We`ve Spent Nearly 30 Years Perfecting
We've spent nearly 30 years perfecting
packaged homes for you
Since 1982 HpM’s Home Design consultants have helped literally thousands of Hawai‘i homeowners through the
maze of decisions that stood between their dreams and the reality of a new home. We can do it for you, too.
Our pre-designed homes come in an array of sizes and layouts to fit almost any family. No matter how large your
family or what your lifestyle, we have a design for you. You’ll find information about each of our models in this
booklet, as well as important information about how we can help you through the design and construction process.
please read it carefully. Then, when you’re ready, contact one of our Home Design consultants for an appointment.
We look foward to serving you.
HPM Building Supply, or "Hawaii
planing Mill" as we were first known,
started nearly 90 years ago as a small,
family-owned Hilo lumber mill. Now
we are 100-percent employee-owned
and have grown to include three fullservice building supply centers and four
lumberyards on the Big Island, plus a
building supply center on O‘ahu. We
also manufacture pre-engineered trusses,
wall panels, metal roofing and pre-hung
doors, and we treat our own lumber.
HpM is uniquely positioned to be your
single, convenient and competitivelypriced source for nearly everything you
need to build your home.
Why a pre-designed home from HPM?
Standard home package designs are much more affordable and less complicated to build, yet they can be
customized to suit a homeowner’s individual tastes and needs. And you can have confidence in HPM’s designs. The
available plans are proven, with literally thousands built in Hawaii over the past 30 years. And each features highquality materials such as 5-ply exterior siding, dual-glazed vinyl windows, all-wood cabinetry and quality plumbing
fixtures - all at package prices that save thousands off the cost of purchasing similar features piecemeal.
Experienced team of
Home Design Consultants...
The process of designing and building a new home is rarely
simple. That’s why we have an experienced team of Home
Design Consultants to help you think through the
process of building your home. Each is skilled
at helping you decide on the best home and
features for your family and budget. You
want your home to come out right, and
so do we.
Home planning at HPM means
we help you through the entire
homebuilding process.
Convenient drafting services at
reasonable rates are available directly
from HPM for minor plan modifications.
We’ll help you select a standard package
or assist you in working with a draftsperson
to customize your plan. We also assist with
coordinating plot plan drawings (to show how the
house is positioned on the lot) and design of your septic or
cesspool system.
With you each step...
Once all plans are complete, we can help you obtain the
necessary building permits. And before construction begins,
an HPM Project Specialist is assigned to your project to
insure construction materials are provided on schedule.
At HPM we want you to have an enjoyable and satisfying
homebuilding experience. But even more than that, we want
to see your family in a home you will cherish and enjoy for
years to come.
Look what’s included in
an HPM Home!

HPM’s home designs are package offerings meant to appeal to a broad range of customer tastes and needs. While
modifications to our basic plans are encouraged to suit individual tastes, additional or upgraded building material selections often increase the base cost of a package. Depending on the scope of the modifications, additional drafting
fees may be incurred and new material lists required. Additional fees for these services and for the modifications themselves are the responsibility of the customer. However, customers will find HPM’s prices, even with additions,
to be very competitive.

Ikaika (“strong”) I-Joist Make a Stronger House
If you’re building post & pier or a two story home, ask your HPM Home Design Consultant about Ikaika
Engineered Wood Products. The Ikaika I-Joist are made exclusively for HPM by the nation’s leading manufacturer
of Engineered Wood. Ikaika I-Joist span further (so you don’t have to use as many piers), are lighter (so they’re
easier to work with), and are stronger and more durable than traditional timbers (so your floors won’t squeak).

Metal Roofing Isn’t Your Tutu’s Corrugated Roof Anymore
Ever wonder why you see so much metal roofing on homes in Hawaii? It’s because metal roofing has traditionally been, and continues to be the most
resilient and cost effective material for our environment.
PUA MELIA
But metal roofing is no longer just your traditional corrugated metal. It’s available in over 12 different “profiles” (ridge patterns), in 12 standard colors,
and can be made from a variety of different metals. The Durapon 70® paint system, which is now used on all HPM metal roofing, comes with a 35-year
coating warranty and its formula includes Teflon™ which makes an even more durable roof.
HPM’s Custom Metal Roofing is also EnergyStar rated and can qualify for LEEDs points and tax incentives.
Ask your HPM Home Design Consultant for information about HPM’s Custom Metal Roofing options.
