Thank You! - Father Lacombe Care Centre Foundation
Fundraising Update
Understanding the value of community helped me to grow Tower Chrysler
over the past 44 years. I strived to create a warm and friendly atmosphere
from the moment you walked in the front door. I saw those same values
that helped to shape our successful business emulated at Father Lacombe
Care Centre. It was an easy decision for us to get on board early with the
campaign, leading the way and encouraging others to support Providence
Care Centre, building a much needed compassionate home for seniors in
our community.

Thank You!
For making our “begging journey”
$38.5 Million is the cost of the Providence Care Centre. Support from the Province of Alberta through their (ASLI) Affordable
Supportive Living Initiative grant ($16.5M), the Sisters of Providence ($4.1M), and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary ($2.9M),
totals $23.5M, leaving the remainder of $15M as our fundraising goal. Thanks to your generous support, to date we have raised
$3,092,177.

Funds Raised and Pledged
While we didn’t experience lengthy, dangerous trips by horseback, stage coach, wagon
or river boat, and didn’t have to fight off wolves, robbers, or battle forest fires,
our 2014 “begging journey” was a great success.

Thank you for your support without which we could not move closer to our goals.

Providence Care Centre—Chapel
Now that the construction of Providence Care Centre is well underway, we are turning our attention to the design and
construction of the Chapel and Wellness Centre which will promote the spiritual and physical wellness of those we serve.
Historically when you look at the role of the church in European villages, the church was central to the community and open to
all; our vision is to emulate this.
Memory Care Program
To take our care to the next level we are embarking on a new initiative within our Memory Care Program and we are delighted
with your interest in the Music & Memory Therapy program. With your support behind us, we are embarking on an exciting
personalized music therapy program. This program will enhance engagement and socialization of our residents with their
families and staff, resulting in a calm, caring social environment and, most importantly, a better quality of life for our residents.

Research shows that a personalized music playlists, delivered using i-pods or related digital audio devices, have the capacity to
transform quality of life for individuals struggling with a wide range of physical
and cognitive impairments.
The key is a personalized playlist.
The Music &Memory Therapy program will commence in the East Wing of the
Father Lacombe Care Centre where the number of residents with dementia is
greatest.
Initially two members of the Recreation Therapy team will undertake the
Music and Memory Therapy training, enabling the Father Lacombe Care Centre
to become a certified provider of the program.
The program will be monitored and evaluated and, as appropriate, will be rolled out to the West Wing residents and Adult Day
Program participants. Findings from this initial stage will guide the implementation of the program at the Providence Care
Centre. We look forward to sharing the results with you later this year. In the meantime, we would like to suggest that you
watch the documentary “Alive Inside” which is available on Netflix.
