Annual Report - Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity
Annual Report
Fiscal Year 2013
ANNUAL REPORT FY13
2
Dear Friends,
Simple. Decent. Affordable.
These criteria are the dream for many deserving, very low-income families in El Paso County. When you donate or volunteer, you make their
dreams come true.
This Annual Report covers our fiscal year of July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 (FY13). Because of your partnership with Pikes Peak Habitat for
Humanity (PPHfH) we are accountable to you. We hope you will see the impact you have had with PPHfH in three areas.
Accomplishments
In FY13 we moved five families into their new Habitat home.
Future Builds
This has been a year of new beginnings. Pikes Peak Habitat began construction on 10 new homes and we expect those to be completed by
December 2014, bringing our total to 129 homes built since 1986. Breaking ground and starting six new homes in our Country Living
subdivision was a huge step for PPHfH and will lead to an additional 34 very low-income Habitat families in the city of Fountain.
Donors and Volunteers
These are the partnerships that allow our mission to be accomplished.
We look forward to serving our community with you in the coming years.
Thank you,
Paul M. Johnson

homes, communities and hope.

ANNUAL REPORT FY13
Accomplishments
When a homeowner takes possession of their home, we take a
certain pride in the fulfillment of our mission.
In fiscal year 2013, five families accepted keys to their new home,
bringing the total number of homes we have built since 1986 to 118.
Our quality of life has improved since moving into our Habitat home.

Other accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2013:

We began construction on 10 new homes this year.

Habitat participated in the Parade of Homes for
the second year in a row.

Thanks to the sponsorship of six homes by The
Home Depot Foundation, we broke ground in
our newest development called Country Living in
Fountain.
Doing the sweat equity was the best part of becoming a Habitat homeowner.

Volunteers
Pikes Peak Habitat:

Habitat welcomes community-minded, enthusiastic volunteers to assist us in carrying out our mission to build simple, decent and
affordable housing with our low-income partner families and the community.

Volunteers working together contribute an average of 2,000 hours to build and complete 90% of each Habitat home.

PPHFH was blessed with 4,964 volunteers who contributed 26,800 hours constructing Habitat homes and working on committees in
FY13. The contributions from volunteers saved PPHFH nearly $208,504 in wages (based on minimum wage of $7.78 effective in
2013).
ReStore:

In 2003, the Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity ReStore, LLC. was established as a self-sustaining fundraising entity to benefit Pikes
Peak Habitat for Humanity. In FY13, the ReStore contributed $450,000 to Pikes Peak Habitat – enough to build nearly four Habitat
homes!

The vision of the ReStore is to convert charitable donations of building materials into cash for use by Pikes Peak Habitat for
Humanity to construct simple, decent, affordable homes. We set a high standard for stewardship of God’s resources, in El Paso
County, by helping to divert and recycle thousands of tons of usable material from being deposited into local landfills. The ReStore
provides a retail outlet for low-cost building materials and home improvement products in Colorado Springs. El Paso County
residents benefit from access to these discounted building materials.

The ReStore provides enhanced opportunities for volunteers to get involved by helping families in need in our community. Over
7,100 volunteers donated 29,314 hours at the ReStore. At the Colorado Springs minimum wage of $7.78, we saved over $18,800 per
month, or $226,350 per year.

Partners for Sustainability
Partners for Sustainability are donors who have identified their commitment to Pikes Peak Habitat by giving regularly over
time. Their donations enable PPHfH to plan effectively each year because we can depend on their gifts.

Donors
Without our donors, we would not be able to build one home. Because of this year’s donors, PPHfH completed five and started
eleven more affordable homes.
We are thankful for your financial partnership.
