Inabout4months,we'llbegoingtothepollstoelectanewpresident.Anditseems
asthoughnobodyishappyaboutit.Ourcountryaswellasourworldispolarized
overpolitics,race,genderandreligion.Weliveinanincreasinglyoppositional
climateinwhichfewofuscanviewsomeonefavorableiftheyarenotinourown
tribe.EvenChristianscan'tseemtoagree.
Thetransformationthatourcountry,world,thateachofusdeeplyneedsthough
won'tcomefromapoliticalleader.It'salltooeasytoforget,butI'mremindedofSt
Paul'swords;"youmustputasideyouroldselfwhichhasbeencorruptedbyfollowingillusorydesires.Yourmindmustberenewedaspiritualrevolution."Ephesians
4:22-23
ThechangewillultimatelyonlycomethrougharelationshipwithGodinChrist
Jesus.ThroughtherenewingofourmindthatStPaulspeaksabout,webecome
followersofChristandchangeournarrativethatthepersonwithwhomIdisagreeis
notmyenemy,butabrotherorsisterinChrist.Thenwecangoaboutthebusiness
oflovingothersasChristlovedus.

Soap Collection for Lutheran World Relief
It'sAugustagainandtimeforourannualcollectionofbarsof
SOAPforLutheranWorldRelief.Thisorganizationhelpshundredsofthousandsofpeoplearoundtheworldevery
year.Andwecanhelp!LWRacceptsnewbarsofanybrand,
initsoriginalwrapping.Bath-sizebars(4.5oz.)arehighly

Annual FISH Benefit Dinner | Tuesday, September 20
This year marks the 9th Annual FISH Bene it Dinner. It will be held at Hartville
KitchenonTuesday,September20at6:00p.m.(Doorsopenat5:30p.m.).Ticketsare
still $25 and will be available in August from Ginny Kamerer, Ed Ody or Andy
Pressler. Entertainment will feature Harry “Canary” Arble, a local vocalist. This is
FISH’slargestfund-raiserandtheyhopetoonceagainhaveasell-outcrowd.
