Revision is a series of retrofit
products designed to update
existing luminaires with modern
lamp/ballast systems and/or
optical packages. These products
allow significant energy savings
to be realized without the need
for entirely new luminaires and
their associated installation costs.
The Revision products require less
labor to install, do not require the
ceiling to be disturbed, and in many
cases do not require a licensed
electrician for installation. Each
retrofit product will have its own
individual name while the Revision
title will encompass all Day-Brite
retrofit products.

WW Select Retrofit (WSR)
- Designed to retrofit existing parabolic or deep troffer luminaires with T12 or T8 lamps to a
2-lamp louvered configuration for reduced energy consumption and improved lighting quality.
- Compatible with 2x2 or 2x4 luminaires, does NOT require existing units to be Day-Brite.
- 2-lamp cross-section reduces the number of lamps to install and maintain.
-
Includes louver, telescoping reflector assembly, ballast box, support ends and lamps.
Ballast box comes with ballast installed and lampholders prewired.
Minimum existing housing depth 4-3/8”.
2x2 minimum internal housing length 23-15/16” for T8 lamps, shorter housings can be
accommodated using T5 lamps.
Instruction sheet is available at www.daybrite.com to illustrate the installation process,
typical installation time is less than 5 minutes.
Single point of contact for warranty claims - retrofit, standard ballast and standard lamps are all
made by Philips.
A trial installation is recommended before ordering project quantities.
See spec. sheets 277-PLV and 278-PLV for more information.
- Louver is a high efficiency design with a highly reflective matte white finish, improves optical
efficiency compared to existing parabolic louvers.
- Non-parabolic design with “blade” type cross baffles (either smooth or ribbed) provides a
photometric distribution with a small amount of high angle light, eliminating the “cave effect” of
traditional parabolics.
- 12-cell louver for 2x4 models, 6-cell louver for 2x2 models.
- Louvers include spring loaded latches, can be hinged down from either side.
- High efficiency T8 systems will provide the best energy savings, T5 and T5HO are also
available.
- Energy savings up to 47% can be achieved compared to an existing 3-lamp or 4-lamp T8/
electronic parabolic.
- Energy savings can approach 60% when retrofitting 2x4 T12/magnetic products.
- Total lumen package can frequently be reduced compared to the parabolic configuration since the
high angle light provided by the retrofit will make the space seem brighter and larger.
Examination of existing levels is recommended, reduced level may be appropriate.

configuration for reduced energy consumption.
- Compatible with 2x2 or 2x4 luminaires, does NOT require existing units to be Day-Brite.
- 2-lamp cross-section reduces the number of lamps to install and maintain.
- Designed for 3-row or 4-row louver applications.
- Includes telescoping channel assembly, reflector and lamps.
- Retains existing louver, included reflector maintains even cell illumination at normal viewing
angles.
- Channel assembly comes with ballast installed and lampholders prewired.
- 2x2 minimum existing housing length 23-15/16” for T8 lamps, shorter housings can be
accommodated using T5 lamps.
- Instruction sheet is available at www.daybrite.com to illustrate the installation process,
typical installation time is less than 5 minutes.
- Single point of contact for warranty claims - retrofit, standard ballast and standard lamps are
all made by Philips.
- A trial installation is recommended before ordering project quantities.
- See spec. sheets 281-PLV and 282-PLV for more information.
- High efficiency T8 systems will provide the best energy savings, T5 and T5HO are also
available.
- Energy savings up to 19% can be achieved compared to standard 3-lamp T8/electronic
systems.
- Energy savings up to 30% can be achieved compared to existing 4-lamp T8/electronic systems,
with a slight reduction in light levels (approx. 8%).
- Energy savings can approach 50% compared to 3-lamp or 4-lamp T12/magnetic systems.
- Examination of existing light levels is highly recommended, reduced levels may be
appropriate and will provide additional energy savings.
- Energy savings are lower than the WW Select Retrofit since the existing louver is retained
which limits optical performance compared to the Select louver.

Revision Questions and Answers
Q: Will the parabolic/troffer retrofits fit ANY existing parabolic/troffer product?
A: The WW Select retrofit requires a housing depth of at least 4-3/8”. The internal retrofits should accommodate any housing
depth used for those product types. All 2x2 models require a housing length of at least 23-15/16” to fit T8 lamps (existing
products could be shorter if designed for U-lamps or CF) although T5/T5HO could be used in a shorter housing. Within
the limitations above, the retrofit products should fit the vast majority of existing luminaires. It is not possible for us to test
every product that could be encountered, so a trial installation is strongly suggested before ordering project quantities. We
can provide a sample for that purpose.
Q: Are there advantages to the parabolic/troffer retrofits (compared to the existing lighting system)
besides energy savings?
A: Yes! All of the retrofit products are 2-lamp cross-section, if the existing product contains three or four lamps then the
retrofit will have fewer lamps to maintain. Modern lamps are available with significantly longer lamp life than many existing
lamps to further reduce maintenance requirements. The Select retrofit adds a new photometric distribution to improve
quality of lighting.
Q: What is the preferred lamp/ballast system?
A: The typical recommendation will be a high lumen T8 lamp with a high efficiency ballast of the ballast factor needed to provide the desired lumen package for the application. This combination will provide the best energy efficiency and offers other
advantages like longer lamp life.
Q: Are the lamps and ballast accessible from below?
A: Yes, the lamps and ballast are accessible from below on all of the products.
Q: Why isn’t photometric information available for the Internal Parabolic Retrofit or Internal Troffer
Retrofit?
A: The photometry of the internal products will be dictated by the depth and design of the housing and the
configuration of the existing louver or lens, so we cannot accurately predict the photometry for those products when installed. In general, it is safe to assume that optical efficiency will be at least as high as the existing product in its unmodified
form.
Q: Is bi-level switching available?
A: While two ballasts can be provided, all of the recessed Revision products use a 2-lamp cross-section which would provide
an asymmetric appearance if one lamp was switched off. Step dimming is recommended for bi-level
requirements rather than separate switching.
Q: Can you help with a comparison of energy use and/or life cycle cost?
A: Yes, our Applications Engineering department can help with those comparisons.
Q: How does the “single point of contact” work regarding warranty claims?
A: Because the retrofit product, ballast and lamp are all made by Philips companies, there is only one place to contact with any
warranty items - there is no need to decide which vendor (luminaire, ballast or lamp) to contact.
www.daybrite.com
Q: Can another brand of ballast or lamp be specified?
A: Absolutely. Any brand of ballast or lamp may be specified. The only caveat is that the system will no longer have a single
point of contact in the event of a warranty item.
