Rally for a Cure Results
This year this important event had 118 players, many from outside our club, and they were able to raise $9,300 for the
Susan G Komen Fund. Many generous business’ and private individuals donated silent auction items, and they were
treated to good weather and a fantastic lunch. The Discovery Bay Women’s Golf Club and Discovery Bay Breakers
co-chaired this event, and we want to thank all the volunteers and committee people that made the event a success.
Hopefully soon we will not have to have this event, but until then thanks for your support.
Results:
1st Place – Debbie Hundoble, Michelle Chess, Lacey Voeltz, and Kara Lotz
Closest to the Pin – Cate Lewallen at 5 ft 9.5 in.
Accuracy Drive – Linda Frank at 6 inches
Letter From The Superintendent
I am happy to tell you that the fairway aerating is complete and we will now be spot seeding where
necessary. Winter is soon approaching and we are busy preparing for the rains. Cleaning and repairing drains is
now a priority. We are still working on the bunkers, but unfortunately they are taking longer than expected. We
are now finishing up on #18 and will soon be starting #15.

“NEW” Sunday Evening Dining Format
On September 12th we started a new format for Sunday dinner. After much consideration, we decided to change our Family
Buffet to a casual Late Lunch/ Light Dinner Menu.
We are currently not receiving the amount of participation required to continue with the Family Buffet due
to the cost associated with this format.
Over the last year, we are averaging just forty people for our buffet and have
decided to offer a menu that is very affordable and all items
will be available for “Take Out” as well.
This menu will be available from 3:30-7pm and seating will be in the Grill and Fairway Room. “Take Out” orders will be
available by phone as well as in person and if picking up an order, we will relax the dress code to include denim so as to make it
convenient to come to the Club to pick up your order.
We will appreciate those reservations for parties larger than four,
call ahead of time so we can have a table set for you.
We understand that we do have some members who enjoy and support the current Sunday Buffet but unfortunately, we can no
longer offer this.
Perhaps we will be able to offer the buffet at some future time.
For those members who decide to dine here, our usual casual dress code applies.
We look forward to this new dining option and we hope that
our members will enjoy and support the change.
Thank You,
Club Management

New Addition to the Driving Range
Belonging to a Private Country Club
is a very rewarding experience as it
allows you to be outside with nature on
a beautiful course spending time with
friends. However it is also great if you can
learn to improve at golf as that will give
you even greater pleasure. While many
believe you can get better by using some
magic training aid the truth still remains
that it will require effort and commitment
in order to improve. The amount of time
and energy you put in will reflect how
good you become. However there are
some things you can follow in order to get
better faster and with the least amount
of effort possible. The key is to practice
smart and not necessarily hard. One of
the best tips to follow in order to lower
your golf handicap is to practice a lot on
the short game. It is important to spend
enough time hitting wedge shots and chips
and pitch shots around the green as these
kinds of shots can save you many strokes
during a round of golf. Hit a lot of shots
from inside 100 yards. Also hit a lot of
chips from all kinds of different lies. In
fact look for the worst lies possible when
practicing and hit from those. If you can
learn to play from bad lies then the game
will become a lot easier. Learning the
game backwards from the green to the tee
is how many professionals learned how to
play golf. Also remember that if you have
confidence in your short game it will also
help your long game since you will not be
afraid to mishit the occasional shot as you
know that you will be able to recover most
of the time.
