ROOTec utilizes plant root cultures – the so-called Hairy
Root Cultures (HRC) – as natural factories for bioactive
compounds. Our patented bioreactor technology provides
the optimal manufacturing process for constant quality
and flexible scalability.

Unique Advantages
HRCs can be created from an almost limitless number of
plant species. Hairy roots are generated by the natural soil
bacterium Agrobacterium rhizogenes. They grow faster and
branch more often than conventional roots and contain
high concentrations of bioactive substances.
Utilizing the vast reserve of the plant kingdom, ROOTec
produces biomass and high value plant derived extracts and
compounds with an efficient process, enabling its customers to generate high-quality products.

ROOTec has developed an innovative bioreactor system,
the ROOTec Mist Bioreactor (RMB). The RMB technology
optimizes the growth of HRCs and the production of bioactive substances under sterile conditions. Its modular construction renders the RMB system very flexible. The
production volume can be expanded efficiently from experimental dimensions to large-scale production.
