Ferrero in Slovenia as well
Atlantic Grupa will take over the exclusive distribution of Ferrero, one of the most significant producers
of chocolate sweets, starting from August 2009.
Annual sales of Ferrero assortment in Slovenia
amounts to 16 million Euros, and represents a significant enhancement of Atlantic’s business and
position in this market. Partnership in the distribution of well known brands such as Nutella, Kinder,
Ferrero Rocher, Rafaello and Mon Cheri in Slovenia
is an extension of an exceptionally successful several years long cooperation in the distribution of
Ferrero asortment in the market of Croatia, as well
as another confirmation of the quality of distribution conducted by Atlantic Grupa.
Atlantic has been present on the Slovenian market
with its own company since 2001, so far establishing itself as one of the most propulsive distributors. Along with the distribution of Atlantic’s own
brands such as Cedevita, Plidenta and Melem, and
soon Ferrero, the company has a successful cooperation with another globally eminent producer, the
German Hipp.
„The successful cooperation of Atlantic Grupa and
Ferrero dates back from 2001, when the company
started the distribution of Ferrero assortment in
Croatia, and the new distribution deal in Slovenia
comes as a result of this cooperation as well as our
close monitoring of Atlantic’s distribution methods
and strategy in the
Slovenian Market“,
explained Cesare Ruello, Ferrero’s Commercial Director.
„The takeover of
Ferrero’s Slovenian
distribution pleases
us as yet another
confirmation of the
uniformed quality of
Atlantic’s distribution
in all the markets where we have business,
as well as a confirmation of trust in our
company as a reliable partner. With this new significant principal we have additionally strenghtened
our position as an important distributor in Slovenia
as well as the leading distributor of fast moving
consumer goods in the region“, commented Bogdan
Slovnik, Director of Atlantic Trade Ljubljana.
Cooperation with Nestle in the HoReCa channel
Atlantic Grupa and Nestlé Adriatic signed a contract
on direct sales and distribution of Nestlé’s product
portfolio in the HoReCa channel in the Croatian market. Cooperation of these two companies in direct
sales and distribution of the assortment of caffeine
and chocolate drinks intended for consummation
in the catering industry started in the beginning of
2009. With this new direct sales and distribution
contract, Atlantic additionally strengthened its distribution business activities in the HoReCa channel,
where it is already one of the largest suppliers pre-
sent with Cedevita instant vitamin drinks, Cedevita
teas, Rauch drinks and TDR’s product assortment
and it also strengthens its position as the leading
regional distributor of consumption goods. With
a clear development focus, Atlantic Grupa invests
in the HoReCa channel in which it already realizes
significant growth rates through organic sales
growth as well as taking over the distribution of new
brands in its portfolio. Cooperation with the company Nestlé additionally enhanced the offer of the
Atlantic’s HoReCa assortment since it now includes
relevant NESCAFÉ products (Nescafe Cappuccinos,
NESQUIK drinks, and a novelty on the market Aero
Bubbly Chocolate Drink). Nestlé Professional, which is the name of the division of the Nestlé Company that manages sales channels and out-of-home
consumption, is one of the four strategic pillars of
this company’s future growth. Through the HoReCa
channel, Nestlé Professional offers its consumers
their favorite brands outside their homes as well, by
allowing them access to Nestlé products at any time
and any place.
Taking over Karolina’s distribution
Marina Duvnjak,
brand manager
for Karolina
In the beginning of February, Atlantic Grupa took over
the distribution of the products of Karolina d.o.o., a
well-known Croatian manufacturer of biscuits and
salty snacks, together with 37 employees working in
the Karolina’s distribution and the whole infrastructure. Osijek’s Karolina d.o.o. is a part of
the company Lorenz Bahlsen Snack
World, the leading European manufacturer of salty snacks (sticks,
pretzels, chips, extruders and
nuts) with which Atlantic Grupa has
a long-standing successful cooperation. With
this 100 million kuna worth annual Contract on the
takeover of the Karolina’s distribution the extraordinary business relations with Lorenz are additionally
confirmed.By adding Karolina’s well-known brands
Jadro, Bobi and Moto in the distribution portfolio for
the territory of Croatia, Atlantic Grupa confirmed itself as the leading regional distributor.
By taking over the Karolina’s distribution and its
employees, Atlantic Grupa tries to achieve an optimal synergy between the already existing Karolina’s
distribution network and the Atlantic’s experienced
sales team.
Atlantic Grupa’s
profit up 44 percent
Atlantic Grupa concluded the year 2008 with outstanding business results, increasing net profit in relation
to the previous year by 44 percent to the amount of HRK
78.4 million. The company realised the total revenue of

the same period of the previous year. Operating profit

percent, while the operating profit before amortization
increased by 28 percent in relation to the previous year
and amounts to HRK 169.3 million. In line with the Management Board’s announced plans, the company achieved growth in all key financial performance indicators.

