2015: THE YEAR FOR POSITIVITY
As we barrel through the first month of 2015, resolutions are a distant memory and we are slipping
back into old patterns, employing previously utilised coping mechanisms just to “get through it”. Let’s
sit back, take a breath and refocus on making 2015 the year for positivity. Positivity breeds energy,
proactivity and success, enabling us to achieve our goals.
Whether your goals are personal, professional or environmental, the right attitude will go a long way in putting you
on an upward trajectory for 2015.
Good luck, stay green, enjoy the journey and take some time to smell the roses.
Yours in sustainable cleaning

VOCs – HOW DANGEROUS
ARE THEY & WHAT IS THE
ALTERNATIVE?
Synthetic, non-eco-friendly cleaning products
contain chemicals that are not only dangerous to
the environment, but also to your health and to
the health of those around you. Synthetic agents
contain volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) that
can be inhaled as they are used, while other
ingredients are absorbed by the skin causing
serious side effects. VOCs have been known to
cause allergic reactions and worsen asthma when
inhaled, cause brain damage, skin, nose throat and
sinus irritations as well as being linked to infertility
and miscarriages.
VOCs are also heavily polluting in their
production, contributing to air pollution while
biodegrading slowly and incompletely. Some
products list formaldehyde as an ingredient, even
though it has been banned globally in developed
countries. Yet despite the severe environmental
and physical consequences of utilising these
products, they remain in use.
Considering the risks of these products, joining
the ‘green side’ should be an obvious choice.
‘How?’ you may ask; by switching from synthetic
products to green cleaning products that are not
harmful to your health and are just as effective
when it comes to cleaning.
Green products are based on enzymes and
friendly bacteria found in every living organism.
Enzymes and bacteria are nature’s tools; they
are biodegradable proteins that speed up vital
biological processes. Enzyme-based cleaners
are therefore increasingly being used instead
of synthetic chemicals throughout the cleaning
industry. The benefits of using bio-enzymes
include; safety, cost-effectiveness and longlasting cleaning ability - the microbes continue
to eliminate residual organics after the cleaner
has left.
