PRESS RELEASE ▪ Paris, France. 12th April 2016
CNIM Group announces the creation of Bertin IT, its subsidiary
dedicated to Cyber Security and Digital Intelligence
CNIM Group, listed on Euronext Paris, announces the creation of a subsidiary specialized in cyber security and
digital intelligence, with the ambition ok making it become a European leader. Bertin IT brings together the
activities of Bertin Technologies in the fields of information system security and digital content processing,
along with those of its current subsidiaries Vecsys, expert in automatic speech processing and AMI Software, a
well-known publisher of strategic intelligence software. With this new entity, CNIM is consolidating its offering
to customers in the private and public sectors and also intends to break into new markets both in France and
abroad.
Positioning itself as a publisher and integrator of software solutions, Bertin IT provides a range of products & services
covering defense-in-depth of sensitive information systems and critical infrastructures and advanced processing of
data whatever its shape or form – text, image, audio, video – for digital intelligence applications such as open-source
intelligence (OSINT), strategic intelligence, media-monitoring and speech analytics.
"Information technologies have today become totally part and parcel of our interconnected digital world. They are not
only innovation and growth drivers but also represent a key stake in terms of security. Addressing state and corporate
security issues is one of the key strategic aims of our Group," explains Philippe Demigné, member of CNIM's
Supervisory Board and Chairman of Bertin IT. "With this specialist entity we are making the best possible use of our
high-level IT expertise and providing our customers with a French offering of state-of-the-art services and software,
capable of competing with major players."
The creation[1] of an IT pure player within CNIM Group is the logical conclusion of a process triggered several years ago
with the purchase in 2011 of Vecsys, renowned specialist in automatic speech processing. This process continued in
May 2015 with the acquisition of AMI Software, leading publisher of software for the collection, management and
processing of web-based text content. These two external growth opportunities have made it possible to add to
Bertin's recognized know-how in the field of information security and multilingual multimedia open source analysis
with high-level competencies for data extraction, processing and exploitation. Taking advantage of the numerous
synergies between its Security, Intelligence and Speech components, Bertin IT presents a totally new value proposal,
combining key strengths in terms of defense-in-depth and digital intelligence.
"The time had come for us to make a clear statement in an extremely competitive and ever-evolving market" points
out Béatrice Bacconnet, Chief Executive Officer of Bertin IT. "Formerly a Division of Bertin Technologies, we now
constitute a legal entity of our own, with an ambition to accelerate our growth, in particular on the Cyber Security and
Big Data markets. There are many challenges in our specialist fields and we will have to remain alert and be proactive
in seizing every opportunity to enrich our technological offering to develop in France and abroad.”
In order to further its growth and international development aims, Bertin IT has already recruited a number of new
members of staff in recent months. The subsidiary currently represents a turnover of some €15m and is aiming for
growth of 20% for the 2016 financial year, generated largely by sales of cybersecurity and digital intelligence
products in the Defense & Security and Industry sectors.
Based in Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Paris area), Bertin IT already boasts a workforce of 130 in France, Morocco and the
United Kingdom and, in the short term, with the Group's support, is looking at establishing other international
operations.
[1] The operation is in the form of a partial contribution of assets (Apport Partiel d’Actif or APA) from Bertin Technologies' "Information
Technology" division to Bertin IT, the new limited joint-stock company (Société par Actions Simplifiée, or SAS) created in April 2015 with
a view to enabling a 100% buy-out of Go Albert France (AMI Software). Launched on 1st March 2016 by a lease-management agreement,
the APA will become effective as of 30 June 2016.
