In the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries,
the best customer is an educated customer. Providing
appealing targeted content beyond the product label is
a desirable goal to ensure customers are well informed.
This mobile solution gives customers easy access to
culinary learning content with a focus on FMCG products’
nutritional and health aspects. Customers can access
an app to find the benefits of the FMCG products, such
as nutritional facts, scientific evidences, and health
information. The app provides a library of product
recipes, cooking methods, and articles on health benefits
and kids and nutrition. In addition, the app allows users to
share knowledge using social network tools.

For learning professionals and teams, starting their
journey into mobile learning can be challenging. The
Mobile Learning QuickStart provides a comprehensive
quick reference guide that can be opened, shared, and
used when starting mobile projects. It provides a “how-to”
get started in mobile learning, free tools, resources, and
the path to move from a concept to a responsive web
solution or native mobile app. As a visual resource it
helps learning professionals quickly navigate and start to
translate their ideas to reality.

Caixa Crescer was created to support and promote microentrepreneurs in Brazil. The project had two components.
The first is a mentor’s training (responsible for overseeing
business development), through a mobile learning
program where they received tablets for accessing the
training, and the second being eLearning for the small
business to develop and encourage required skills for
business administration.

All the Goodwill Industries organizations are autonomous
and have different processes for their onboarding and
trainings, causing inconsistency and inefficiency. In
an effort to streamline and simplify this process, we
determined that a mobile training platform was the best
fit. We combined a text messaging platform and mobile
website platform provided by Train by Cell. To date, this
project has increased our team members’ retention and
added a new level of excitement for training.

At Qualcomm, employees file numerous patents every
week. As a result, keeping informed about the inventions
that we are creating can prove challenging. The Patent
Wall Experience helps our employees meet this education
need by providing an easy way to look up the patent
information. In addition, it encourages communication and
collaboration by displaying an up-close experience of the
patent information through augmented reality.

Needing to deliver mobile content to users,
JPMorganChase’s legacy LMS was deemed not to be
a viable technology. Buying a new mobile LMS was
prohibitive—up to $1 million. L&D set the pace and built a
cost-effective app that would have SCORM tracking for all
of its B.Y.O.D. 40,000 users for compliance, tech and ops
content, and on-the-go learning.

Case-based learning has become a focal point in the
teaching of undergraduate genetics. The current clinical
cases, while effective, are one-dimensional and groupbased. Could an eLearning module be the next step in
case evolution? The goal was to further enhance student
learning and engagement compared to the linear clinical
cases currently employed. This eLearning module on
chronic myeloid leukemia was developed to increase
independence and allow for self-paced learning. This
format also allows for branched scenarios, thus mimicking
real-world clinical decisions.

Thousands of medical graduate students in India appear
for examinations aspiring to join the postgraduate course,
and they need access to structured content designed by
medical specialists. The MyPGMEE is a mobile app for
formative assessments. Practice tests are organized by
subject and body organ and can be given in structures,
including the exam pattern. Analytics include identifying
areas of strength and weakness.

Mobile Adventures
Australia
Mobile learning can play a significant role in tourism and
education. Location-based mobile adventure solutions
are helping in the rediscovery of the considerable
contributions made by a famous Australian science
and technology pioneer by extending the educational
curriculum to meet the needs of a mobile audience. The
location-based mobile adventure serves to support schoolaged children who creatively combined online inquiries
about threatened and endangered animals with a mobile
storytelling platform, rich media, and the authentic
surrounding of a zoo to develop and play a mobile
learning game.

Media
Access to both informal materials and formal courses
can provide students a rich experience. LearnToProgram
created the Media Center as a way to distribute informal
learning content to students across the mobile device
spectrum. The informal learning content is distributed
across a variety of networks like Youtube, Roku, Amazon
Fire TV, and Apple TV. This app platform gives students
a consistent experience regardless of the mobile devices
they are using. The app provides a mobile “community
center” that students can access anytime, anywhere with
their mobile devices.

Samsung sought to improve training and product
knowledge for their Galaxy S6 product by transitioning
away from costly and inconvenient facilitator-led training
sessions for carriers through the introduction of their
new Samsung Plus Learning Portal. The holistic platform
provides just-in-time training, access to on-demand
materials, live webinars, and updated product information
to 8,000+ carrier and retail store sales professionals
across 22 different channels.

To meet an inverted set of client goals with a focus
on ramping up a new program, we leveraged games
focused on a mobile sales audience with an eye towards
engagement first and learning after. With an engagementcraving audience as the focus, and to draw participants to
a new program at launch, we used a number of games as
content delivery mechanisms, pre-learning activities, and
reinforcement.

The language of comic books and graphic novels
is highly efficient and succinctly conveys messages,
ideas, thoughts, and concepts—all within a constrained
visual milieu. MoCom, Mo’ Learning provides a richly
visualized storytelling experience by leveraging the
effective communication of comics and graphic novels.
MoCom, Mo’ Learning builds on existing comic book
apps (comiXology and others) to provide an easy-to-use,

can be readily viewed on most any device, thanks to

This project focuses on streamlining the doctor office
check-in process with an Apple Watch app. This app is
part of a larger automated patient intake mobile system
(using Apple’s iBeacon technology) and the alerting
administrator system. The goal is to greatly speed up
paperwork and administrative functions, resulting in
happier patients (shorter wait times and lower costs). This
improves the patient experience and reduces interruptions
for the medical care team.

The goal was to eliminate the need to conduct extensive
hands-on and/or face-to-face learning while creating
a community of self-service learners for the ongoing
enablement of Salesforce for a globally distributed sales
organization. This custom solution met the requirements
of having a moment-of-need, embedded, context-sensitive
knowledge support system for a global sales organization
leveraging Salesforce.

A large Dutch shoe retail chain urgently needed increased
sales to compete in the difficult retail market. Employees
trained with eLearning combined with classroom training

Learning in one’s work can be more efficient and effective
than learning outside of it. St. Vincent Hospital looked to
maximize the opportunity for employee workflow learning
to meet the requirements of their jobs on the job. One
Learning Place (OLP) was built to provide a location where
all associates can easily find the answers to their jobrelated questions. Different from our intranet, OLP provides
people with direct, concise steps they need to do a job
and provides the opportunity to get additional information
if needed.

A key challenge in developing teaching skills is finding
the right balance between theory and practice. When
teachers learn theory separate from practice they
often have difficulty applying knowledge gained in
preparation programs to their classrooms. National Louis
University developed teachers by managing and tracking
experiential learning and mentoring in the classroom
using a mobile web application powered by xAPI. Those
student teachers who used a practice-based curriculum
using mobile technology performed better on measures
of teacher effectiveness than those who used a traditional
approach.

Every growing company faces the challenge of how to
provide a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience
for new employees. At Panopto, new employees get
access to four different kinds of videos: Overviews of
various organizations within Panopto, a video tour of
their office, internal IT videos (connecting to the local
printer, etc.), and recordings that provide product training.
The employee can watch the videos, then hit the ground
running on day one. Additionally, all new employees
record their own introductory video that we then share
across the company. It helps existing employees connect
with new hires, and helps new hires get to know their
peers. Example introductory video:
