Senior Jonah Harris, sophomores Chase Howard, Jackson Miller, and Ben Turker,
and freshmen Sean Bowden and Cade Conklin earned a perfect 4.0 GPA to lead the
baseball program in second quarter grades.Sixty-one percent of the baseball players
earned a 3.0 GPA or better, down 4 % from last year.

DISTRICT GRADE POLICY
The District grade policy for athletic participation requires
the athlete to maintain a 2.0 GPA with no F’s or a 2.5 GPA
and F’s to be eligible. Students can be on probation for
one grading period.
The overall program GPA was 3.23. Grades by class were Seniors, 3.33; Juniors,
2.89; Sophomores, 3.37; and Freshmen, 3.32.

PRE-SEASON CONDITIONING RESULTS
Sophomore Chase Howard and senior Jonah Harris were the top performers in the pre-season conditioning mile
run and jump rope test this year. Howard recorded the 3rd all-time best with a 5:22 mile run, and Harris had zero
misses in the jump rope. John Venables showed the biggest individual improvement in the mile at 7:17, from 9:06
last year. Nick Slenning was 2nd in each test with two misses on the jump rope test and a mile of 5:46. Twenty-nine
players participated in the seven-week off-season conditioning program, with most of it taking place at the
Wilson Baseball exclusive performance training center, Twist Sport Conditioning.

MEDIA GUIDE
A Baseball media guide was published again this year by Gameday Media. There is a story on the 1962 team and info
on alumni playing college baseball. They are available at all home games and on the web site.
ALUMNI GAME
Saturday, July 12 will be the date for the annual alumni games held at Wilson. A no-host bar social will be held after
the games at Toby Harris’ (89) Cider Mill/Fryer Tuck for alumni, family, and friends.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
Sunday, July 13 at 1PM, is the date for the annual
shotgun golf scramble fundraiser at Meriwether
National Golf Club in Hillsboro. A registration form
is included.
CHASE HOWARD—MAC WINNER
Sophomore Chase Howard was selected earlier this
month as the Wilson Athletic Department Multnomah
Athletic Club Scholar-Athlete. Each year, a sophomore
is selected from each school, who is given a student
membership that can later be transferred to a full
membership. Chase is a three-sport athlete competing
in Cross Country, Wrestling, and Baseball.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The Annual Pancake Breakfast is scheduled on Sunday, May 4 at Round Table Pizza on Barbur Blvd, 7:30-10:30 AM.
It is the same menu—all you can eat pancakes, sausage, and beverage. McDonald’s on Barbur and Alpenrose Dairy
will donate products for the event.
TROJAN REPORT
Varsity…Record 1-11, League 1-3 —Wilson opened up League
play losing the first series to Benson, two games to one...
Brendan Freeman and Zach Wogan each had two hits in the
Game 1 win over Benson, 6-1. Matt Harvison pitched the win
and Jay Howell earned the save, coming in the 6th inning with
two runners on, and getting two outs…John Venables pitched
five solid innings in Game 2 and left with a lead that the
bullpen could not keep, and lost 6-5. Orlando Lorang had four
hits and Cole Conklin three hits to lead the offense. Wilson had
the bases loaded in the 7th, but could not tie the game…
Benson scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th to win Game
3, 7-6, after Wilson had taken the lead in the top of the 7th on a
Harvison two-run single…Evan Shreeve lost his first Varsity
start vs. Dallas, 5-3. Perry Taylor and Lorang each had one RBI
…Oregon City won 12-1 in the home opener…Lee had two of
the three Trojan hits in 12-2 loss at defending 5A State
Champion Sherwood…Conklin and Lorang each had three hits
in 10-6 loss vs Lincoln at Gabriel Park…Jonah Harris had two
hits, and Liam Wogan and Conklin one each in 17-2 loss at
Serra (CA)…Only three hits in Archbishop Mitty (CA) loss, 8-2…
Again, only three hits in 19-0 loss vs. Pleasant Grove (CA)…
Baseball Alum, Dr. Mark (Abe) Marshall, treated the team to
dinner in Old Sacramento…North Medford shutout Wilson in
season opener.
JV…Record…8-6…—Tommy Harvison pitched a complete game
win over Dallas, 14-5…Lukas Glass had three hits and three RBI’s
…Evan Charlone earned the 3-2 win over Grant. Perry Taylor
earned the save. Sean Haxby and Riley Tindell each had two hits.
Tindell had three hits and Jackson Miller two hits in 5-1 loss at
Oregon City…Nick Slenning had two hits in rain-shortened 5-3
win over Franklin. Haxby got the win and Charlone the save…
Slenning got the win, striking out four of six Jefferson outs. Ben
Turker had three hits…Slenning had the only two hits in 4-2 loss
to Sherwood…Steffen Jacobsen and Miller each had two hits in
14-4 loss at Mitty. Chase Howard had the first TEAM two-out RBI
hit of the season…Evan Shreeve got the win in the 8-1 victory over
Lynbrook (CA). Turker had three hits and two RBI’s. Tindell’s diving
catch in right field has been the defensive play of the year…Team
had only four hits each in 9-2 loss at North Medford and Pleasant
Grove…Zach Madsen pitched six innings and Slenning one
inning for a no-hitter vs. Roosevelt, 8-1. Harvison had two hits and
two RBI’s…Howard had nine K’s in six innings to earn the win over
Jefferson, 17-3. Jacobsen and Miller had three hits each…
Clackamas had 11 hits in five innings to win, 13-2.

JV-2…Record 8-4—Cade Conklin pitched a complete game win over Madison, 3-2, in a 1 hour 22 minute game.
Garrett Leeper had two hits and two RBI’s…Noah Keough had three hits and three RBI’s to lead the offense in 8-7 win
over Benson, and earned the save with 1+ innings of relief pitching. Corey Bissonette and Alex Sabo each had two
hits…Conklin had four hits, Sam Johnson, Leeper, Sabo, Bissonette, and Nat Gurnee each had two hits to defeat
Benson at Sckavone. Chris Butcher pitched five innings for the win with nine K’s…Gurnee had three hits and three
RBI’s n 6-3 loss at Cleveland…Keough had a 13 pitch at bat single in the bottom of the 7th to beat Lincoln 5-4.
Butcher picked up his second win, and Conklin and Leeper each had two hits…Conklin earned the pitching victory in
relief in the come-from-behind win at Oregon City. Butcher and Sabo each had two hits…Butcher and Sabo had the
only hits in 3-0 loss to Grant JV…Butcher’s three RBI’s and Conklin’s two RBI’s led the 5-2 win over Sherwood. Keough
got the win and Sabo the save…not much offense in opening day loss to Tigard. Keough had three hits and three
RBI’s to lead the win over Dallas Frosh, 8-7, and pitched the last 1 1/3 innings to earn the save. Bissonette and Sabo
each added two hits each. Gurnee had three RBI’s…Sabo and Butcher each had two hits in 7-3 loss at Clackamas Frosh.
