Searching for Eldorado, the minhoto Amadeu
Abilio Lopes set his course to Brazil, in the mid-twentieth
century.
As a strong character and entrepreneurial man, he
grew up as an entrepreneur and has become an
industrial reference, but he never forgot Melgaço.
Wealthy but always keeping in mind the ground
where he was born, few years later he returned to his
homeland to continue his activity. However, in this new
phase, his aim was also to contribute to the improvement
of his own people. Then, he launched the roots of an idea
and through his determination, an initiative eventually
took shape in Quintas de Melgaço.
Nowadays, his dream brings together the entire
region interests, personified in its producers – native
people, involved people, with roots. A motor development
in the corner of Minho that almost everyone already
knows.
Fruit of its efforts, Amadeu Abilio Lopes simply
helped decisively to reveal a closely guarded secret,
disclosed by its action, providing to this land the
inscription on the map of the most renowned producers of
Alvarinho wine.
In the basin of Minho River, the most northern
region of the country, was born one of the most special
nectars. The Alvarinho is a sui generis wine - it is
dictated by the climate and soil. Spout from a white vine
variety, small bunches and tiny grapes, it evolved and
took over as difference also due to the stories that
involves it.
Precious and preciously caring by more than five
hundred small producers from Melgaço, shareholders of
Quintas de Melgaço, promoters of the region and its
growth, the Alvarinho from Melgaço is the testimony of a
historical knowledge that passes from hand to hand,
grape variety on grape variety, generation to generation.

ISO 22000:2005 (Food Safety Management).

ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management).
Certifications obtained in June 28th, 2007.
The Wine: Vinhas Velhas stands for Old Vines.
QM Vinhas Velhas is a white wine exclusively
made with Alvarinho grapes.
The grapes are hand harvested from a single
parcel of old vines, with more than 20 years.

The Alvarinho QM won a Silver Medal for its
labeling and packaging, in the "Communication
Design" category at the 8th edition of the International
Contest SINOS 2007, which took place between October
24th and 26th 2007, at ISCTE in Lisbon.
Result of the most renowned producer’s dedication
from Melgaço, Torre de Menagem should be tasted with
pleasure and good mood.
Created to bring out its entire flavor when drunk
at a refreshing temperature, its texture, soft in the
mouth, and perfect dose of acidity, its mild like a summer
breeze.
Terra Antiga is a soft, light and refreshing young
wine.
An uncompromising Vinho Verde, ideal for every
day drinking.
This wine has a bright colour with pineapple
aromas followed by citrus notes. Clean and crispy with
great acidity – fruits balance and a fabulous finish.