private pharmacy chain, expanded our distribution operations in Croatia and the region, launched a new line
of sports food and, finally, our own largest production
investment - Cedevita GO!“, explained Emil Tedeschi,
President of the Management Board of Atlantic Grupa.
“In a global economic crisis, we are confident in our
own capability to face more difficult business conditions. As a company operating on strong foundations, we
are confident that, with the focus on cost management,
interdivisional synergies and new projects, we will realize growth and improve profitability in this year as
well” added Mr. Tedeschi.
Last year in Atlantic Grupa was marked by a series of
acquisitions of health institutions thus forming the
leading private pharmacy chain in Croatia under the
brand Farmacia and the establishment of a new - fourth business division Pharma which also incorporates
the production of food supplements under the brand
Dietpharm. The business activities of the Distribution
Division has been expanded with new contracts in the
HoReCa channel (TDR, Nestle, Rauch), by acquiring the
company ZIP Distribution with brands Corny, Emco and
Schwartau and by taking over the distribution of the
company Karolina along with its sales force. The Sports
and Functional Food Division launched a new product
line Multipower Active , and the Consumer Health Care
Division finalised the preparations for launching an
innovative product Cedevita GO! which offers the option
of preparing and drinking a fresh vitamin drink on the
go, and which is available throughout the region from
February.

Wholesale drugstore
opened
In the Pharma Division, after a year-long planning
and preparations, the beginning of March was marked by a festive opening of the wholesale drugstore business activities in Fidifarm. The wholesale
drugstore activity in the Pharma Division, which
will be managed by Fidifarm’s Board Member for
Sales Tamara Tuπek, was initiated for the purpose
of providing quality services to all pharmacies on
the market. The Fidifarm’s wholesale drugstore
currently realises sales and deliveries in 556 out
of the total of 1,005 pharmacies in Croatia. Apart
from the Dietpharm’s product assortment, Fidifarm’s
over-the-counter medicines and the products from
the Atlantic’s distribution portfolio, the drugstore
also offers medical cosmetics Ahava and Marie Galant. In addition to the listed products, the product
range will soon include the OTC offer of Hemofarm
and Scholl with nearly 400 new products and it is
planned to expand the range of products to as much
as 1,000 products by the end of the year. The sales
are organised through the Phone Sales Department
and in its first day of business 178 phone calls were
realised with the total of 66 sales in the amount of
nearly 100,000 kuna. Further development and
growth of the Fidifarm’s wholesale drugstore business will be based on expanding the assortment of
offered products with quality OTC brands and other
products whose distribution is organised through the
pharmacy channel, in which Atlantic has significant
experience, knowledge and ambition - explained Tamara Tuπek and Marko Smetiπko, Vice President for
Pharma Division.
The Atlantic Grupa’s Cosmetics Research and Development Department was placed before the task of
formulating new lip balms for the German market,
which will by their composition be equal competition
to strong European brands.
Under the leadership of Mirela MartiniÊ, Bellecare
brand’s lip balms were carefully conceptualised
with natural and high-quality ingredients that are
harmless and have low allergenic potential.
At the same time, formulations also meet the requirements of the German eco-test criteria that surpass even the already strict requirements of EU directives for cosmetic products. Bellecare lip balms are
intended for users with extremely sensitive and dry
lips by providing intensive care and protection.
The line of Bellecare lip balms consists of four products manufactured with natural oils and extracts,
vitamin E and naturally irresistible flavours. These
are: Classic -vanilla flavoured, Sensitive - odourless, Pearl & Shine - with a glossy effect and Milk &
Honey - with added honey and milk protein extracts.

Atlantic Grupa presented Cedevita GO! at the fair
GULFOOD 2009, the most important event for the
industries in the region, where it presented Cedevita
GO!. “Gulf Food, Hotel and Equipment Exhibition and
Salon Culinaire” is the original title of this fair which
is organised since 1987 and in which manufacturers, distributors and suppliers from all around the
world have an opportunity to directly conduct business with important subjects within the catering and
food industry.

