The National Guide Right Committee declares the month of May to hold an
annual National Kappa League College Signing Day event. A program of the
Diamonds In the Rough College Achievement and Scholarship Initiative, this
month long occasion aims to showcase the national achievements of Kappa
Leaguers whom are mostly young men of color from underserved communities
by celebrating their acceptances to post-secondary institutions. These national
events also serve as an inspiration to all youth, educational and community
based organizations working towards the effort of closing the achievement gap.
The main purpose of this event is to celebrate the academic excellence,
achievements and future aspirations of our seniors that are taking the next step
in their academic future.
On Saturday, May 3, 2015, the Arlington-Grand Prairie Guide Right Foundation
held its’ 2nd Annual “National College Signing Day” at the Sheraton Hotel in
Arlington, Texas. In attendance were the Brothers of Arlington-Grand Prairie
Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc., members of the ArlingtonGrand Prairie Guide Right Foundation, family, and friends.
The Arlington-Grand Prairie Guide Right Foundation Chairman, Mr. Draon Glenn
introduce the 10 seniors to the audience and proceeded with the National
Signing Day Program. Each senior announced their college and major while
receiving their college hat. After the announcement, the seniors signed letters
of intent which outlined their commitment to achievement, being a leader and
continued effort to be Men of Excellence.

National COLLEGE Signing Day Commitment Agreement
I, _______Akil Sanders_____, hereby declare, on oath that I will
continue to strive for academic and personal excellence during my
matriculation at__Tuskegee University_____. I further promise that,
although my High School days and time in the Beautillion Program are
coming to close, I will forever utilize the lessons, information and
mentorship provided me to continue my evolution as a leader and
achiever committed to serving our communities for the greater good.
I further affirm that I will serve as a positive influence and role model
to future generations of young males within in the Beautillion
Program and beyond the Beautillion Program. Along my
path of Achievement, I promise to seek continued guidance and
support from my mentors and advisors within the Arlington Grand
Prairie Guide Right Foundation and the Arlington-Grand Prairie Alumni
Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Most importantly, I promise
to always strive to make my parents, family, friends, teachers, advisors
and the entire Arlington-Grand Prairie community proud of the young
man that they have helped mold me to become. All this I attest on this
3rd day of May, 2015.
