Using Fyre Works Soft Sheen FT56 Vintage Gold, stitch the four wide bands in Slanted Satin Stitch as diagrammed. Using Fyre Works Soft Sheen FT59 Tawny Gold, stitch the three thin bands in reverse slant Continental as diagrammed. Face and Hands Stitches: Basketweave Tent Using three strands of Soie d’Alger 3508, stitch the cheeks in Basketweave. Using three strands of Soie d’Alger 4153, stitch the shadow of the nose and the dark outlines of the hands in Tent Stitch. Using three strands of Soie d’Alger 3932, stitch the face and hands in Basketweave. Using one strand each of Neon Rays N01 Black, N02, White and N54 Pale Blue, stitch the eyes in Tent Stitch. Using a red silk or cotton floss, stitch the lips as diagrammed. Hair and Eyebrows Stitch: Diagonal Long Arm Cross Outline Stitch Using two strands of Burmilana 3441 Teak, stitch the hair on the left side in Diagonal Long Arm Cross. Reverse the slant of the stich for the right side. Using the same threads, stitch the eyebrows in outline stitch. Red Robe Stitch: Horizontal Brick Stitch Using one strand of Petite Very Velvet V632 Brite Red, stitch the red robe in Horizontal Brick stitch. Stitch over the white trim at the bottom of the white smock. Collar Stitch: Diagonal Satin Stitches Using one strand of Arctic Rays AR2 White, stitch the collar in diagonal satin stitches, reversing the slant on the opposite side. White Smock Stitch: Four-‐way Continental Roumanian Stitch Couching Trellis French Knots Note: All stitching on the smock should be done over the shading. Using one strand of Petite Silk Lamé Braid SP02 White, stitch the top part of the smock in Four-‐way Continental. Using the same thread, stitch the sleeves in Roumanian Stitch, reversing the slant on the opposite sleeve. Continuing with the same thread, stitch the body of the smock in Couching Trellis* filled with an oblong 4x2 cross. The last row of the Couching Trellis should encroach into the red of the robe. Stitch four French Knots at the bottom of each of the Couching Trellis stitches. Shoes Stitch: Basketweave Using one strand of Neon Rays N01 Black, stitch the shoes in Basketweave. *Couching Trellis Diagram © Julia Snyder
