Driver Education
SAFEWAY DRIVING SCHOOL
The Driver’s Education Program is divided into two phases:
»» CLASSROOM PHASE
This phase includes the required 30 hours of classroom instruction
that prepares students to take the Minnesota permit test and to take
on the responsibility of driving. Make-up lessons can be arranged
with the instructor at either the next class or at another of Safeway’s
classroom locations.
»» BEHIND-THE-WHEEL PHASE
After passing the permit test, there are six hours of required driving
lessons. The lessons are provided in three, two-hour lessons. Students
are one-on-one with instructors licensed through the MN Dept. of
Public Safety. Students can be picked up from and dropped off at
home, school or work. Detailed information about scheduling the
behind-the-wheel lessons will be provided.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Safeway offers detailed information on its web site to assist parents
with understanding MN laws and requirements for student drivers. It is
critical that parents plan to practice regularly with their newly permitted
drivers. New state law requires minimum of 50 hours of practice and
a mandatory driving log. Safeway offers monthly parent classes which
reduce student practice time requirement.
Safeway strongly encourages all parents to review its Parent Information
section at www.safewaydrivingschool.com.
FEES
$375 per student includes classroom instruction, materials and behindthe-wheel training. Permit and road exam fees are not included.

Young Rembrandts Amazing Drawings
Does your child love art? Painting, drawing, clayit’s all awesome! We will experiment with many
techniques, materials and styles as we make snow
globes, paint on canvas, create clay characters and
more. Come ready to have an artsy good time in this
highly anticipated class!
Experience the colorful magic of fall. Kick off the fall season with a
colorful graphic and get excited for a season of apple picking as we
draw an apple basket (the basket texture is challenging – but we
know you can draw it!). Next, we dive into the geometrical world of
architecture as we draw the Notre Dame Cathedral. Later, students
will feel like they’re running through the corn fields as they draw
a detailed scare crow and we’ll celebrate a bountiful harvest as our
cornucopia overflows with creativity. We’ll draw these and many
more exciting lessons while we enhance the creative and critical
thinking skills today’s students need – both, in the classroom and
in the life-long learning process.
