the latest trend of matching suits with a comfortable pair of f lip-f lops
and sandals.
Summer Dress Code for the Office
1
Shorts are for weekends
No matter how much we would
like to dress light in the summer
heat, for most offices, shorts and even
more styled up shorter trouser versions with a shirt and f lip-f lops will
simply not do.
2
go to work.
Flip-f lops?
In general, even if your office
does not require a very strict
dress code, f lip-f lops tend to be a bad
idea. You simply cannot impress with
your skills and talents, if everyone is
able to see your toes.
4
Summer trousers
Summer cotton and linen trousers are a good choice for summer office dress. Depending on the
level of formality of the dress code,
you could match a pair of these with
either sports shoes and a sports shirt,
or a more stylish short-sleeved shirt.
Either way, do not skip the belt.
5
3
Wrinkled clothes are still a
no-no
Granted, 30+ degrees Celsius
make it a bit more difficult to preserve the crease of trousers but perfectly pressed clothes are still a must
for summer. To make your life easier,
you may want to opt for non-wrinkle
items, although natural fabrics, which
tend to keep you cooler, will normally
wrinkle easily. Or, you could go for
a slightly darker colour which would
immediately make wrinkles less vis-
Careful with finer fabric
A light linen pair of trousers
could be the best solution for
the summer heat. Still, besides keeping you cooler, finer fabric tends to
show more than one would like. Yes,
we are talking panty lines. And, to be
sure, this is not something you would
want showing in the office. Therefore, make sure you take a careful
look of yourself in the mirror before
slipping on light summer trousers to
JULY-AUGUST 2010
Shoes and socks
Although such f leeting trends
have been known to occur, you
would do better than to wear shoes
barefoot. Socks are an office must,
and you absolutely need to match
them to your shoes and trousers.
6
6
ible. All in all, make sure you don’t
pick a ‘natural’ wrinkle-look – it is so
not on for the office.
7
Jacket?
If your job means wearing a
jacket during summer, pick the
lightest you’ve got and hope that the
office AC does not break. Even if a
jacket is not required, you may wish
to keep some sort of formal top in
the office to use during early morning work meetings while you are still
sleepy and the AC airf low feels cold
rather than just cool.
Back-up option
Seeing as sweat, wrinkling and
various other stuff that happens to clothes are a constant threat
during (but not only) summer, it is a
good idea to always have a plan B. In
short, if possible, leave a nice, clean,
pressed summer shirt on a hanger
somewhere. Just so you have a backup route. Should it turn out that today is not your best looks day, yet you
need to meet this important business
partner, the back-up shirt will surely
help save the day.
8
3 golden rules
As long as you stick to these rules,
you will never have issues with office dress in the summer:
1. If you are not aware of the company dress code, do some research!
2. If you can’t decide between two
outfits, chose the more formal one.
Best ask yourself, ‘If I need to meet
an important client or my supervisor calls for me, could I show up
dressed like this?’ If yes, then you
are dressed to the occasion.
3. Always pick clothes that will not
wrinkle after sitting twice only.
Also, make sure you choose colours
and fabric that will not show possible sweat stains.

