Aurélie Laflamme is a fourteen-year-old girl—a bit shy,
pretty funny and very clumsy—who feels like she’s been
left behind on Earth by some extraterrestrials after an
intergalactic journey! Aurélie is still grieving the loss of her
father, who died when she was nine. Her sense of humor and
her determination helped her overcome this ordeal. But
once you turn fourteen, a whole new range of explosive
emotions inevitably show up to complicate your life.
With humor and sensitivity Aurélie Laflamme faces the hazards of teen life, such as friendship (and the sacrifices she
must make to preserve it); academic success (loaded with
obstacles, especially when you have the feeling they’ve
transplanted squirrel synapses into your brain by mistake),
the desire to see her mother find a boyfriend who’s good for
her (and to make sure she doesn’t fall for just any-oldbody!) and of course, love.
The Diary of Aurélie Laflamme, is the story of an ordinary
teenager in search of her place in the universe. To find it, like
the heroes of epic fantasy, she will have to fight any number
of monsters and demons. But hers are in her heart...
A literary success
The series was originally launched in Quebec in 2006 and
the eight volumes have sold over a million copies (bestsellers in Quebec generally average sales of 3,000 copies)!
It is one of the biggest hits in the history of Quebec literature.
The series was launched in France in autumn 2010 with
sales of over 500,000 copies. It has assumed a solid position
on the list of “teen chick lit” favorites.
Two movies: An international success
In Quebec, the first film, based on volumes 1 and 2, pulled in
over $1M at the box office in a market where success is defined by $300,000 in sales. The film Aurélie Laflamme’s Diary
has traveled to festivals around the world and been received
with great success, winning three prestigious awards.

India Desjardins loves chocolate, doesn’t like having to move to
a new home, has invented lots of reasons not to go camping,
makes at least three mistakes a day and has a completely uncontrollable brain. Here, the comparison ends with Aurélie Laflamme. Following a ten-year career in journalism, the author
began doing what she most likes to do: writing fiction. Le journal
d’Aurélie Laflamme is written for teenagers, an audience that
she particularly likes. Her book Le Noël de Marguerite (illustrations by Pascal Blanchet) won the prestigious 2014 Ragazzi
award for fiction at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

V1 - EXTRATERRESTRIAL… OR JUST ABOUT!

At fourteen, Aurélie Laflamme doesn’t feel particularly close to anyone. Since her father
died, her mother has become some sort of a zombie, except all of a sudden, she’s back to life
(and even wearing edgy underwear!). Could there be a connection with Denis Beaulieu, the
school principal? (OMG!) As for her best friend, Kat, love has rendered her brain uncharacteristicly mushy. No way that’s happening to her, neither! But it seems no one is truly safe from
love at first sight... And in the middle of all this chaos, there’s only one thing Aurélie really
wants: to find her place in the universe.
All’s well in Aurélie’s life! Total harmony reigns in her family (if you exclude the differences of
opinion she still maintains with her mother about how to run the household). In addition, since
she started dating a popular guy, her social life has been turned upside down. New friends, the
respect of her peers, going out, getting away with cracking jokes in class... What more could
she ask for? Nothing. Except maybe a paranormal power to divide herself in two. Because in
addition to learning to balance her school, family, love and social lives, she needs to open up to
new areas of interest (the sports played by her boyfriend), manage her image (so she can get
accepted by her new group), but, above all, remain herself (not easy in the midst of all this
craziness). For a girl who has never been that great at math, Aurélie adds accomplishments,
subtracts some friends, feels split in two and multiplies the number of complications!
V2 - ABOUT TO LOSE IT!

Aurélie’s had enough! Her mother’s so completely immature! That explains why she takes up
Internet chatting to get a boyfriend! Even if you never know what kind of maniac you could
be chatting with! Then her best friend, Kat, already suffering from a broken heart, rebels
against every male on planet Earth (even her own father) and proposes the two girls sign a
pact not to have boyfriends until they graduate from high school! Aurélie’s heart is torn between her promise to her best friend and her feelings for Nicolas, which are becoming
stronger every day. And to top it off, her new neighbor is pretty invasive and Aurélie has to
bear down to improve her grades... Phew!
Before celebrating her sixteenth birthday, Aurélie has a whole list of things to get done: finish
her senior year (mandatory for getting into a good university), find a job (mandatory according
to her mother), pack (mandatory according to the movers) and above all, remain calm. Moreover, she has to mentally prepare for a few days of camping (an activity she hates) with her
grandparents. But what if she decided to actually stay there and learn to live totally in the
wild? After all, despite the presence of potentially dangerous animals, the lack of Internet connection and the existence of a few really giant spiders, the great outdoors can be beneficial to
just about anyone (especially if you want to get really far away from a new home you didn’t
ever really want to inhabit...). Even if big-time changes are sometimes terrifying, it’s time for
Aurélie to stow away her fears, pack up her troubles and look forward to the future.

V7 - FULL OF SECRETS
On the eve of her fifteenth birthday, Aurélie Laflamme decides it’s about time she became more
mature. It’s simply not acceptable to continue being invaded by all sorts of uncontrollable emotions! Regardless of her breakup with Nicolas, her disappointing grades and the fact that her
mother is taking a trip across the Atlantic with her new boyfriend (possibly evil), Aurélie (aided by
all the chocolate she can get her hands on) has every intention of staying calm. Good thing the
school year’s almost over, she’ll finally be able to catch her breath and put her new attitude into
practice! Over the holidays, Aurélie goes to the country to stay at her grandmother’s. If she imagined she’d be spending the summer in a totally peaceful place (just shy of depressing), listening
to the sparrows chirping and watching earthworms performing their traditional mating dances, in
all actuality, a host of adventures await her.
Aurélie is entering into her final year of high school. Since everything’s been going okay in
her personal life, she really wants to concentrate on her studies. But her attention is easily
diverted from her academic ambitions—and not only because some YouTube clips are downright hilarious—especially when everyone around her begins to act mysteriously! Her mother, with whom she seemed to have reached an unprecedented level of peace and harmony,
changes—in a way that is just as subtle as it is incomprehensible—into an absolute monster. Her best friend starts acting bizarre around her ex. Aurélie quickly discovers that having a boyfriend, even if he’s the one we’ve dreamed of forever, can definitely complicate
things. As if all that wasn’t enough, she can’t connect with any of her new teachers and
freezes up completely when they ask her about her plans for her future. To figure out what
she really wants, she must climb out of her shell and take a look at her true emotions.

The winds of change are blowing through Aurélie’s life. The closing of her private-girls-schoolwith-uniforms has forced her (after losing a fierce battle of rockpaper- scissors against her

now facing a daily and seemingly intractable problem: what to wear each morning? After all,
she has to have everything going for her in order to face her most recent worst enemy: the new

Blais (aka Satan reincarnated) is increasingly around, which becomes totally unbearable.
The time for procrastinating is over! With just a few months to go before finishing high
school, Aurélie has little time to devote to her personal life: she must fill out all her college
admissions forms, settle on a career path and, above all, manage to convince herself that all
her neurons are still firing correctly. But with a prom to prepare for (difficult when you have
no sense of style or particular talent for finding a handsome date), her ability to stay on task
will be sorely tested. Other things are going on that require Aurélie to deviate from her plans.
Between her mother’s pregnancy and her friends’ complicated love lives, she must confront
her past, her fears and her personal wounds. In this volume, which marks the end of her
fantastic and moving adventures, Aurélie discovers that to become the woman she wants to
be, she must make peace with her past and accept herself as she truly is.
