100 James Street, Edison will present “Kickoff
of The Sacred Table: A Discussion and Tasting of
Jewish Food Rituals and Ethical Values”. Taught by
Rabbi Mary Zamore, editor of “The Sacred Table:
Creating a Jewish Food Ethic.” This program will
be an interactive presentation pairing with a discussion of the Reform Jewish views of food and its
production with delicious food tastings. This two

Boy Scout Troop 110 of Edison is having their
annual Popcorn Show-n-Sell Fundraiser at Edison
Pizza on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Proceeds provide
necessary funding for all the excellent educational
and recreational programs that benefit our local
scouts. Come by to meet and support our Troop
110! Donations may also be made to send popcorn
packages to our military troops all over the world.

Join us for a friendly Halloween adventure
that includes crafts, games, haunted playground,
face painting, bounce house and much more at
the Metuchen Branch YMCA, 65 High Street
Metuchen on Friday, October 23. Unique Creatures
will be doing two shows. Pre-registered families
will see show one starting at 7:00 pm and families who pay at the door will see show two at 7:45
pm. The excitement starts at 7:00 pm! Tickets can
be purchased at the front desk of the Metuchen
YMCA. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes.
Pre-registration is $10 per family and $12 per

Join us for the 5th Annual Halloween Parade
scheduled for Sunday, October 25 from 2 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. Please note that this year the parade
will be held at Metuchen High School on the Track.
As always, all costumed youngsters are invited to
“trick or treat” at Chamber merchant tables; this
year around the high school track. The Fire Department will also be on hand and DJ Mitch will be
on the scene as well. And remember, it’s all part

Looking for some fun family Halloween activities in Metuchen? The Metuchen Recreation Commission is sponsoring a Family Pumpkin Carving
event on Saturday, October 24 beginning at 2:30
p.m. at the Metuchen Senior Center, 15 Center
Street. We will supply the pumpkins, carving tools
and snacks. Pre-registration is necessary!
Carved pumpkins will be floated on Tommy’s
Pond beginning at 7:00 p.m. PreSchool of Rock
will be performing at the pond during the float.
On Sunday, October 25, the Recreation Commission, along with the Metuchen Chamber of
Commerce are presenting the 5th Annual Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat. All costumed
youngsters are invited to “trick or treat” around

A Fall Happening is coming to Edison and the
whole family is invited. The township will celebrate autumn with this 4th annual event on Saturday, October 24. The Harvest Festi-Fall will take
place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Elder Park, on
the grounds of the Minnie B. Veal Community Center, 1070 Grove Avenue, with a variety of activities
for the entire family.
Food and craft vendors, kids’ games, pumpkin
decorating and face painting will all be part of this
FREE event along with DJ entertainment energizing the crowd with dance contests for the young
and young at heart.
Highlighting the “Fest” will be two contests that
will interest everyone.
Show off your creative “knifing” skills at our
“Pumpkin Carving Contest”; we will provide the
pumpkin and you supply the cutting tools. “We
were amazed at the creativity in the beautifully
carved pumpkins last year and look forward to seeing how they can be topped this year,” said Denise
Halliwell-De Santis, Recreation Director. “Our
children’s Halloween Costume Contest remains a
favorite among the visitors, but a tough job for the
judges,” she added.
Add a Bounce House and this will be a great day
for everyone.

will host a Make a Difference Day Program designed to encourage young kids to read on Saturday, October 24 at its Edison campus. Children age

author of the popular children’s book series Amelia

Zombies will invade Metuchen on Sunday, October
25 on a hungry hunt for canned goods and other nonperishables. The vile hoard of “walkers” will gather
at the Colonial Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. (on Main
Street at the foot of Woodbridge Avenue), and depart
soon after, moaning along Main Street and headed
towards the Old Franklin Schoolhouse, gathering
willing victims and cans of soup as they stumble
along the sidewalk. Why, because self-interested

In order for students, families and the community to achieve the highest level of wellness and
health awareness, the Metuchen High School PTO
will be hosting the first ever Health and Wellness
Fair. The health fair, which is free and open to the
public, will be held at the Metuchen High School,
400 Grove Avenue, on Tuesday, October 27 from 6
pm to 8 pm. Over 20 exhibitors will promote general health by delivering services, presentations and
educational materials. Attendees will learn fun and
safe ways to work, including cross-fit and Zumba,
relaxation techniques like yoga, how to cook delicious and healthy food, emergence care, and several other fun activities. Refreshments ill be provided
as well as free giveaways and more!