Atlantic Grupa’s brands
At the International Exhibition of Foodstuffs and
Food Raw Materials PRODEXPO 2009 in Moscow,
Atlantic Grupa, headed by Milan Cvrkota, Marketing
Director of Multivita, presented its production programme.
The exhibition with over 2,000 exhibitors had
more than 45,000 visitors. The visiting rate of the
Atlantic’s stand was excellent and most interest was
raised by the assortment of Cedevita products, especially the new Cedevita GO!. Our representatives
at the exhibition had numerous contacts with the
distributors with which Atlantic Grupa in the forthcoming period intends to jointly explore the possibilities of entering the Russian market.
Until now, Atlantic Grupa was present in Russia with
its Multivita products, whose sales value in 2008
was EUR 1.7 million while for 2009 a significant sales growth is planned. Additionally, negotiations are
in progress concerning the market placement of Rosal Lip Balm products
which would be sold through pharmacy chains.
More than 3 thousand exhibitors from 80 countries
presented its products and Cedevita GO! caused a
strong interest in Dubai. During the fair, the Atlantic’s
team, headed by Branko Fureš, talked with potential
buyers from more than 30 countries and these new
contacts resulted in plans for potential placement on
the large market of the United Arab Emirates. During
meetings at the fair the trend of transitioning the
product from a “family” to a “to go” concept was
emphasized which is by itself a kind of recognition
for Cedevita GO! and the advantages it offers to consumers outside their home.
At the beginning of January a new Atlantic’s web
was inaugurated as the result of a six month effort
of the Corporate Communications Department with
the goal to make the new internet page of Atlantic
Grupa even more informative and interesting than
the previous one.
This new internet page at the old address, www.
atlantic.hr, contains abundant information divided into 5 categories to facilitate user orientation:
about us, careers, media, investors and products.
The team, who worked on the new webpage project,
headed by Fea Hudina, was guided by the idea to
create a webpage which would have advanced design, animations offering company information in a
new and different way and transparent and easily
accessible information on Atlantic Grupa.

New Atlantic's web
In the beginning of this year CHAMP launched its
own webpage at www.champ-sportsline.de,
which enables direct communication with consumers who are involved in recreational or professional sports. On its webpage Champ offers an overview of all products with their benefits and nutrition
information. On this webpage consumers may also
receive useful advice on essential product ingredients as well as recommendations on achieving individual training goals.
TOPIC OF THE ISSUE
TOPIC OF THE ISSUE
Cedevita GO! - The largest production investment
By starting distribution on the market, Atlantic Grupa launched the largest ever investment
project in the own product segment - Cedevita
GO! It concerns a development project worth
75 million kuna on which Atlantic’s employees
worked for more than six years and in the course of which an innovative product solution
was developed and patented. In the segment of
vitamin drinks, Cedevita GO! introduces a revolutionary option of drinking a freshly prepared
Cedevita on the move while the patent itself is
suitable for application in a number of areas of
the wider food industry. The most significant
innovation introduced by the project Cedevita
GO! can be found in technical characteristics of
the patented cap which was never before ma-
nufactured in the food sector. The cap contains
Cedevita granules separating/merging them
with a bottle of water into which the granules are released by simple twisting of the cap.
By realising the project Cedevita GO! Atlantic
launched on the market a new category of almost-ready-to-drink (ARTD) products as well
as introduced the option of consuming a fresh
vitamin drink with nine necessary vitamins
in any situation. The important convenience of the product itself lies in the fact that by
mixing Cedevita granules with water directly
before consumption preserves the stability of
vitamins which is necessarily lost in liquid over
time. The new product introduces Cedevita, as
the leading instant vitamin drink in the regi-

consumption on the move. After Cedevita’s
popularity in households for over 40 years and
a great success of the project concerning Cedevita in 15-gram packaging for the catering industry channel, the project Cedevita GO! makes
this favourite brand available to any consumer,

