La Majagua Development is a privately-held
corporation dedicated to developing approximately
600 hectares – about 1500 acres - of ocean-front
property in the Samana area of the Dominican
Republic.
The La Majagua Development vision is to develop the
real estate into a low-density luxury resort destination
with six-star hospitality and casino operations on the
one side, and estate-sized lots for custom-built homes

multi million dollars in the infrastructure of the area,
including opening a new international airport located
within 10 minutes of the property, a toll road that
connects the airport with the Samana Peninsula
crossing through the property, a three-lane highway
connecting Samana with the capital, Santo Domingo,
and an aquaduct bringing potable water to the region.
The Dominican Republic has a politically stable,
representative government with one of the fast
growing economies in the world, the adoption of
sound macroeconomic policies and greater opening to

Dominican Republic - Location, location, location
The Dominican Republic is located on the eastern half of the island of Santo
Domingo, at the cross-roads of the Americas. Situated between Central America and
Europe, and between North and South America, the Dominican Republic has rapdily
become a premiere tourist destination, with magnificent beaches, vast extensions of
white sand and clear, and sparkling waters. Because of its location within the Tropic
of Cancer, the area enjoys a variable tropical climate with lush vegetation and a
pristine environment.
The property owned by La Majagua Development is located in the Samana Peninsula
and encompasses 605 hectares, approximately 1500 acres or a little over 6 million
sq. meters. The land that makes up La Majagua Development is extremely diverse,
and the Master Plan for the design and development of the three major planning
sectors on the property respond to the natural features found here. To truly understand the evolution of the master plan for La Majagua Development, it is important

There are three distinct types of topography on the property: the beaches, coast
cliffs and coastal hills. The natural features within each area helped shape the
Master Plan and influenced the detailed planning of the residential area as well as

The Samana
Peninsula
Located at the extreme northeast corner
of the Dominican Republic, Samana is as
uniquely beautiful as it is topographically diverse. Tour the land with us, as
we start with Cayo Levantado island, the
highest part of the coral reef barrier that
protects the Samana Bay from strong
ocean winds. Wall diving here provides
some of the most breath-taking views of
the spectacular coral formations, where
the clear waters are teaming with
abundant sealife, providing for the
perfect destination for snorkelers and divers alike.
Onshore, we find undisturbed stretches of white, palm-fringed, sandy beaches that
merge with upwardly-sloped grass praries, culminating in soaring mountain peaks.
Here, we are at the most vantage lookout points across the bay to the south and the
Atlantic to the north, with lush tropical greenery in between peppered with various
plantations of native fruits, coconuts, coffee, and chocolate. The limestone terrain
characterized by ravines and underground streams hosts numerous caves, passages,
caverns and grottoes that are largely unexplored and open to discovery of a fascinating
subterranean world. The Salto Limon waterfalls are about 130 feet high and plunge
into pristine pools of crystal water.
Columbus described Samana as the most beautiful land in the world; with its yearround subtropical weather, visitors find it to be a true paradise. All the major cruise
lines include Samana on their list of ports of call, and the Samaná Tourism Cluster
actively promotes the competitive advantage of the Samaná tourism value. Supported
by the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, the Dominican National Competitiveness Council, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the cluster
works through legislation to promote tourist development locations with great
tourism potential, including the Samaná Peninsula.
