A message
from the
President
It is with mixed emotions that I write my last Scorecard
article. It has been an honor to serve and a pleasure writing
for our Scorecard.

First, let me thank my fellow Board Members, current and
past, for serving with me on the Club Board and the current
Board for selecting me as your President. Next, my family
and friends for allowing me the time to serve our community
properly, and the Woodfield management team for its
support throughout my time as President. Last, but not least,
the Woodfield membership for its continued respect of my
personal life and time.
Accomplishments. After more than six years on the Board, I
can now proudly look back and see our accomplishments. There have been numerous
achievements during my tenure; price friendly offerings; affordability and stabilization of
dues; an enormous reduction of the debt; establishment of the golf relinquishment
program and its corresponding upgrade program; highest percentage of home sales year
after year when compared to our neighboring clubs; and my most personally satisfying
achievement, co-chairing the Hardship Committee.
For those members that are unaware of the existence of the Hardship Committee, its
purpose is to help members experiencing personal financial difficulties, so they are able to
remain part of the Woodfield family. In its four years of existence, over 50 families have
benefitted, and so has the Club and membership with a significant reduction in nonpaying members.
My challenges for future Boards. For many years now accountability has been superb
without micromanaging. Keep it as a priority without impacting member services. Next,
look closely at the golf relinquishment program and consider making it a permanent part
of our Club By-Laws. Third, review the Enhanced Guest Program. I feel positive benefits
could be achieved by offering it at all dues levels. Last, and most important, remember that
member satisfaction is first and foremost. Keep up the great work that has preceded you.
My challenges to the membership. Speak up when you are not satisfied. Let the Board and
management know your likes and dislikes. We welcome your suggestions, as our ultimate
goal is to exceed your expectations. Don’t be afraid to serve on the Club Board or a
Committee. It is quite an honor to participate. Attend meetings. Your input impacts our
decisions as well as the services and amenities the Club offers. Finally, use the Club and its
world-class amenities. Our Club provides an environment to socialize, dine and play, and
offers activities and services which enhance our lifestyle.
Thank you again for allowing me to serve you for the past six plus years.

Manager’s
moment
It is hard to believe the season will soon be drawing to a close. It
seems like we just rang in the New Year. Although some of our
busiest months are behind us, our calendar is as full as ever and
I hope to see you out enjoying many of our upcoming events.
Our sports facilities are bustling with activity. On Saturday and
Sunday, March 9 and 10, members will take to the courts and
claim Club Championship Titles in Men’s and Ladies’ Doubles.
Then, on Monday, March 18, the tennis center welcomes
Sebastien Grosjean for a thrilling tennis exhibition. The Golf
Department will host the Men’s and Ladies’ Member-Guest
Tournaments on Friday, April 5 and Tuesday, March 5,
respectively. These tournaments not only showcase our
world-class golf facilities, but also our outstanding culinary operations, as players are
treated to an exquisite breakfast and lunch.
Woodfield’s Annual Art Show will take place on Thursday, March 14. For the artists
among us, this is the perfect outlet to showcase your talent. All art mediums will be
on display, from sculptures to paintings and everything in between during our
gallery viewing.
Family fun will be at an all-time high at our Laser Tag event on Saturday, April 20.
Spend the afternoon lighting up the field with this twist on the classic game of tag.
Summer is approaching quickly, and with it comes long days of endless fun at
Woodfield’s Summer Camps. Early registration ends soon, and I encourage you to
register your children and grandchildren for weeks of enriching programming and
activities. Our Kids Kamp is introducing field trips this year that will surely keep the
little ones engaged! Turn to page 11 to learn more about our camps.
Speaking of summer, welcome its arrival in Woodfield style at our Summer Kick-Off
Party set for Friday, April 26. We have another fantastic party in store. Stay tuned for
more details on this complimentary event.

