Summer Recreation
Listed below are the programs that Summer Recreation will offer
this year. Summer Rec. has always gone well because the
Lanesboro Community takes part in these activities. Please note
the starting dates listed for each activity. Registration forms are at
the back of this booklet.
Please note July 4th is on Saturday this
year. All summer rec. activities will be canceled on Friday, July
3rd.
*In case of severe weather; cancellation information will be posted
on KFIL 103.1 out of Preston. Any questions please contact James
Semmen at 467-2229.
Beginning Baseball
Students entering 2nd – 4th grade are eligible to
play Beginning Baseball. Practices will be Tuesday –
Friday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Beginning
Baseball Tournaments are for boys entering 2nd through
4th grade and will be on Mondays. A schedule of those
tournaments will be given out the first week of practice. Practice
starts June 1st.
Pee Wee Baseball
Pee Wee baseball will be offered to boys entering 4th & 5th grade.
Practices will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Friday
mornings from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Tournaments will be on Thursday
nights. A schedule of tournaments will be given out the first week
of practice. Practice begins June 1st.
Little League Baseball
Little League baseball will be offered for any boys
who have completed 5th - 7th grade. Practices will be
at 9:00 a.m. and last until 10:30 on non-game days.
Games will be scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays..
Game days and times are subject to change. We will
be playing two games per day.
Our first practice

will be held on June 1 . A game schedule will be given out at this
time. No registration is required. In case of rain, we will have
practice in the gym.
Underhand Fast Pitch
Underhand fast pitch will be offered for any girls who
have completed 2nd – 7th grade. Practices will be held at
10:30 a.m. and last until 12:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays,
& Thursdays.
Tournaments will be held every
Wednesday. Our first practice will be held on June 1st. A game
schedule will be handed out at this time. No registration is
required. In case of rain, we will have practice in the gym.
Soccer
Soccer will be offered as an activity for boys and girls 5
to 12 years of age. Learn about the sport along with
getting exercise and having fun. This will be offered on
Mondays from 9:15 – 10:00 starting June 1st and run
until Monday, July 20th. We will meet at the football
field. No registration required.
Golf
Every Monday, Starting June 8th and running
through July 6th, golf will be offered to students
entering 1st - 6th grade. This program is designed
for students to grasp the basics of golf. Students
should meet at the Lanesboro Golf course and bring clubs and balls
Please sign up for one of the following sessions. There is a
maximum of 8 students per session and will be on a first come first
served basis. If there is a demand we will add a third session.
Session I:
1:00 – 1:45
Session II:
2:00 – 2:45
T-Ball
T-ball will be offered again as an activity for
kids ages 5-8. A summer rec. employee will be
on hand each T-ball session. We would like to
note that T-ball is a co-ed activity. Games will
be at the field next to the tennis courts Tuesday
mornings from 9:15 – 10:00 and at the softball
field on Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 7:00. Starting date is June
2nd. The last date for T-Ball is July 22nd. No registration is
required.
Wacky Wednesday
Each Wednesday from June 3rd – July 22nd we will have
a different activity from 9:15 – 10:00. Some activities
that are planned are bowling, capture the flag, flag
football, volleyball, basketball, etc. Meet on the ball field
next to the tennis courts.
Dodgeball
Dodgeball will be offered as an activity for boys and girls 5 to 12
years of age. We will split the ages accordingly and have two
games. We will meet in the high school gym. (If there is basketball
or volleyball camp, we will move to the tennis courts.) This will be
offered Thursdays from 9:15 – 10:00 starting June 4th and run until
Thursday, July 23rd.
Kickball
Kickball will be offered for boys and girls 5 to 10 years of
age. Kids will learn the basics of kickball, get exercise, and
have fun. This will be offered on Fridays from 9:15-10:00
starting June 5th and run through July 24th. We will meet
at the field next to the tennis courts. No registration required.
Weightlifting & Open Gym
The weight room will be open and supervised Monday Friday mornings from 6:30-8:00 a.m. starting June 1st. It
will be open in the evenings on Monday - Thursday from
6:30 -8:30 p.m. There will be qualified personnel to help any
individual with a weight program. This is for grades 7 on up
and adults. The last date the weight room & open gym will be open
is August 1st.
Valleyfair
We will be taking a trip to Valleyfair on Tuesday, June 9th.
Ticket prices are as follows: above 4 yrs = $21.50. The bus
will leave Lanesboro at 8:00 a.m. and return at
approximately 9:00 p.m. Children 12 years of age and younger
must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Anyone wishing to
go must sign up and pay by Tuesday, June 2nd in the school
office. YOU MUST RIDE THE BUS TO ATTEND THIS
EVENT!!
Open Swimming
Open swimming will be offered again this summer. It will
be held on Mondays and Thursdays, starting Monday,
June 1st and ending July 30th. The bus will leave from
the school at 12:45 p.m. and return at approximately
4:15 p.m. There needs to be a minimum of 7 people on the bus for
the bus to go.
Fees are quoted from last year and may not be accurate:
$95.00 Family Season Pass (Big Pool)
$50.00 Single Season Pass (Big Pool)
$25.00 Season Pass (Baby Pool)
$4.00 Daily Admittance
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons will be offered this
summer at the Preston pool. The fee for
Non-Preston Residents is $35.00.
Swimming lesson dates for Lanesboro
students are:
July 27th – July 31st.
4:05 – 5:00 Levels 2, 3, 5
5:05 – 6:00 Levels 1, 2, 4
6:05 – 7:00 Levels 1, 5, 6
We will contact you with your child’s lesson time. Lanesboro
Summer Recreation will provide transportation for this session.
The bus will leave at 3:45 and arrive back in Lanesboro at 7:30.
Payment must be paid directly to Lanesboro Summer Recreation
upon registration. There is a maximum limit of 10 children per
class, so please contact the school at your earliest convenience for
assurance of a desired class. The deadline will be Friday, June 5th.
Please fill out the registration form at the back of this booklet,
enclose a check and return it to the Lanesboro School Office.
Please note if you do not sign up on or before June 5th you will
need to register directly at the Preston Pool. Make up days will be
August 3rd and August 4th.
Elementary Burro Football Camp
Who: Boys & Girls entering grades 2nd – 8th.
What: Fundamental Football Camp
When: 2nd – 6th grade July 27th -Ju1y 29th 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
7th – 8th grade July 27th – July 29th 10:30 – 12:00
Cost: $20.00 due with registration this includes a football shirt.
Where: Lanesboro Football Field
Instructors: James Semmen, Kelly McMillen and varsity football
players.
Please sign up in the office by July 3rd to get a count for shirts and
sizes. Campers will work on basic football fundamentals such as
throwing, catching, kicking, blocking, etc.
Lanesboro Arts Center summer art class:
SURPRISE SCULPTURE
For students just finishing 1st6th grades
(but open to adults & older kids,
too!)

