First Baptist Church Good News Volume 1 Issue 6 JULY & AUGUST 2015 Dear Church family, Some people plan on trouble. They expect the worst. I don’t think that is good advice for the child of God. However, you can have a plan in place for trouble. Psalm 77:1-2a says: “I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me. In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord" Psalms 77 is an interesting psalm. The author is dealing with deep pain and trouble in life. He speaks of how low and discouraged he feels. Yet, he remembers how faithful God is. I think most of us can relate to feeling a bit overwhelmed and discouraged from time to time. May I humbly suggest a few things as you face trouble? #1 Pray out loud. Let the Lord know how you feel. He already knows, but pray to Him anyway. Pray out loud. Confess to him how you are hurting and ask for His help. He hears your prayer. He will meet you in your difficulty. Our hearts change when we have an encounter with Him. #2 Remember God saves. Recall times when He delivered you through trials and trouble. Remember His word. Recall the stories of old. God is mighty to save. God always hears and brings help at just the right time. #3 Pray with others. Let someone else know what is going on in your life. We all need partners in prayer. Ask them to pray for you. Offer and commit to pray for them. Maybe they are enduring even greater hardship that you. You can both come together in the name of the Lord. #4 Go back to the WORD. When trouble hits we often don’t "feel" like reading our Bible. You need to get in your Bible regardless of how you "feel." Get back in the Word. Read Psalm 27 or Psalm 91… #5 Look for someone to serve. Yes, it sounds odd to think of others when you are in a serious trial. Remember serving others shows faith. It is a statement to God and the world that you will not let Satan win. Find someone: buy their lunch, send them a card, let them know God loves them, make some cookies, or just take time to listen to them…You will defeat the plan of the enemy by being faithful. Friend, I'm praying for you. God is faithful. There is nothing He cannot handle. Until He comes, Dace Clifton Pastor, FBC Hico Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
