Diffusion Audio Sales Training - Torpedo Live
The Torpedo Live - Professional Digital Loadbox
What is it - Torpedo Live is a high-end Guitar/Bass DI including analog reactive loadbox (for use with
tube amps) with high quality sampled speaker-cabs (sampled = impulse responses aka IR’s) and miking
simulations (IR’s). 32 ultra-realistic speaker-cabs, 8 mic models, 8 power-amp emulations with USB
Remote software. Perfect for silent playing, tracking, re-amplification & mixing.
Who is it for - This is a unique new product that has three distinct applications and potential customer
groups: Recording - Live - Practice
1 - For all levels of recording customers
Guitar Player 12/12 "....the illusion was uncanny. The Torpedo Sounded so natural and familiar, I just closed my eyes and enjoyed
playing, oblivious to the fact I was going cabinet-free." "Kudos: Adds a stunningly realistic speaker sim DI to any tube amp"
The new normal for the Modern Studio. The Torpedo Live simplifies and streamlines the challenges of
tracking a driven tube amp in a non ideal/traditional recording environment. The most notable would be
the modern home, project or modern single room recording studio where there is a lack of high end
isolation or depth in pre-amp, mic and cabinet variety.
The Traditional Studio. The Torpedo Live expands the potentials and simplifies traditional techniques of
tracking a driven tube amp with the proper isolation with the correct pre-amp and mic variety. The first
plus is it will eliminate microphone bleed by allowing silent tracking of a tube amp in the same space as
other acoustic instruments while capturing a group performance. The second is the significant increase of
cabinet selection, re-amplification techniques and complex miking options in post production.
Sales Pitch - “Record a screaming tube amp at 2am without waking up the neighborhood”! Tracking
guitar in your home studio just got easy with Torpedo Live.
Value Pitch - it would be awesome to own a dozen cabs and all the best mic’s. 40K of Guitar Cab IR's,
9K of Bass Cab's and 7K of Mic models. Next best thing to the real thing.
The Secret Sauce Feature - most cabinet IR’s are one off’s - each Torpedo cabinet is sampled with
each mic from multiple exact positions front and back of the cab. The ‘secret’ to the Torpedo technology is
how perfectly these IR’s are utilized while moving the Mic’s position in the virtual space (via on board
control of best via the remote software) - you can also import and make your own IR’s.

2 - For live guitar or bass players and FOH engineers
The silent stage killer. From house of worship to big name touring - silent stage with in ear monitors is
becoming more prevalent every week. This trend is to the dismay of guitar players that prefer tube amps
they believe are quintessential to their playing technique and sound. The Torpedo Live’s analog reactive
100W RMS loadbox plus exceptional speakers IR’s liberates the guitar player the horrors of a silent
stage.
Front of House Engineers rejoice. The Torpedo Live expands the potential an ease of live sound when
on stage amplification is used. Instead of miking the stage cabinet, FOH engineers get the guitar or bass
players house feed from the Torpedo Live while the guitar player patches their amp ‘thru’ to their real cab
or ‘out’ to a powered stage monitor.
Sales Pitch - “Keep your tube amp, keep your pedals - just add in ear monitors”! Slay the silent stage
with Torpedo Live
Value Pitch - simplified no hassle road rig with a plethora of Cab IR's and Mic models to create the
perfect sound for every song and venue. No feedback - no bleed - great live sound every time.
The Skinny on Pre-amps instead of Amps. You can get great sound from the Torpedo Live with just a
pre-amp & pedal board. The Torpedo Live has power amp simulation. This is the preferred deployment for
most bass players and many guitar players. This is why Two Notes developed the pedal version called
the Torpedo C.A.B. Critical point - most guitar player would be astounded at how good the Live and
C.A.B. sounds with just a guitar and pedal board. Amps are a critical aspect of the Guitar experience hence why we focus on the reactive loadbox feature of the Torpedo Live.
Secret Sauce Feature #2 - you can import any any kind of third party impulses (wav and aiff format) and
create your own IR’s a free app called Torpedo Capture. This would allow anyone to capture a single
state of their rig for use in the studio or onstage.

3 - For practice - all guitar and bass players
OR
I wish I had an isolated room. Guitar amps sound best when driven. However, not everyone has the
perfect space or the perfect practice schedule to crank it up anywhere or anytime. The Torpedo Live
allows for playing a driven tube amp anytime silently with headphones or at bedroom levels with any
monitoring solution.
Sales Pitch - “Practice with your tube amp anytime, anywhere - with headphones”! Playing loud - just got
quiet - a Guitar player’s (wife - mother - family - dog - children - neighbor) dream come true
Value Pitch - by far the best sounding silent silent guitar practice solution to date. Add 40K of Guitar Cab
IR's, 9K of Bass Cab's and 7K of Mic models and keep you tube amp hot - no one will mind.

Selling the Torpedo Live - Ideas and Objections
The BEST Video to date - Torpedo LIVE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nrpmUEku1s - key to this video is that
no real cabs or mic’s where used. Everything you hear is Tube Amp to Torpedo Live to DAW. The guy can play too.
The Torpedo technology is unique and in so - there is an awareness deficit that actually is opportunity.
This is a multi purpose product. We have focused on the three customer groups simply to provide some clarity on the
potentials of the product.
House of Worship - Home Studio - Pro Studio and all guitar players are potential easy sales.
Not many recording engineers or guitar players know there is an excellent solution for tracking/playing a driven tube
amp silently or at low monitor levels.
The post production options are amazing. Add the P1-101 WOS plugin (all the IR’s n Mics in software) and the
options explode. Use a cab sound on a vocal or rhodes sound etc.
There are other solutions similar to this but none that use this level of IR/DSP technology.
I believe the price of the Torpedo Live ($995) is solid given it's massive value in DSP plus reactive load properties. The C.A.B could be seen as 'expensive' ($549) but then again so is the Ventilator ($459) or the Eventide Space
($499) or the Pigtronix Echolution ($499). Each of these have very comparable DSP horsepower and there is a price
for that level of DSP. At Diffusion Audio we appreciate everything modeled such as the AxeF/X but we also know it's not the same as a real
amp.
We also know that telling a Guitar Player that his life long investment in Tube’s n Pedals should be replaced with a
modeled this or that - this product augments the customers historic investment. This is an easier close.
Value Prop expanded - there are 40K of Guitar Cab IR's, 9K of Bass Cab's and 7K of Mic models. I know owning the
real thing is always a better path but the value still remains. Also each cab consists of multiple separate IR's and not
filtered approximations of sound or movement in space. This is the foundation of the quality. One Silent Sister at
$999, you still need mic's and pre-amps - when you could get 57 different cabs and 8 mic's with Torpedo. "
SOS Review Excerpts “I was particularly impressed by the sonic potential inherent in the mic-positioning capabilities of the Torpedo“
“If you’re a guitarist with a selection of great-sounding valve (and even solid-state) amps, then the Torpedo VB101
should be at the top of your audition and shopping lists, because it will take you a long way towards getting the
sounds you want, both on stage and in the studio“
Guitar Player 12/12

oblivious to the fact I was going cabinet-free."