Let People Be Good
The MMA fighter Stanislav Nedkov, unbeaten so far, winner of the most
prestigious victory in Bulgaria’s history of this sport – over the veteran
in the most popular chains for mixed martial arts, EFC and PRIDE, Kevin
Randleman “The Monster” – speaks about himself, sports and life in a special
interview for Andrews Fashion
Ако някой не те познава, какво
би му казал за себе си? Who is
Stanislav Nedkov? Describe yourself
in brief...
It is difficult to portrait yourself for it
would always be a subjective picture,
but I am definitely a man who can’t
bear to lose and I am one for friendship
and morality, for family and true faith.
What does popularity give you?
I have never been in quest of popularity.
On the contrary, I do not like the
exaggerated interest and unhealthy
curiosity. I prefer the quiet life, because
JULY-AUGUST 2010
it helps me to concentrate on my work
and sports.
And what does it take from you?
Popularity deprives me of my personal
freedom and privacy, and it forces me
to reckon with lots of things.
How did you make up your mind to
go in for sports?
On my very first day at school I noticed
that I was as big as the teacher and I
decided to use my physical qualities
for sports. At that time there were no
computers, no games, so we could
engage only in sports.
Do you remember your first victory?
Of course I do. It was in the fourth
grade. I took part in a city competition
and I won it in up to 41 kg category.
The prize I received was a plant pot. I
was very happy.
Tell us some short and interesting
story from your rich experience as a
sportsman.
My friend of many years Kotooshu
was present at my first big win in
Japan, and he came down on the ring
to congratulate me. This threw the
organizers into confusion, because he
7
was highly respected there.
What do you think of today’s sport?
Isn’t it much more commercially
oriented compared to ten years ago,
for example?
If we want to have high quality
sportsmen and world achievements,
the sport needs both ambitious and
capable people, and lots of resources.
The good training is very costly and this
involves a more commercially-oriented
approach.
And how do you feel in Andrews
Fashion’s clothes?
Generally, I don’t like formal clothing,
but all too often I have to wear suits,
jackets. I have a preference for the
Andrews Fashion trademark, because
their clothes provide me with the
freedom I need. As a professional
sportsman, I can hardly find standard
clothes and I have realized that
Andrews Fashion garments are very
suitable for me. I like the fabrics and
the outline, and the trendy designs...
What a man cannot go without in his
wardrobe?
Jeans are very important to me – I
combine them with coats, jackets, Tshirts and so on.
Does fashion influence you?
Usually it’s Juliana who takes care of
my wardrobe. She was quick to figure
out what is the style that suits me and
sometimes she gives me advices. I don’t
forget to appraise the way she dresses
either.
Tell us about 3 or 4 favourite
accessories of yours?
Wristwatch, belt... I can’t stand jewelry.
Do you have spare time and if yes,
what do you fill it with?
I like to watch movies, and to read,
and to keep up with the MMA matches
online. I don’t like the noisy public
houses and night clubs. You can hardly
see me and my wife in a pub after
midnight. We prefer the company of
our closest friends. We like to invite
guests at home.
The last book you have read?
I read Orthodox related literature,
because this is the only way to preserve
our value system. I am interested in the
saints’ passionals and I often reread
various moments from the Old and the
New Testament.
The last film you’ve seen?
„The Prince of Persia“. Both Juliana and
I like historical films, even when they’re
on the verge of fairy-tales.
What do you laugh at?
Stupidity and naivety. There are always
comic situations in the daily routine;
it is important to keep your sense of
humour.
Do you cry? What for?
I don’t remember the last time I have
cried, but I become very sad every time
I see a sick child...
What did you tell Juliana when you
first met?
I just felt that she’s the woman I wanted
to share my life with.
Do you feel like a family man
already?
I feel like a happy man.
According to you, what is the most
important factor for a nice and long
family life?
Mutual trust. One can hardly reach a
long family life without it. And in the
first place – love.
What annoys you?
The ignorance and inferior behaviour.
What makes you pleased?
I am glad to see a church full of
believers.
Tell us something nice for the finale.
Let people obey the Divine laws and be
good.