CEDEVITA GO!
DIARY
authors: Nevenka VraË and Ivan PaveliÊ
Since its establishment in 1969 and first production a year later to this very day Cedevita has been a
leader in the category of instant vitamin drinks.
It formulation is continuously improved, new scientific knowledge and experts’ recommendations
are incorporated, new technologies are applied,
assortment is expanded and care is taken to ensure product quality, recognisability and modernity.
While consumer demands are most important, the
Management’s demands on research and development employees are most strenuous. The idea of
“CEDEVITA in sachets” was just realised when a
new demand came from the President of the Management Board: “come up with a packaging that will
be 2 for 1 meaning CEDEVITA granules packaged
together with water and simply mixed when the
customer wishes so”. How to reconcile the irreconcilable, how to solve the unsolvable? How to
put CEDEVITA, which is moisture-sensitive, together with water? After short consultations, very
serious work commenced. Information were gathered, partners sought out and numerous obstac-
les crossed upon. We quickly figured out that the
Project is more than demanding and that it can only
be solved in cooperation with an experienced and
reliable packaging manufacturer inclined to look
for new solutions. This resulted in finding a Dutch
company Teamplast with a 40-year long tradition.
The Project CEDEVITA GO went through all phases:
defining the idea, forming a team, elaborating the
idea, realising it, testing potential solutions, selecting and improving the solution, patenting, designing the product line and equipment for producing
commercial solutions, purchasing the equipment,
breaking-in the production and, finally, regular
production. The Project was characterised by periods of large and small steps. Sometimes within
a few days a lot was accomplished and then again
sometimes we were back at the beginning. Frequ-
ently it was the small things that took months to
find a solution, such as: variation in the thickness of plastic of less than a tenth of a millimetre,
microgram-sized water leakage, lumping of granules, invisible misalignments that obstructed
the cap activation and functionality. Both the
cap and granules were worked on in parallel, formulation modified, process improved, numerous
measurements taken, results analysed, tests
repeated in order to achieve the desired product
stability. Every detail was scrutinised. And so, after five years of relentless work and enthusiasm
of a small team of Atlanticers, the project is in the
last stage of realisation and soon to be launched
on the market. What were the project challenges?
The concept of the cap itself had to reconcile two
irreconcilable things: Cedevita granules, extreme-
contest with valuable awards. The work started on
Saturday morning, firstly with an entertaining-educational programme performed by the strong marketing forces of the Consumer Health Care Division
headed by Executive Director Koraljka Koncul and
famous TV stars - Mario PetrekoviÊ and Renata Sopek. This was followed by presentation workshops
introducing distribution staff with the new product
and the planned distribution and promotion strategy
for Cedevita GO!
Participants learned even more about the new product through an interesting team building and the
memory of this meeting was ensured in a grandiose
style by a well-known photographer Šime Strikoman
who joined all participants in a millennium photograph at the Opatija’s pier in a formation of the trademark GO!. (Picture is on the coverage)
ly moisture-sensitive, and water, which is until the
time of consummation the greatest enemy of those same Cedevita granules. They could have been
separated only by foil, preferably the thicker the
better. How can it be so thick if opening it must be
as easy as possible? Ok, then as thin as possible.
How can it be so thin when a thin foil cannot be
applied onto a cap, it has a small layer for welding
and it leaks moisture? Furthermore, the foil must
be resistant to the effects of high and low temperatures since the bottle’s final destination is the
fridge. And when, step by step, all of this was solved, we needed to find a machine that can make
both light and hard aluminium foil, set it up on a
container, weld it so it is impermeable and do all
this in 400 milliseconds. This requirement was put
in front of Fords, a global leader in manufacturing
so called “milk cap” products. The first try, using
until then globally proven solutions, was a failure.
This was also the reason for postponing the market launch of Cedevita GO. We didn’t want to put
on the market a product that wasn’t 100% correct.
Regardless of daily contacts with Fords, there
was always an underlying danger that it wouldn’t
work. Fords did not buckle under the challenge and
a new technical solution, the world’s first, was successfully implemented on our cap. In this entire
CEDEVITA GO story, the most important question,
without any doubt, is; What are the main advantages of CEDEVITA GO? Vitamins are highly sensitive components with their stability affect by:
temperature, moisture, light, oxygen, medium in
which they are contained, presence of other components, time in which they are exposed to any of
those factors and the type of packaging they’re in.
However, vitamins are much more stable in powder
dry products than in liquid ones. Powder products
for a longer validity period preserve their organoleptic properties, unchanged structure and microbiological quality. Therefore, the hardest part of
the project was to preserve CEDEVITA granules
from the effects of water and at the same time
have water inside the same packaging.

the basics of the company’s business
activities and also to facilitate and
evoke the sense of belonging to a
common project with common goals.
The first seminar of this new education programme was held on 30
March at the headquarters of Atlantic
Grupa in Zagreb’s Miramarska Street.
The morning lecture started with a
presentation of the company held by
