Interior Design Library ideas
I see a single Interior Design Library portal that faculty can link to that then has heading tabs to divide the “library”
into (4) different areas: Research Resources (building on what has already been created), Creative Resources,
Products & Materials, and Educational Resources.
Educational Resources will have (8) tabs covering specialty areas such as : healthcare design, historical furniture
styles, universal design, architectural styles, standards and specifications,
Sustainability, programming, and Building & Zoning Codes. These are divided into separate categories at the rear. In
addition to online sources, texts are mentioned with links to the original college libraries. These links need to be
removed and notes added that these books are available through interlibrary loan. My assumption is that NAU does
not have them.

HEALTHCARE FACILITIES
Finding information in the library catalog: The Library Catalog or OhioLINK
Use the Library Catalog to find books on health care facility design and related materials. Publications on this
subject are often found in many of the UC Libraries including Health Sciences, Nursing, DAAP and Langsam.
Useful subject headings to search include:
Clinics
Halfway Houses
Health Facility Planning
Health Facilities — Design and Construction
Hospitals — Design and Construction
Hospital Design and Construction
Long Term Care Facilities
Medical Centers
( beginning ?)Healthcare design can be challenging to research in that you must know a bit about the medical
condition that the environment will help to treat. Facilities, environmental psychology and evidence-based
research and design are all important parts of the process.
To get started, make sure you have all of the applicable terms for a medical condition. There are several books
available as Ebooks through Credo reference. You can either search in Credo, or go to specific books to
browse.
Encyclopedia of Medical Anthropology: Health and Illness in the World's Cultures
Search for chapters on Aging, Cardiovascular Disease, Alcoholism, Mental Disorders and other topics from a
global perspective.
Collins Dictionary of Medicine
An excellent resource to find terminology about the body to help in searching.