The Museum of the Present
This is Berlin – this and much more. They say you are not au fait with what’s going on around the world today, if you
haven’t been there...
S
ome time ago a friend of mine told
me she was visiting Berlin and
asked me where to go. I said that
if she wanted to feel the city best,
when going out of the hotel, she
should simply turn left. If you want
to get acquainted with the obligatory part
of Berlin too, you already know everything
you need. And here are certain pieces of
information that your friends will probably
ask you about, when you come back home.
A good way to start the tour around a city is to
look at it from its highest spot. In Berlin this
would be the 368 meter high television tower
on Alexanderplatz. Although the observation
JULY-AUGUST 2010
deck is only at 204 meters, it is high enough
to see most of the town, as well as the big
sign PUTO on the roof of one of the nearby
buildings. It won’t take much time for you to
be convinced that from above Berlin is not as
impressive as Paris, viewed from the top of
the Eiffel Tower.
But in order to compensate this fact, right
under Alexanderplatz one of the biggest
metro stations is situated, that gives you
access to almost every site of the city with
barely more than one change. If you look
through the windows of the train, you will see
one of the biggest museums of the present day.
Your eyes run through the graffiti, appearing
on every transformer, the renovated facades of
centuries-old museums, the Berlin Cathedral
and jump over the buildings that, at least
in the central part of the city, are ardent
guardians and proud representatives of the
German capital’s appearance. Made of glass
or concrete, but at the preferred places mostly
brick-built, with only one look from the metro,
you can be there – in their comfortable offices,
private apartments or artists’ studios. Berlin is
a city, where you won’t feel like getting off the
metro, and when you nevertheless decide to
do it, you will be afraid not to miss something.
Getting off at Potsdamer Platz will carry you
from the centre of East Berlin to the place
8
where the Berlin Wall ran just twenty years
ago. Its exact path can be traced by the yellow
dots seen under your feet every now and then.
The Wall itself is scattered across the whole
city and on the stalls of enterprising streetvendors. Finding themselves on another spot
of the planet, the latter could as well sell their
debris as bits of meteorite. That’s why, if you
do insist on going back home with a piece of
the Wall, you’d better take it from the Wall
Museum located on the place where once the
notorious Checkpoint Charlie stood. Going
back to Potsdamer Platz again, you can get
on the glass tower of Sony Centre or walk
into Berlinale Palast – the place where the
WWW.ANDREWS _ FASHION.COM
competition programme films of the most
visited film festival in the world are shown.
Have in mind that the festival is carried
out only in February, and for the rest of the
time Berlinale Palast is just a concert hall
of a modest size. Setting off north, which
is to the left, if you are just going out of
Berlinale Palast, you will reach three of the
most famous sights in contemporary Berlin.
First, at your right, the Memorial of the
Murdered Jews of Europe shows up. Consisting
of 2711 stones, covered with paint, over which
graffiti spray cannot stick, it looks like a big,
silent graveyard. One of the interesting stories
around it is about a conversation between a
Berlin rabbi and the memorial’s architect.
Asked why the number of stones was exactly
this, the architect explained that this number
of stones filled the space perfectly. After a
brief silence, the rabbi told him that this
was the exact number of the chapters in the
Babylonian Talmud.
Right beside the Memorial is the Brandenburg
Gate - a symbol of Germany and Berlin. Other
than to your right, you would see it every time
you take a coin out of your pocket, because it
is engraved on the back of the German Euro
cents. Next comes the Reichstag, renovated
JULY-AUGUST 2010
in the 1950s, and in the 1990s Norman Foster
added a glass cupola to it, where you can
watch the German Parliament sessions from
and which offers a wonderful view at Berlin.
If you get hungry at some point of your
walk, you must definitely take something
very Berlinish, and there is nothing more
Berlinish than Currywurst which basically
is a cut sausage with ketchup, worcester and
curry sauce. The wurst was created by Hertha
Heuer in 1949. I don’t know who invented the
German beer, but whatever brand you might
choose to go along with your meal, you’ll
hardly make a mistake.
But if you want something different, like
watching animals in an almost natural
environment, get on the metro again and
reach Zoologischen Garten. Right above the
station one of the oldest zoos in the world is
situated, where over 1500 animal species live.
Just several hundred meters further down you
will find KaDeWe, the largest indoor shop
in Europe, or something that is generally
known as a mall. The road to it passes by the
demolished church of Kaiser Wilhelm that
was one of the few buildings not to be restored
after the war. If you decide that some cultural
diversity won’t hurt you, there are over 600
museums in Berlin. Whatever realm of life
you are interested in, don’t miss the GDR
Museum.
Yes... no matter where you end up in this city
you can always catch the metro to your hotel,
take a shower and go to the left. Perhaps you
will pass by an old factory, in front of which
there is a burning barrel and some roamers

