Fix the refrigerator
● The floor should be sturdy and flat.
Lay a board with 1cm thickness on the floor if the refrigerator is installed on the carpet, tatami mat, flooring
or PVC sheet flooring which may be hollow or discolor.
● Place the refrigerator away from direct sunlight and heat.
● Do not place it in damp areas, and ensure good air ventilation.
This will reduce adverse effects to refrigerating power and keep electricity cost
down. This will also prevent the refrigerator from discoloring and rusting.

● To cool efficiently, allow enough space around the refrigerator for

Cooling down the inside of the refrigerator
● It may take more than 4 hours to cool well the inside of the refrigerator, depending on conditions such as
the ambient temperature or the storage state of foods.

● A series of ice making operation will start automatically after the inside of the refrigerator is cooled well.

Transporting your refrigerator (transport for moving)
● Make sure to empty food and ice from the refrigerator. Always drain
water from the water supply container and ice tray.
● Secure the door with tape.
● Unplug the power plug and remove the ground lead, if it is connected.
● Use a tape to fix the power plug / cord so that they may not hang
down.
● In preparation for transportation or at the destination, lay a protective
sheet or cloth to protect the floor from damage and catch remaining
water spilled from the refrigerator.
● With a large piece of old cloth underneath, tilt the refrigerator
backward to drain water.
● Make sure to hold the handles when carrying it.

Caution
● Automatic temperature control lowers cooling loads, which may cause ice cream to get soft and frost to form

● Open/close the Vegetable Compartment Door slowly. Opening/closing the door mightily, the food
stored in the tall storage compartment (PET bottle etc.) may overturn.

HOW TO MAINTAIN THE AUTOMATIC ICE MAKER

Washing the supply channel (Ice Maker Cleaning)
Ice tray and water supply line can be washed.
Be sure to check the followings before starting the operation.
● Water supply container
・Water is filled in it.
・The container is set properly
as specified.
● Ice case
・If there remains ice,
remove it.
Go to the next step after checking them.

Lay a soft clean towel on the bottom of the ice case.

Push the ņICE MAKERŇ button and hold it for more
than 5 seconds after closing all the doors and turning
on the display.
To prevent malfunction, lay the
towel so that its thickness does
not reach this line.
This is to suck water drained from Ice Maker Cleaning,
preventing it from spilling out of a cutout located behind in
the Ice Maker case.
Press this button for
more than 5 seconds
When the three indicator lamps“QUICK”/“NORMAL”and“OFF”
start to blink and alarm starts to sound, stop holding the button.
“CLEANING”starts.
・The indicator lamp will flash and the buzzer will sound for about 3
minutes.
・“CLEANING”can’t be interrupted.
・If you open any of the refrigerator doors during Ice Maker
Cleaning, the cleaning may not work properly. Do not open or
close the door until cleaning is completed.

How to Maintain the Automatic Ice Maker

● When the frame for the ice tray cannot be pushed into the back, the motor that drives the ice-tray may have operated. Remove the ice tray and then push the frame alone into the
back, and then push the“NORMAL”with all the doors opened to turn on“OFF”. After a while, the ice-tray driving motor gets ready, allowing you to mount the ice-tray.
If it is not used for a long time
● If you set ice making to“Stop”and do not intend to use the auto ice maker for some time, wash and dry the water
supply container and then mount it in place.
● In particular, dry the water filter thoroughly.

● Is food squeezed in? or Is a large amount of food put in at a time?

each compartment, and do not store the amount of food that may prevent the
door from opening and closing.
→ Allow clearance between each food in each compartment.
● Are Upper Freezer case and Slimline slide case installed correctly?

but there is no problem with the performance.

● A lower setting of the condensation prevention heater will reduce power consumption.
The setting of a heater for dew condensation prevention has four levels. The level 4 achieves the highest reduction in power consumption.
A lower setting of the condensation prevention heater may cause dew condensation in the partitioning iron
plates when humidity is high. When dew is formed, cancel the setting.
● The setting will be cancelled when the power plug is connected and disconnected or power failure recovery takes place.

2. With the door of the Refrigerator Compartment closed, push and hold the

2. Push and hold the“REFRIGERATOR”button on the Control Panel for five
seconds or more until one beep sounds (This allows finer adjustment.)
3. Close the door of the Lower Freezer Compartment.
4. Push the“REFRIGERATOR”or“FREEZER”button to make an
adjustment. The temperature becomes higher by one level every time
you push the button. (Pushing“MAX.”returns to“MIN.”
.)
5. If you want to stop the fine adjustment, perform the operation of 1 and 2.

When the refrigerator is operated in a manner to reduce power consumption, such as Frost Recycle Cooling,
the indicator lamp is automatically lit to indicate that the refrigerator is operating in the energy saving mode.

About non-CFC refrigerators
● Instead of CFCs, hydrocarbons are used in the coolants and insulation materials used in this refrigerator.
Hydrocarbons donot damage the ozone layer, and they are environmental-friendly materials, having an
exceptionally small affect on global warming.
● Hydrocarbons are flammable. The coolants are sealed in the coolant circuitry, and with normal operation
they will not leak, but should the circuitry be damaged, refrain from using ames or other electrical products,
and open windows for ventilation. After that, please contact the dealer or Hitachi customer service centre.
