FUEL QUANTITY INDICATION ISSUES
• LH/RH wing quantity
indication is
intermittent or
erratic.
• To help troubleshoot
the issue the 400A
fuel quantity test box
TE79-400A or the inshop made breakout
box (see AMM 2841-00-101) can be
used.
FUEL QUANTITY INDICATION ISSUES
• Mid Fuel Probe
Installed Upside
Down Relative to the
Rest Of The Probes.
• Probe Is Mounted
Just Outboard Of
The Collector
Chamber.
• Access Is through
the wing second
most inboard fuel
tank panel.
• Remove prove,
clean and air dry
probe and
connectors.
MLG SIDE STRUT LEVER
• Lever Compresses
the MLG Down-Lock
Switch
• Corrosion and Lack
of Lubrication
Causes Lever Pin to
Bind
• A binding lever
mechanism may not
properly compress
the related down lock
switch which will
cause L/G
extend/indication
problems
MLG SIDE STRUT LEVER
• Pin Has Forward and
Aft Lube Point.
• Insure Lube Flows Out
From Side Strut
Bushings.
RUDDER BOOST
• Rudder Boost Fail Light Illuminates
• Rudder Boost Fail Light Illuminates with Yaw Damp Disengagement at the
same time
 “FCS Diagnostic” fault code
retrieval must be
done prior to turning off the
Radio Master switches.
Codes are stored in
Volatile Memory.
 Look for any non-zero
REPAIR, YD DIS, YD ENG
and BOOST codes.
Record all six digits
or take picture of screen
and call Tech Support
for Decode.
RUDDER BOOST
• Rudder Boost Fail Light Illuminates
 AMM section 27-21-00-201. Rudder Boost System Test – Engine Ground
Operating Procedure
 Monitor the Bleed Air Transducer voltages in the “Input Mode” of FCC
Diagnostics on the Pilot’s MFD
 Look for the BLEEDL and BLEEDR transducer voltages to be within .04 volts
 If any of these voltages do not match the others, swap pressure transducers
to eliminate wiring to the FCC’s and determine if pressure transducer is at fault
 If these voltages are approximately equal, the problem is most likely not the
transducers and could be related to an erroneous DAU output or annunciator
problem
RUDDER BOOST
• Rudder Boost Fail Light Illuminates with Yaw Damp Disengagement
at the same time
 Faulty engine bleed air transducer is less likely and points towards a
Rudder Servo or FCC
 Servo and FCC Test Procedures are located in the Maintenance section
of the Collins Avionics System Manual p/n 523-0775807

LH/RH BUS TIE ¾ AMP C/B POPS INTERMITTENTLY
• During ground or flight
operations the LH or
RH Bus Tie ¾ amp c/b
pops.
• After resetting c/b it
may stay set for a
while or pop soon
after.
• The ¾ c/b can be
checked by pulling it
and setting it to see if it
feels defective.
• Confirm there are no
shorts from the Bus
Tie RCCB to the
Feeder RCCB’s.
LH/RH BUS TIE ¾ AMP C/B POPS INTERMITTENTLY
RCCB p/n 45AS88810-3
• Majority of time the
fault is in the LH/RH
Bus Tie Remote
Control C/B (RCCB).
• The RCCB is located
in the aft power
distribution panel.
• The RCCB current
sense internal logic
circuits go bad and
provides a signal to ¾
amp c/b to pop as if
there was an
overcurrent condition.
ENGINE WILL NOT ROTATE ON START
• The LH/RH engine start
switch is pressed and the
engine will not rotate. A ‘clunk’
or ‘shuttering’ may be noted
instead.
• One of two components are
the usual cause of this. One is
the Gen Field RCCB and the
other is the nacelle mounted
Generator Current
Transformer (CT).
ENGINE WILL NOT ROTATE ON START
• If the start switch button does not
stay lit after pushing it the fault
may be the field RCCB.
• The LH/RH RCCB is located in the
aft power distribution box.
• The RCCB internal switch contacts
for the aux start relay develop high
resistance which makes the engine
try to start using the generator
contactor instead of the start
contactor.
• The RCCB switch contact can be
troubleshot using the GCU
connector contact ‘Z’. Normal
resistance through contact is aprox
290-300 ohms.
RCCB P/N SM600BA10A1
ENGINE WILL NOT ROTATE ON START
• If the start switch button
stays lit then the fault may
be the engine mounted CT.
• The CT is part of the
ground fault protection
circuit for the generator
power output cable.
• There are two CT’s per
generator system, but the
one at the engine is the
one that fails due to its
harsh environment.
• To confirm if the fault is in
the CT both CT’s on the
problem side are bypassed.

ULB 90 DAY BATTERY REQUIREMENT
• On Dec 1, 2015 the FAA’s TSO-C121b requires all newly manufactured
Underwater Locator Beacons (ULB) to comply with a 90 Day minimum
duration.
• There is currently no requirement to retrofit a 30 day ULB to a 90 day ULB.
The FAA hopes to move the 30 day ULB to the 90 day ULB through attrition.
The 30 day ULB’s can be used as long as they are serviceable.
• EASA Notice of Proposed Amendment (NPA) indicates that European aircraft
will however be mandated to carry only the 90 day ULB.
• 30 day ULB’s are no longer available for sale with a valid TSO certification
and can only be maintained. Batteries for these units will continue to be
produced.
• 90 day ULB replacement on recorder
device will not change CVR or FDR
part number. Will be a MOD Plate strike.