of desolate hangars, you might discover the
biggest club in Europe. Berliners love their
city, because it never sleeps. Except for being
the Mecca of techno culture, Berlin offers a

true variety, satisfying even to the fussiest
taste for fun. Concerts, musicals, theatrical
performances, clubbing – all this can be found
in Berlin and in quite an abundance. If you
wonder where to go, don’t miss Berghain Club

Berlin, all right, but this does not mean you
have visited Germany.” Whatever that means.

Windsurfing to Death
Or the pleasure to dance on the edge of the waves
W
indsurfing is a popular summer sport and
each year lots of people get nuts on it. It is
an excellent reason to go into the water and
have fun. Instead of lying on the beach and melting
under the blistering sun you could get wild in the water and ride the edge of the waves even without investing in an expensive boat or yacht.
The beginning
History says that the early South American civilizations along the Amazon River used removable masts
on their rafts so many people consider the concept of
windsurfing to be really ancient.
The modern version of this sport emerged somewhere
around 1930s. The idea belongs to the surfer Tom
Blake. His hands were getting tired of pulling the
board towards the waves so it came to his mind that
he could use the wind for moving. He attached a mast
and a sail to his board and then added a wishbone
steering boom. He called his invention “a sail boat
surf” and through the years it grew more and more
popular and underwent a series of minor changes. In
1871 this sport was presented in Europe as well and
here it achieved big successes right away.
The ways of the surf
It’s true that windsurfing comes natural to some
people but even if you have a hard start don’t be dis-
JULY-AUGUST 2010
heartened. This sport is not that complex as it looks
and if you are patient enough to go through some
primary lessons you’ll get to this conclusion yourself.
The best way to begin is to find a teacher. You may try
it on your own of course but you should know that
windsurfing hides dozens of small clever tricks. And
you’ll get to know them much faster with the help of
a teacher rather than by yourself. To watch an experienced windsurfer riding with ease and knows all the
little secrets is beyond comparison. Besides, if there
is someone to tell you what exactly you are making
wrong, you’ll advance much faster and very soon the
water adventure will bring you more delight and less
painful efforts.
Another important rule is to hire the equipment you’ll
need. To have a friend windsurfer is even better – you
could borrow his equipment for the next weekend. But
under no circumstances get into thoughtless purchasing of sails and boards because – firstly, they might
turn out they are not suitable for you and what’s more
important, there is no point investing serious money
in equipment only to see that this is not your sport and
it doesn’t bring you the pleasure you’ve expected.
The windsurfing equipment is the primary and most
important thing you’ll come across before getting into
the water. The training board is probably the best
choice if you are a beginner because it’s bigger and
is designed to be more stable than the others. Once
you’ve mastered the first training board, you may
buy faster boards but they are harder to ride. This is
so because their purpose is to gather speed so to use
them you should be closely familiar with the basics of
windsurfing.
Of course, the board needs a sail if you want to do
some kind of job (unless you prefer Hawaiian surf but
we’ll talk about it some other time). There are dozens
of materials with different quality you can make sails
of. Monofilm is one of the best among them. It gives
excellent visibility and besides that keeps its shape
many times better than other, more common materials of which sails are made.
10
„ECLIPSE” - It all begins...... with a choice
If you are a beginner windsurfer you should know that
your sail must be softer because it would be much
easier for you to ride. The better you get in the sport
afterwards, the harder will be the sails you buy. As
an example, the windsurfing competitors ride only
with very hard sails that provide maximum speed and
control.
The most important rule concerning the sails is never
to buy a second hand sail. It may be stretched or damaged and may be worth for nothing. And despite this
you won’t notice this but when you enter the water.
And, honestly, no one would like to buy a second hand
sail only to get stuck in a disastrous situation in the sea
or ocean.
The places
The best places for windsurfing in the world are
Hawaii islands, Californian coastline and Tahiti. In
Bulgaria the situation is more or less unfavourable and
the main reason is the unsuitable weather conditions.
But if you are nuts enough, the Turkish Gokceada
Island is some 530 км away from Sofia and offers an
exciting symbiosis of water and wind. So, even if you
are living by the sea nothing obstructs you to pack,
load your luggage in the car and smoke the tyres. And
it’s high season.

