On June 10, 2014 the ACSI Mid-America Accreditation Commission held its
annual meeting and unanimously voted to approve the recommendation and
grant ACSI accreditation of Park Christian School for five years. They stated
that our ‘continual demonstration of commitment to having a school with a quality
program of education is commendable, and that the students of PCS will be
greatly rewarded because of these efforts’. Park Christian School will receive
dual accreditation from Association of Christian Schools International and
AdvancED through this process.
(Park Christian School was previously accredited in 2007 for seven years through
2014. Accreditation has since been changed to a 5 year granting.)
Mr. Michael Levang has been teaching Social Studies for 13 years prior to coming to PCS as the Vice
Principal. Mr. Levang received his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from UND. He
earned his Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary’s University, and an Educational
Administration degree from MSU, Mankato.
Tell me a little bit about your family: Stacy and I met at UND in Grand Forks and have been married
for 13 years and have three children. Titus is nine and loves sports, battling with swords and rocking
on the drums. Zoe is six and active in dance, gymnastics and loves playing with American Girl Dolls.
Finally, Boden, who is two, loves all things balls, wrestling with his Dad and giving his Mom big hugs.
If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would love to go to
climb Mt. Everest and Mt. Kilimanjaro.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I like doing active things like playing football in the
backyard, shooting hoops, rollerblading or bike riding, and lately I’ve gotten into Slacklining.
The best part about following Jesus is……knowing I have a loving and forgiving Savior who has a
plan for my life that is far better than I could ever imagine.
Equipping students to think biblically, live wisely and serve faithfully for over 30 years.

Alumni Feature
The last of four of our grandchildren
graduated from Park Christian
School this spring. We are grateful
that Christ is the center of the
education at Park Christian. We have
so many fond memories of being at our
kid’s home, watching our daughter and son-in-law listen to our
grandchildren’s Bible memory verses.
There are no words to express what our hearts feel at moments
like these. We praise God for Park Christian School and can
assure you that you will remain in our prayers.
Love in Christ, Bud and Joan Brekke (grandparents to Jordan,
Eden, Jacob, and Jared Olsgaard)

by Kent S. Hannestad
I am writing this article while attending the ACSI Leadership Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There are leaders
of Christian schools from all over the world here. The location is a resort nestled in the mountains with gorgeous golf
courses, mountains, and wildlife right outside my window. My family was unable to join me and no one else from
school is with me either. I’m alone. It’s quiet. Lights of homes and vacation dwellings are sprinkled on the mountain. It’s
absolutely beautiful…and quiet. I am deeply experiencing the truth of Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” It is
so good and refreshing.
In the stillness my mind is flooded with thoughts of thanksgiving. I’m able to take time to reflect on God’s immeasurable
goodness and His blessings in my life, my family, and Park Christian School. I am removed from anything that would
keep me from fixing my eyes on Jesus. Wow. It’s incredible.
So what about you? Have you intentionally taken time to be still? I don’t mean a pause in your day. I mean really still.
Away from everything. No TV. No phone. No people. No noise. Just you and God. You see, it’s pretty easy for me to
become consumed by the things in front of me. But when I am able to be still I am reminded of what is of utmost priority.
So, with school just around the corner, activities kicking into full swing, relocation efforts upon us, summer vacations to
wrap up, clothes and supplies to buy, I encourage you: Be still.
