BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Kenya’s Northern Archipelagos are the most beautiful
marine systems on the coastline. Still very wild,
remote, and mostly untouched, you can expect to see
marine and terrestrial life in its raw form. Scattered
with hundreds of bays, islands, reefs, and semiemergent atolls, the archipelago also boasts Kenya’s
largest expanse of mangrove forest. From the Tana
River Delta in the South to the Northern Islands of
Kiwayu, Simambaya, and Kui; game and wildlife still
roam free. There are several marine parks in the area
with pristine beaches and uninhabited islands.
The Swahili culture here is very strong. Islands like
Lamu and Pate are fascinating cultural experiences;
including the annual Lamu dhow race, the Lamu
cultural festival, and the traditional dhow building.
THE FISHING EXPERIENCE
Variety is the driver for any fisherman’s desire to explore
new territory. The Northern Archipelagos can never
disappoint; from fly fishing the flats and mangrove
forests, to jigging and popping for GT’s and amberjacks,
dredging for tuna and wahoo, to blue water fishing for
billfish on conventional or fly gear.
Tuna, dorado, mackerel, and jacks are usually kept for
dinner, while all seafood is plentiful here. wt 9ft rods are
more practical due to casting distances, fly size, and
windy conditions.
Days can be spent doing a combination of fishing
techniques, as most fishing hot spots are close together.
Deep water ledges are found a few miles offshore, while
the maize of inshore lagoons, coral atolls, and ledges are
endless and very vast.

Another fantastic way to enjoy this part of the world is with the family or a large group of friends.
There are options to combine fishing trips with kayaking, diving, kite surfing, sailing, dhow trips,
island hopping, snorkelling, and scenic flights.
ITINERARY
Spend your days cruising between the
islands of Lamu and Simambaya stopping
at sandbars, flats, coral reefs, ledges, and
drop offs. Use the yacht’s 23ft. skiff, dingy,
and kayaks to reach the often untouched
mangrove forests and coastal lagoons.
With plenty of pristine reefs and
untouched beaches, snorkelling and
walking are also great ways o enjoy the
afternoons and “no fishing” days.