Hard-boiled Wonderland
and the End of the World
Voyages that Changed
the World
The most translated and supposedly best contemporary
Japanese writer is again demonstrating his wild imagination, respectable intellectual
potential and stylistic skills in
the novel Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.
His character, a 35-year old
man, is a fan of old movies and
cooking. He has exceptional
computer skills and no feelings whatsoever. And he is
thus involved in a miraculous
project – The End of the World.
But when you are present in
two worlds, sooner or later they
begin to merge …
This book is a collection of
tales, lavishly illustrated with
maps, portraits and graphics,
for those trips which can really
change the world. Their characters are Vasco da Gama, Francis
Drake, Amundsen and Darwin,
Captain Cook and Shackleton. This is a book of fiction
as much as a good reference
manual and certainly worth
having at home.

Paquito D’Rivera Quintet,
JaZZ-claZZ
Saxophone and clarinet player
Paquito D’Rivera has lived in New
York since 1981. Born and raised
in Cuba, he became a professional
musician at an early age; at seven
he started playing to money. His
father, Tito, was his teacher. Later
on Paquito received a classical
music education and played at the
National Symphonic Orchestra of
Cuba. Soon after he fled to the US,
he immediately started playing
with Dizzy Gillespie, David Amram
and Mario Bauza. His virtuous
performances are matched with
elegance, romance and passion.
Jazz-claZZ is a wonderful jazz
album on which Paquito D’Rivera
quite successfully combines the
Latin music of Cuba with slightly
implicit elements from Astor
Piazzolla’s tango, from Brazil, and
even Balkan music. Jazz-claZZ
has received two GRAMMY Award
nominations for Best Instrumental
Composition and Best Classical
Crossover Album.

This is the thinnest watch in the world
Piaget Altiplano
14600 Euro
This is the thinnest watch in the world. Its casing is only 2.3 mm thick and this has earned
it a place in the Guinness Book of Records from 1960 till now. The complex and precise
mechanism is so fragile that the original model stops working even if a slightest pressure
is applied on the watch itself. Besides that it is not waterproof. Piaget have prepared a
special new version of their watch that can stand the stresses of our everyday life. It has
enforced casing and is hermetically water insulated.
Archos 5 Internet Tablet

The players of the French company Archos secure problem-free playing of the different
popular formats but some of the devices offer more than that. Such an example is the Archos
5 Internet Tablet which has much in common with the smartphones – it uses the Android
1.6 platform and relies on ARM Cortex-A8 800MHz processor. It will win your approval as
well with its 4.8” display (800x400 pixels), a GPS receiver, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n networks
support, Bluetooth, FM radio and even a FM transmitter. Also, you are offered a browser and
a mail client. The powerful hardware in combination with the codecs added by Archos, make
possible the playing of a non-converted video (with subtitles) with resolution up to 720 dpi
and different audio formats including FLAC. An additional accessory allows connection to TV
set and even recording of TV programmes. The mobile applications of Google are missing and
Android Market is replaced by an own shop but everything else is in favour of the tablet. You
better look for the model with flash memory.

