they also have an extremely reliable IR sensor. "They performed exceptionally over the first shutdown period without a single detector exhibiting a fault or failure." The Triple Plus+ IR version differs from traditional detectors because it does not require the presence of oxygen, making it ideal for use in silicone manufacturing processes or in purge monitoring of hydrocarbon storage tanks such as in petroleum processing fadlities or oil and gas carriers. Favoured by the chemical and oil and gas industries because of its toughness, and with around 100,000 units in use worldwide, the Triple Plus+ is arguably the world's most popular full function mUlti-gas gas detector. r

ing safety in confined spaces. It is robust,
claims manufacturer Crowcon. Reliable and simple to use with a

special features specific to confi ned space
work, an increasing industry concern.
One of the main benefits is its com
pactness; it won't get in the way of other
personal protection equipment or interfere
with the work being carried out by ship or
shipyard staff. Its relatively small size is
due to an internal pump allowing pre-entry
testing to be done quickly and easily. Not
only does this keeps the size of the detec
tor small but it also removes the problems
of poor sealing or the need for extra equip
ment and chargers, claims Crowcon.
With a bright, clear top-mount display
that can be read at a glance without having

The Gas-Pro has a number of special features
specific to confined space entry (CSE) work:
• Compact and comparable in size to leading front-mount diffusion detectors
• Bright, clear top-mount display that can be read at a glance without having to
even touch the detector.
• Automated pre-entry check function. This is recorded in the event log making it
traceable and proving the check was carried out.
• An internal pump allowing pre-entry testing to be done quickly and easily.
• +ve Safety'" (positive safety). Tri-colour status indication giving quick and effective
monitoring of gas test (bump), calibration, over range and recent alarm notification.
• Multiple gas sensors for up to five potentially hazardous gases including:
hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen and flammable
gases, as well as industry-specific gases.
• Extremely rugged with IP65 and 1P67 ingress protection with an extremely loud
>95 dB alarm as well as a vibrating and dual colour visual warnings as standard.

velligheid in besloten ruimtes.
bezighoudl
Officiele defini~es van beperkte ruimtes varieren, maar omvatten meestal alle pleatsen, indusief alle kamers,
tanks, vaten, silo's, mijnen, geulen, leldingen, riolen, rookkanalen , putten of andere vergeJijkbare ruimte,

Gas detector for confined spaces
28 June, 2011
SpecifICally designed for CSE work, gas detection specialist Crowcon's new portable Gas-Pro confined space
entry (CSE) gas detector has application-driven features including a top-mount display, internal pump, detection
of up to five gases simultaneously, and +ve Safety - a, tri-colour status indicator which can fit differing
regulations.
Crowcon also has a number of other new gas detection products, including the IRmax infrared (IR) hydrocarbon
fIXed gas detector and the LaserMethane mini Gen2 (LMm) portable methane detector.
The IRmax is an ultra-compact IR gas detector said to deliver rapid, fail-safe detection of hydrocarbon gases
with very low power consumption. Said to be smaller and lighter than comparable detectors, the IRrnax is easy
to install in the most inaccessible locations.
The ATEX approved, second generation LMm is designed to detect methane at up to 100m in seconds turning
what used to be a time consuming and potentially hazardous procedure into a quick and easy one.

Crowcon releases IR gas sensor designed to detect potentially explosive hydrocarbons
Crowcon Detection Instruments IRmax gas detector Crowcon Detection Instruments has launched a compact infrared (IR) flammable gas detector that is designed to ensure the rapid, failsafe detection of hydrocarbon gases and vapours. 4 November 2011 The IRmax Is designed to detect methane gas and other potentially explosive hydrocarbons in harsh conditions. The instrument features Stay-Clir technology - a durable hydrophobic coating that prevents signal faults occurring as a result of condensation. In addition, the Stay-Clir coating Is resistant to contamination from dirt and dust. Click here
