Vanuatu issued 162 prospecting licenses for
DSM of which 102 are active.
Govt taken initiative to ensure proper
consultation and appropriate regulatory
framework is put in place to regulate this new
industry.
Vanuatu drafted DSM policy with provisions
for the people of Vanuatu to participate in
decision making on DSM matters.
Vanuatu is still in its Consultation process









million/annum (informal sector is a key element
for development)
 The importance of Information for better decision
making (precautionary approach).
 Environment consideration is of high importance.
 Being a finite resource the benefits will consider
present and future generations.