The third Porsche Design fall-winter fashion and

again – a classic and eternal line, shining with
functionality. Having in mind Porsche’s history and
aptitude for top speed, the accent once again is set on
the various types of leather jackets. The most powerful
moment in the latest collection is the nappa lambskin

Claudia and Karl for the
German publishing house teNeues. The
designer of Chanel fashion house, who is
also making his mark as a photographer for
years, has admitted more than once that
Claudia Schiffer is his favourite top model. In
June Lagerfeld shot the German issue cover
of Vogue, where the beauty poses nude, like

giving birth to her third child.

models will win the battle in
kids’ hearts in order to find
a place on the wall in their
room – this is a question of a
greater importance even compared to
the payment of dividends to the share
holders. Magic, history, and mystery
behind the mere tins – these are the
cars in their purest and most sincere
appearance. Jaguar captures the hearts
form decades although during the
latest few decades the engineering
achievements of the brand were not
at their best level compared to the
merciless German competition. Actually,
Jaguar hasn’t had a really serious
advantage over Germany since 1960s
when England won the FIFA World
Cup. Until today. For the new Jaguar is
affirmative in its ambitions to become a
leader in its segment. Lots of automotive
specialists predict that it will turn into
the new hit. It is distinguished for its
dynamic and elegant looks. Each detail
sensually underlines grace, passion,
confidence and strength. A car created
with emotion that is transferred on the
road too.
The traditionalists are genuinely
terrified by its shape, and they protest
against the torn connection with the
past and insist that this is not a real Jag.
But these reactions are expected and
anticipated by the chief designer Ian
Callum. The brand must wake up from
the lethargy of nostalgia and become
more aggressive. So the reaction of the
passers-by is not surprising – they turn
their heads with sheer admiration after
the silhouette of this luxury class limo.
And you are behind the wheel, proudly
making a collection of looks and sighs.
Cool.
The proportions of this limo demonstrate
its function clearly – the owner sits in
the back. If you compare the comfort
of sitting at the front and in the back
seats you’ll see that in the back things
are entirely different. Coziness, warmth,
heart-warming silence (thank you,
Jaguar, for the double-glassed windows) –
travelling in this limo is a stolen beauty.
The road is somewhere out there but it’s
not important. The important thing is
the tranquility, the calmness and these
special moments that are saved for you
and no one but you – the proud owner of
this pedigree English cat.
At the front is the seat of the driver.
The driver may be you, probably on a
Sunday to take advantage of the dynamic
qualities of this Jag. The interior is
marvelously built and on the upper edge
of the dash you’ll see a piping with a
shape reminding of a yacht deck. The
rotating switch on the center console is
in fact the selector of the automatic gear
and this tease with ergonomics is known
from the smaller XF – and then we liked
it no less. The air condition, radio and
angel’s beauty, that provokes me to multiply
television are controlled by a touch
sensitive display.
Under the bonnet you’ll find a choice of
diesel 6-cylinder engine producing 275
hp and enormous 600 Nm of torque. The
twin turbo motor will probably be the
most common choice of everyone who
intends to ride the big cat as a business
car. For the real connoisseurs the petrol
engines with their 8 cylinders and 5-litre
capacity and output of 385 to 510 h.p.
(supercharged) will be more appealing.
Handling the XJ on the road is very
stable and secure. The lack of all wheel
drive is not something you’ll ever miss
unless, of course, you live all year long
in mountainous regions and have a
house in the foothills of Pamporovo. The
suspension is balanced and takes the
road surface well but despite everything
it lacks precision on small bumps. The
accent in handling this car is on the
extreme easiness it leaves the miles
behind and the systems in the saloon are
worthy of their name – they entertain.
Jaguar XJ is a true contender. Unlike the
English national football team, it can
beat the Germans for sure.

In his latest media project, the British
photographer Rankin – among the founders
of the cult Face magazine, no longer existing

his favourites. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is
the star of the British fashion line Thomas
Wylde campaign, shot by Rankin, and issued
