Our Football Coaching Staff
John Mattes
Head Football Coach
Coach Mattes is in his 10th year coaching football here at
North, and his 6th year as head coach for our Lions. With
the largest senior class in a decade, he’s got a great group
of kids to lead to a terrific season this fall. Coach Mattes
was a 4 year letter winner in football and baseball at
Moravian College, and was selected as Moravian College’s
Scholar-Athlete of the year in his final year. He teaches
American History here at North. He lives in Palmer, PA
with his wife, Carmella and their son Jake. Come cheer on
the Lions in 2013!

Coach Flynn is in his 15th season
as a teacher and coach at North
Hunterdon. He leads the Defense
and assists with the wide
receivers and defensive backs.
Coach Flynn is also the head
wrestling coach and assistant
golf coach in the spring. A
graduate of James Madison
University, he was a 4 year letter
winner in wrestling while in
college. Coach Flynn is a social
studies and special education
teacher at North. He lives in
Phillipsburg with his wife Brooke
and children Jack and Lindsey.
Coach Mazzetta is a veteran
coach here at North. This
season Coach Mazzetta will be
calling North’s offensive plays.
In addition, he works with our
players in the weight room all
year, and helps instill discipline
and focus. A graduate of Virginia
Tech, he was a 4 year football
letter winner during his time in
Blacksburg. He teaches Health
and Phys Ed to our students.
Coach Donnelly has coached
every level within the football
program here at North since his
coaching days began in 1993.
A 1987 graduate of NHHS, he
earned his college degree from
West Chester University and
played lacrosse for 4 years while
there. Coach Donnelly teaches
Health & Phys Ed at North.
Coach Donnelly resides
in Stewartsville with his
wife and 3 children.
Coach Petraglia is in his fifth year
coaching the Lions. He earned
his college degree from Widener
University, where he excelled on
the gridiron all 4 years. He has
also earned a graduate degree,
a Masters in Special Education
at New Jersey City University.
In addition to coaching football,
he also coaches lacrosse and
assists Coach Mazzetta in
the weight room during the
winter. He teaches Special
Education here at North.
Andrew Conforti is in his
third year coaching here
at North Hunterdon.
He earned a BA in History at
Rutgers University, where he
also earned 4 varsity letters
playing lacrosse. Coach Conforti
is also our Boys Lacrosse coach.
He is continuing his education
at New Jersey City University,
earning his M.A. in Special
Education. He and his wife
are proud parents of their son
Grayden and daughter Navey.
Coach Heidecker is our most
experienced coach, with 38
years under his belt in both
teaching and coaching here at
North Hunterdon. He is also the
Head Boys Winter and Spring
Track Coach, and has earned
many accolades for his work
with our student-athletes. Coach
Heidecker teaches English at
North. He provides invaluable
experience and wisdom both
in the classroom and on our
athletic fields at North!

coach. In addition to being the
offensive coordinator, he will
help coach the quarterbacks,
running backs, and defensive
backs. He is a 2000 graduate
of Stockton College.

Coach Lachner is in his fourth
year as an assistant football
coach for North Hunterdon. He
coaches WR/DB at the Varsity
level, as well as, defensive
coordinator for the JV. Coach
Lachner earned is college degree
from Kings College where he
also played football and lacrosse.
Along with coaching football
he will be in his fourth year as
an assistant lacrosse coach.
Coach Krebs is in his 2nd year
coaching football and baseball
at North Hunterdon High School.
After spending last season
as the defensive coordinator
on the freshmen team, Coach
Krebs is now joining the JV/
Varsity staff. He attended East
Stroudsburg University receiving
his B.S. in Physical Education
and Health where he earned two
varsity letters on the football
team as a wide receiver. Coach
Krebs also served in the United
States Navy from 2002-2007.
This is Mike’s second year at
North. As a Hunterdon county
native, he earned his BA in
Biological Sciences from
Rutgers University and his
Ed. M from Rutgers. Mike is
a Biology teacher at North.
He is excited to also be
helping to coach girls track.
John McSweeney is in his second
year here at North Hunterdon
High School. He earned a
Political Science degree at Kings
College, and he is continuing
his education at New Jersey
City University where he is
pursuing an M.A. in Educational
Leadership. Coach McSweeney
is very excited to be a part of the
North Hunterdon community!
