WSL marketing is in full swing promoting the Neiman Marcus
Fashion Show and all of the Jewel Ball events.
The Jewel Tea was featured in June in the West Austin News and plans
are well underway to promote Soiree and Jewel Ball. We are active on
Facebook and Twitter with our new member Ray Michel managing
these responsibilities for Jewel Ball.
Mission
The mission of the Women’s Symphony
League of Austin is to provide service
and financial support for the Austin
Symphony Orchestra and its programs
and offer educational opportunities for
the children and the community to
further develop appreciation of music.
If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to “Like” the Women’s
Symphony League on Facebook and help promote the Soiree event.

We plan to have the press attend
the Neiman’s show as well as all
Jewel Ball events. The final piece
will come out after the Jewel Ball
as the RiverCITY special insert
covering all of the events.
Celebrate the music in ourselves!
From Tobie Funte Flannery, President
Welcome to members old and new, and to a
wonderful and fun-filled new season! Coming right up, we
have the Soirée Dansante and Jewel Ball to start our year
off with music and pageantry.
In between those events, past president Carrie Brown
has secured Neiman Marcus as a sponsor for an
exclusive runway fashion show, which promises to be a
treat for the first 100 lucky ladies to purchase tickets.
And speaking of tickets, everything can be purchased online now, thanks to dynamic duo Beth Grimm and
Barbara Crockett, who have created a very non-intimidating and aesthetically pleasing website. There’s a story
in the pages following to show you just how to use it,
with links to everything from volunteering to photos to
calendars. It’s really a handy dandy way to keep track of
everything with just a few clicks. (And there’s always a
cheat sheet if you forget your password or even your own name!)
Mostly, I want this to be a Year of Fun. Take a look at some of our amazing and accomplished new
members on the following pages, and make a point at the next meeting to say hello, strike up a conversation, or maybe even make a lunch or coffee date. WSL is a lot more than music and debutantes and
fundraising. It’s also a group of very interesting women, some of whom just might become your best
friends. We all love our families and community, and we all are busy. But if we take just a little time to
meet someone new, we enrich ourselves and our organization by association. We’re Austin women, and
we make good and loyal friends!
I’m looking forward to expanding my personal horizons along with each of you!

Our New Database – 101
By now, every member of the WSL has received an invitation to create a login name and password in order to access

for, forgot my glasses were on my head . . .
The bottom half of the page contains a welcome message from Barbara and me. The message will change periodically
so keep coming back to view current information!
Links Available to Members Only
The listings on the left of the welcome message are links to the Member’s Calendar, current Newsletter, WSL documents
