Anchorage has 10,946 acres of
municipal parkland, 223 parks,
and over 250 miles of trails and
greenbelts linking neighborhoods
with natural spaces.
The Anchorage Park Foundation
partners with the Parks &
Recreation Department to
promote Healthy Parks and
Healthy People in the Anchorage
community. Together, we
revitalize the safety, function,
and appearance of Anchorage
parks and the neighborhoods that
surround them.
Lloyd Steele and Balto Seppala are important neighborhood parks for the Turnagain
neighborhood. The neighborhood determined the need to add more trails and trail
connections to increase the opportunity for walking, running, and biking loops
between and in the two parks.
Funds will also be used to repair the playground and safety surfacing, and fix park
amenities.
In the summer of 2015, the Anchorage Park Foundation and Parks & Recreation
Department plan to install and improve trail connections between Lloyd Steele and
Balto Seppala Parks. We invite the Alaska State Legislature to join us in investing in
the future of both Lloyd Steele and Balto Seppala Parks.
