Welcome to Total LED – JCC’s new brand of
LED lighting products.
In line with JCC’s ethos of providing you with products that are low
energy and quick and easy to order and install, we are delighted to
launch Total LED. On the following pages you will find a one-stop
guide to our comprehensive range of LED lighting products, including
information on the correct driver to use, total wattage and LED colour.
Our Total LED range encompasses every aspect of LED lighting
including floodlights, submersible lights, decorative wall lights,
commercial LEDs and high performance downlights. Total LED has
been developed for a wide range of suitable applications including
retail, residential, commercial and leisure. Many of the products come in
different colour temperatures and RGB colour changing options making
them adaptable for a broad variety of projects.
In addition, our new range of multi-linking colour changing LED products,
CombiLED, is launched in the first few pages of this brochure. As the name
suggests, the products in the CombiLED range can be used in combination
with each other to form a synchronised RGB lighting scheme that can include
everything from linear floodlighting and building washes, to MR16 downlights
and bi-directional wall lights.
Whether you require a compact fluorescent equivalent LED downlight for a
commercial office complex or a full RGB colour changing scheme for a restaurant

LED – Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is an LED?
A: LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. The most commonly used are high powered, solid state electronic chips encapsulated in an epoxy resin, often with a synthetic lens in front. LEDs differ greatly from the standard filament, halogen or fluorescent light sources needing neither gases nor very high temperatures to perform. The nature of LED construction means that they make a very compact light source compared to traditional
lighting and can be highly durable.
Q: What are the benefits of using LED over other light sources?
A: LED can offer up to 85% energy savings and can last many times longer than conventional
light sources (an average of 35,000 hours) so they cut down on energy costs and
maintenance costs as well as helping reduce CO2 emissions. LEDs don’t use harmful
substances such as mercury in their construction.
Q: Which driver do I need to select for my product?
A: In some cases the driver is included as part of a kit. For products that do not come with a
driver we have clearly marked on the page which driver to order and the number of individual
fittings that can be used per driver.
Q: What applications are LED suitable for?
A: LEDs can be used for all applications provided they are installed correctly. The lack of UV
means that LEDs are ideal for lighting artefacts and heat sensitive displays in museum or
retail applications as they will not degrade or fade the materials. LEDs produce very little
forward heat making them a popular choice for areas where animals or children may come
into contact with them.
Q: What is RGB?
A: RGB stands for the Red, Green and Blue coloured LEDs used to produce different colour mixes and means that coloured filters are no longer needed. In many cases RGB lighting will
cycle through these primary colours creating an array of different colours in between. The
more advanced products will allow scene setting and single colours to be selected and saved.
Q: Why would I use LED instead of Low Voltage?
A: LEDs use low current and low voltage, which means that you get less voltage drop over longer cable runs.
Q: Can LEDs be dimmed?
A: Yes, LEDs can be dimmed providing they are used with the correct driver.
Q: What is the difference between a series or parallel circuit?
A: Circuits with multiple LEDs fall into two general categories; parallel-wired circuits, and serieswired circuits. Components connected in parallel are joined together so the same voltage is
applied to each component; the voltage is the same through all components (LEDs), but the
current is divided through each. Components connected in series are joined along a single
path, so the same current flows through all of the components; the current is the same, but
the voltage is divided. It is important to remember that in a series circuit, the sum of all LED
voltages should not exceed 90% of the supply voltage to ensure stable LED light output.

Can I join different CombiLED products together?
Apart from the tri-colour options, all other CombiLED products will work together and
can be synchronised together.

How many CombiLED fittings can I use on each driver?
The number of fittings that can be used on each driver varies. The chart on page 15
shows the different driver loadings.

How many different colours are possible with CombiLED?
The RGB products can produce millions of different colour variations with each of the
three units – Red, Green and Blue – achieving between 0 and 255 colour settings in the
RGB spectrum.

Can I achieve a specific colour with CombiLED?
Yes, it is possible to match to a colour of your choice. The controller will display the
chosen colour on the screen.

Is it easy to connect the CombiLED products together?
CombiLED products are safely connected via RJ45 patch cables, ensuring that cable
colour coding is maintained. Where IP rated external connectors are required, an IP
rated junction box is required.

How do I control the CombiLED system?
All CombiLED products are addressed by the appropriate power controller (there are four
different types available dependant on location). These control modules have thermal
and overload protection. Products are easily controlled using standard pre-set functions
or can be manually set to any desired scheme or single colour.

When I switch off the power, is the setting retained?
Yes, all CombiLED products have full function memory whereby the last setting is
remembered after power-off.

What effects can be achieved with CombiLED?
There are a wide variety of different types of effects that CombiLED can offer including;
strobe, colour change, fade up from black, cycle through and special single colour
selection. Three user editable chases are also available and each chase can be set up to
42 scenes.

Yes, all the CombiLED controllers can be linked to a DMX system using the XLR inputs
and outputs.
