Film Biography - Bradley Patrick
BRADLEY PATRICK - BIOGRAPHY
Bradley Patrick is not only one of Australia’s leading Specials & Unit Stills Photographers but also
one of the industry’s most promising Directors. Having brought his skills as a photographer to
over 49 Feature Films and 32 TV Shows many producers & distribution companies have also
engaged Patrick’s services well beyond the stills camera.
His ability to dissect a feature film visually from script to screen has contributed to many
successful marketing campaigns in the areas of Unit Stills & Specials/Key Art Photography.
After spending several years living & working in the US, Bradley returned to Sydney in 2005 after
being handpicked by Nicole Kidman as her photographic Technical Consultant on US Film, FUR
based on the life of legendary photographer, Diane Arbus. He then went on to work alongside
Oscar Award winning Director, David Denneen on feature film, RAVENSWOOD.
Executive Producer, Anna Fawcett hired Bradley for both UNIT STILLS & SPECIALS
PHOTOGRAPHY for a number of reasons; “We chose Bradley as both our Unit Stills &
Specials Photographer based on his portfolio, his personality and his creative input. He is
definitely a great part of the team and has worked closely with us to ensure that we give
our movie the best chance possible to succeed.”
Bradley has also spent many years working alongside Australian Film Distributors, producing a
set of PR/Marketing images that would assist in editorial placement for their carefully timed
distribution campaigns and has always had a thorough understanding of film publicity & marketing
through his collaborations with Photo Producer, Leigh Taylor.
Together the team formed SugarLove Pictures in the late 90’s to service what they believed was
a giant hole in the way imagery was applied to the post production & distribution stages of film
making. Executives at UIP, Icon, Dendy, Becker, Roadshow & Dreamworks were supportive of
their visions from day one.
Xanthe Bates, National Publicity Manager at Sony Pictures "After working with Bradley on
many films over the years we always know he will get fantastic shots. Bradley has the
ability to make the actors and filmmakers feel at ease whilst delivering beautiful images.
His passion for all aspects of filmmaking shines through and is testament to his Australian
& International success as a Specials Photographer.”
Throughout his years in the US Bradley worked regularly for Dreamworks on Special/Key Art
Assignments with actors such as Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Jack
Black, Uma Thurman, Ben Affleck, Julie Andrews, Rupert Everett & John Cleese.
In 2006 he worked on the distribution campaigns with Toni Collette for LIKE MINDS along with
Ray Winstone & Emily Watson for THE PROPOSITION in Adelaide.
Sarah Gerlach from Bluewater notes; “Time limitations are the hardest piece of the puzzle
when shooting specials. Bradley is well known for working at an incredibly fast pace and
delivering perfectly lit images time after time. He will always bring some great ideas to the
table before the shoot, some fly some don’t which ultimately could be about the mood of
the actor on the day to matching the visual message we are trying to sell on a film”.
Some of Bradley’s first film poster shoots included STRANGE BEDFELLOWS starring Michael
Caton & Paul Hogan for DENDY and the THE RAGE IN PLACID LAKE poster for Palace Films.
When asked which appeals the most he says; “ Each image suits the final output on the
screen. After reading the script, researching the characters and working through pre
production ideas with the client, I also like to present several options for the poster.”
Deb Fryers (ex DENDY Marketing Manager) says; “Having worked with Bradley in
several capacities: unit stills photographer, publicity shoots & poster images , I was in
awe at his ability to shoot the highest of quality and quantity and all the while having the
utmost respect for time restrictions and crazy demands. Bradley has an incredible sense
of vision and rigour, his understanding of what the client needs is so valuable. Within the
film business he still has the ability to deliver his work like a piece of art.”
Another set of Marketing & PR Stills covered on the day for Palace Films when shooting for THE
RAGE IN PLACID LAKE included portraits of Rose Byrne & Ben Lee. (see below)
Bradley’s UNIT STILLS work
has included MIRAMAX
pictures - THE GREAT RAID
& THE QUIET AMERICAN

Bradley has also completed a number of creative photography projects outside his work on films.
The first, being an ongoing series of portraits on Australian Directors. Director/Phillip Noyce was
included in the series which later became a finalist in the 2003 Archibald Photographic Prize
Clearly relaxed enough to provide feedback on the project Phillip Noyce says “Bradley has the
kind of no nonsense personality that allows him to bring the best out of big or little stars
and directors. He is fast and efficient, easy going but confidence building, creative but
uncomplicated. Most of all he has a good eye for capturing human moments”.
