SPECIAL NEEDS PARKING
We ask that for all weekend Masses
everyone help us make the parking
spaces on Park Street available to
those with disabilities and other temporary or permanent special needs and
mobility issues. Beginning this weekend there will be signs in the grass
along Park Street between Mitchell
and Walnut indicating this special
parking area. For those who do have
health or mobility issues, please feel free to park there –
this is for your benefit!
FALL BACK
Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday,
November 1. Don’t forget to turn back
your clocks.
The Women’s Center (a Catholic-based organization helping women in crisis pregnancies offering life affirming
alternatives to abortion) needs YOU! Are you a college
student, retired adult, or servant hearted person with M-F
9 a.m.-5 p.m. availability, looking to build your resume or
lend a hand? Starting immediately, your help is needed to
prepare bottles (clean, tag, and box them) for our next
Baby Bottle Campaign so they can be sent to churches and
schools. The spare change we collect in this campaign is
our biggest fundraiser! It is a perfect project for a group of
folks that wants to talk while working on a project or for
single volunteers. We are located at 5116 N. Cicero Ave.
Hours are flexible but regular weekly hours are ideal. Or
make a day of it: clean bottles 9 a.m.-12 noon, attend
Mass in our chapel at noon, eat lunch, then help till 5 p.m.
Please let me know if you are interested. Reach out to
Paige at [email protected] or 773-794-8807
for more details or to learn of other volunteer opportunities at The Women’s Center.
ST. MARK’S
NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DRIVE
Monthly Garage Drop Off is this Sunday, Sunday, November 1st 8 a.m. to noon. Drop-off bin every Sunday
(located across from the drinking fountain outside
the Gathering Place).
Thank you to the volunteers in October: Joe & Julie
Cleary, Chuck & Kathy Wilk along with their CFM
Group.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS - Please call: John &
Lynne Toomey for garage collecting and Bill & Julie
Cleary for delivery to St. Mark’s.

Who
Christ Is
A campaign for strong parishes, Catholic education and faith formation in the Archdiocese of Chicago
SECOND CONSECUTIVE $200,000-PLUS WEEKEND BOOSTS OLW’S COMMITMENT
The “active” phase of Our Lady of the Wayside’s participation in the “To Teach Who Christ Is” campaign ended last weekend with a second consecutive “$200,000 – plus” pledge week. While some pledges were still arriving at the Parish Center on Monday and Tuesday, the early count from last weekend was $203,000, slightly higher than the pledge total for the previous weekend. As he did on the previous weekend, OLW Pastor, Father Ed Fialkowski, spoke at all the weekend Masses and played a recorded message from Archbishop Blase Cupich, endorsing the “To Teach Who Christ Is” campaign. The campaign was launched by Bishop Cupich’s predecessor, the late Francis Cardinal George. The campaign will continue, although with less active encouragement of parishioners to contribute. The Archdiocese of Chicago has specified a five‐year period for each of the several hundred parishes to meet its goal. Parishioners who make pledges are asked to fulfill them within the five‐year period but, of course, earlier payment will allow earlier implementation of the parish projects list. Our Lady of the Wayside’s goal is $3 million, one of the higher goals in the Archdiocese. The goal was set based on OLW’s track record for support of Archdiocesan projects and the addition of some costly projects to the parish portion of the list. Pledge cards are temporarily available at the back of the church and parishioners who did not receive one may com‐
plete a blank and deposit it in the Sunday collections. Or parishioners may get a pledge card or get further information at the Parish Office.
HERE IS A LIST OF THE PROPOSED PROJECTS

CONNECTING
Our Mind, Body, And Spirit
Looking for a way to relax and reduce your stress level a
bit? Looking for some quiet prayer time? Why not combine the two? Join us once a month for an evening of
yoga, aromatherapy, prayer, guided meditation, and
peaceful music. We will use yoga postures, movement,
and breathing to relax our bodies and minds in preparation for prayer and Scripture-based meditations. The next
session is on November 4th from 7:30 to 8:30 pm in the
Gathering Place. All ability levels are welcome, as the
postures and movements can be adapted to what each individual is able to do. Please bring either a yoga mat or a
beach towel.
If you have any questions, contact Mandy Dillon in the
parish office: 847-253-5353 or pastoralassociate@olw

in the bulletin? Send Mandy and email to sign up to receive an email reminder about these sessions.

YOU ARE INVITED
To Our Lady of the Wayside Women’s
Christ Renews his parish Retreat
When: Saturday morning November 14
Sunday, afternoon November 15
Where: Our Lady of the Wayside
What: A weekend retreat for personal reflection and renewal
An escape from the everyday to embrace the Eternal
We invite women who are seeking to enrich their faith journey for a
weekend of spiritual renewal.
We will enjoy each other’s fellowship, explore the Gospel and how it
impacts our lives, and reflect on our personal relationship with God.
With prayer and renewed grace, we hope to be better followers of Christ,
in order to impact our families and community in a loving, meaningful,
and Christian way. This is how Christ renews his parish.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace,
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