Summer is right around the corner, and parents know what that
means. Avoid the dreaded, “Mom, I’m bored!” this year by
signing up now for Woodfield’s Kids Kamp.
We’ve designed fantastic summer programs with weekly
themes to keep your little ones happily entertained right here at
Woodfield. Our Kids Kamp offers half day or full day programs
for Kute Koalas (ages 2-3) and Kool Kats (ages 4-8).
This year we’re kicking it up a notch by taking our Kampers on
exciting field trips to Boomers, Quiet Waters, Butterfly World,
Gumbo Limbo, Sugar Sand Park, bowling and the movies. On
days we stay at Woodfield, your children will enjoy swimming,
arts & crafts, cooking, Zumba and sports activities. Lunch and
snacks will be provided at Kids Kamp, and that means lots of smiling faces and
full tummies.
For kids who prefer tennis, we’re serving up Power Tennis Academy for children ages
5 and up. Our elite Tennis Pros will teach technique, smart tactics, determination and
overall approach in the game. With half day and full day options, your little pro will get
plenty of individual attention at their skill level.
Registration for all camps is open now! Discounts are available for early registration,
siblings and/or referring guests. Sign up your kids, grandkids and all their friends today.

WCC: Why did you choose to purchase a home in Woodfield? What part of Club
life most attracted you?
Bob and Lisa Marton
> The youth of the membership attracted us to Woodfield. We purchased a home in a family
friendly community, The Hamptons, and we enjoy the Club’s diverse offerings for the whole family. When our kids were little, we
used Kids Korner. Now that they are older, they use the fitness center and play a lot of tennis. I personally enjoy the tennis and the
fitness center, while Bob spends his time on the golf course. Not to mention that the food is amazing...we love Chef Bart.
WCC: What is your family’s favorite event to attend at Woodfield?
> We love the annual Season Opening Weekend. Bob and I look forward to the Season Opener evening on Saturday night, and
the kids love the BBQ on Sunday.
WCC: Mrs. Marton, as an active tennis player, what do you enjoy about Woodfield’s tennis program?
> I LOVE playing team tennis at Woodfield. We have the best facilities and tennis professionals. I enjoy my weekly practice where
I get to work on improving my skills, and the match play is competitive and fun. I like knowing that I have a schedule to play tennis
with my team each week. I also enjoy the tennis boot camps that are offered throughout the year. It’s nice being on a court with
three comparable players learning new skills and drills. It’s a great learning experience AND a great workout. Mixed Doubles on
Sundays are fun, too. It’s a nice way to mix up your game with new and different players. The tennis Member-Guest Tournament
is always fun. Woodfield really knows how to make our guests feel welcome and have a great day of tennis and lunch.
WCC: What Woodfield activities and amenities do you enjoy individually and as a family?
> I love using the fitness facility. Besides the equipment, I also like taking classes like TRX, boot camp and yoga. I enjoy walking
the Woodfield circle with my dog (FYI: the circle is 2.2 miles). I also play team tennis and adore the spa facilities. Bob plays in the
Men’s Golf League every Wednesday and enjoys the golf course on the weekends. Our children like the fitness facility and tennis.
All of us LOVE the restaurants throughout Woodfield. We use the Tiki area quite a bit and we also use Woodfield To Go during the
week, especially on busy nights. Bob and I also like going to the O Bar on Friday evenings.
WCC: When you are not enjoying the Woodfield amenities, what does your
family like to do?
> We like to get away. We go to Miami to see the Miami Heat and enjoy the city that is so
close to our home. During the summer we are in upstate NY enjoying the mountains and
lake living.

Swim Lessons
Swim lessons are offered daily at the pool and run $35 per
half hour. All swim levels are welcome, and lessons are taught
by our qualified pool staff. Children may use goggles, but
please refrain from using life vests or water wings.
Swim Technique Lessons
Training for a race? Want to improve your technique or get
back into swimming shape? Then, swim technique lessons
with Tara Glassover, Fitness & Aquatics Supervisor, are
for you. Tara is no stranger to the water, with an aquatic
background including competitive swimming though
college. She currently coaches the swim team at Monarch
High School in Coconut Creek. Half hour lessons with
Tara are $40, and hour lessons are $62.
