What is EU-GUGLE?
EU-GUGLE stands for “European cities serving as Green Urban Gate
towards Leadership in sustainable Energy” and is funded under the 7th
Framework Programme for Research and Technological Innovation. It is
coordinated by CENER, Spain’s National Centre for Renewable Energies.
The EU-GUGLE project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of nearly-zero
energy building renovation models in view of triggering large-scale, Europewide replication in smart cities and communities by 2020. (www.eu-gugle.eu)
EU-GUGLE (2013-2019) is 30 MEUR project demonstrating energy efficient
renovation of residential buildings with 6 pilot cities from Europe. Tampere
is involved with 8 pilot limited liability housing companies (built in 60’s,
70’s and 80’s) situated in Tammela residential area. Other pilot cities are
Aachen, Wien, Bratislava, Milan and Sestao and Gothenburg, Gazientep and
Plovdiv as follower cities.
