New Leadership
Farewell to Jeff Hutto
Jeff’s term as President ended September 30, 2014. The President’s
Dinner was held September 25 as a tribute to the accomplishments of the
Club under his Leadership. Jeff named Tommy Thornhill as the Gilbert
E. Brooks Memorial Kiwanian of the Year. This award was much
deserved for Tommy’s dedication to the club in so many ways, including
recruiting new members and weekly speakers, serving as Emcee for the
Valentine’s Luncheon and graciously hosting the Club for the Oyster
Roast at his house on Wadmalaw Island.
Congratulations, Tommy!

Carnival
July 26
Awendaw
Windwood Farm Home for Children, Inc. was established in 1985 as a private,
non-profit long-term residential care program by a local businessman, Joseph L.
Tamsberg, Jr. . The program offers direct care, mentoring and emotional support in
a homelike setting for boys with social, emotional, learning and behavioral challenges.
The Carnival Day provides a day of escape and fun! Kiwanians gathered to set up and
run carnival games such as the Ring Toss, Balloon Pop, Donut Swing and many
more, as well as cook and serve a BBQ lunch.

Lowcountry Orphan Relief
Make a Child Happy Day
August 16
Folly Beach
Lowcountry Orphan Relief is a nonprofit organization that provides goods and
services to children who have been abused or neglected. Since 2006, they have clothed
over 14,000 children in the Tri-County area. They use 80% of all income given to them
to provide for the children’s needs. Their annual “Beach Day” hosts children from
group and foster homes. Kiwanis volunteers gathered to check in the kids, hand out
beach shoes, towels and sun screen, play in the water and on the beach and join in a
BBQ lunch. What a great day for kids that might not otherwise make it to the beach!

Annual Steak Night
Friday, July 18, 2014
Hobcaw Creek Plantation
The Annual Steak night was a great hit! A special
thanks to Brad and Misti Tapscott for the festive
decorations and perfectly seasoned and cooked
steaks! Jeff created excitement with the Queen of
Spades game by deciding to keep drawing until
there was a winner. Congratulations to Tom Fair
who took home quite a pot!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

will celebrate this historic
Centennial during our

K-Family
K-Family??!! Just like any good organization who believes in its mission enough
to perpetuate it, Kiwanis International knows in order to continue improving
the world for at least the next 100 years we have to “grow” more Kiwanians!
That’s exactly what Key Club, Circle K and the Aktion Club do. Did you
know we sponsor AT LEAST one of EACH of these clubs??
For more information, contact:
Key Club/Circle K: Marlene Augustine and Tom Wojslawowicz
Aktion Club: Ned Adams and Rusty Pickett
Invite a guest! Chances are, that’s
how you became a member -share
the experience!