Every Tuesday for 6 weeks: July 9 - July 14th .
Meet at the St. Mane Theatre upstairs classroom, with LAC staff
In this class we will use a variety of materials and work as a group
to create a different sculpture/public art project each week. And
then . . . SURPRISE! We'll leave our work in an unsuspecting
public space in Lanesboro for our entire community to enjoy.
Surprise Sculpture is generously supported by the Arlin Falck
Foundation. More information can be found at
www.lanesboroarts.org. Bring a sack lunch and we'll eat as a
group as we brainstorm about each week's sculpture. Each week is
a new project -- so you can come to all three sessions or just one or
two. No need to register in advance -- just show up. Call

Wolves Wrestling Camp
Who: Entering 1 – 6 grade in the 2015-16 School Year
When: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday June 8th, 9th & 11th.
Time: Entering Grade 1st – 2nd 5:00 – 6:00
Entering Grade 3rd-6th – 6:30-8:00
Where: High School Wrestling Room, Harmony. Enter through lower level
wrestling door.
Cost: $25 per student

Join us for 3 days of Wolves wrestling. Along with the fundamentals of wrestling,
this camp will emphasize the importance of building meaningful relationships.
FCLMC Wrestling has a lot to be proud of at the youth and the high school level.
There are great and amazing wrestlers that have come out of this program and

Participants Entering Grades 1st – 2nd: Learn wrestling at a very basic
introductory level. Attention will be focused on development of young wrestlers
as technicians work alongside them. This camp is developed with younger, less
experienced wrestlers in mind.
Participants entering 3rd – 6th grade: Learn takedown strategies, escapes, and
how to pin. Along with good technique, we will work on hard work, ethics and
developing “mental toughness” that is critical to being successful in wrestling, as
well as in life.
