Automatic coil storage system
with overhead stacker crane of
ARTABRO SAMDEU
The automatic storage / retrieval system for coils is constituted by a set of fixed shelves capable of storing up to 1200
coils with a maximum unit weight of 6300 kg, and a stacker crane which runs over the shelves. The stacker crane is
equipped with a rotating mast, on which the coil handling tool
moves, allowing manipulation of the coils in every direction.
The crane movements are automatic, controlled by a PLC.
The operator selects the coil to be removed or inserted in the
warehouse, and the crane moves automatically, depending
on the orders received and with reference to the positioning
signals received from the sensors installed
on the crane. The system includes input
and output tables for coils, which serve as
an interface between the automatic warehouse and conventional handling means
(forklifts, coil hooks, etc.). Systems with
bigger capacities can be supplied, taylored
to each customer’s needs.

• New Facility in Barcelona: Arcese has rented a 10,000

the ZAL Logistics Activities Area of the Port of Barcelona.

EKOL LOGISTICS
As an alternative to the classical land route connecting Turkey to Central and West Europe via East Europe and Balkanian countries, Ekol started to utilise the intermodal route
via Triest by 2008. The main idea was to connect Turkey to
Italy via sea and use the train network between Italy and
Germany. This would give the chance to be less dependent
on the driver performance and to eliminate the time spent
and costs that occur at country borders.
First year was a test and adaptation period with a limited
transportation volume, Ekol was able to transport only 1015 percent of the total traffic via intermodal route in 2009.
It was an investment period to adapt the trailer fleet to intermodal requirements and to increase the cross-docking
capabilities in the foreign branches for the incoing and outgoing cargo.
After 2011, weekly block train departures increased gradually and with new fleet investments and the total share of
the intermodal transportation reached up to 70-75 percent,
leaving only the urgent shipments with two drivers and the
destinations like Romania which are not feasible via intermodal route.
• Having the head office located at Istanbul, Ekol has
15 international offices in 9 different countries in Europe; Mannheim - Köln (Germany), Trieste - Novara (Italy),
Krasnova - Kalinovka - Stoyanka (Ukraine), Thessaloniki
- Athens (Greece), Cavaillon (France), Barcelona - Ma-
drid (Spain), Budapest (Hungary), Bosnia Herzegovina and
Bucharest (Romania).

Need to save time and money getting your manufacturing project started?
As we continually promote the growing economy in the region, the City of El Paso’s Foreign Trade Zone has established
the Manufacturing Business Incentive. The MBI helps manufacturing companies expand their markets or compete on a
global scale through the use of El Paso’s Foreign-Trade Zone. The objective is easy: to help business grow by reducing
the start up cost and speeding up the approval process for a manufacturing business to set up in FTZ No. 68.
Start-up Incentives:
• Grantee application fee is waived.
• Grantee activation fee is waived.
• Grantee annual fee and transactions fees, if applicable, are waived for first year.
• Receive start up support from FTZ No. 68 Grantee/Operator.
FTZ Operations Training fees are also waived for up to four (4) key employees.
Selection criteria:
An application must be submitted to the FTZ Manager for review & approval. If the business is selected for the MBI, it
will sign an agreement with the City of El Paso.
The business must conduct manufacturing as defined by U.S. Customs regulations.
The business must apply for production authority through the U.S. Foreign Trade Zones Board, and be responsible for
paying consultant and FTZ Board Fees necessary to obtain manufacturing approval in a Foreign Trade Zone.
