Manager’s Notes...
Russ Libby, Owner/Manager
Happy New Year and
Happy 50th Birthday Hidden Hills!!
Exciting times lie ahead for our club in 2016 as
we celebrate our 50th Anniversary starting this
month!
It is hard to believe that a half-century has
passed since the Florida Times Union announced
that the “Swank Hidden Hills Club” was coming to Arlington and many great memories have
been formed over the years.
Hidden Hills has enjoyed an exciting history
having hosted the Greater Jacksonville Open,
the precursor to The PLAYERS, three times with
the eyes of the golf world watching legends like
Nicklaus, Trevino, Player & Jacklin stroll the
fairways of the original Dave Gordon design.
The club transitioned from an all-male club to a
family Country Club in the 70s and the course
was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in the late 80s
to accommodate development of the beautiful
community that surrounds it.
Through all these years Hidden Hills Country
Club has maintained a rich tradition of excellence that can make us all proud. Throughout
the year we will be sharing historical tidbits for
your enjoyment and paying tribute to some of
our longest tenured members. In the fall we will
celebrate with a 50th Anniversary Party they’ll
be talking about for the next 50 years!
If you have any fond memories or club memorabilia that you’d like to share please feel free to
come by or email membership@hiddenhillscc.
com. In the meantime, stop by the golf shop and
purchase some 50th Anniversary merchandise!
Again, thanks for your continued support of
Hidden Hills and we look forward to sharing this
special year with you. Happy 2016!
Congratulations to Steve Martin, our
2015 Employee of the Year!
We are very pleased to name
Steve Martin, our Sous Chef, as
the 2015 Employee of the Year
at Hidden Hills Country Club!
Steve really stepped up and kept
our kitchen operations running
smoothly through the transitions of two new executive chefs
in the past year.
Despite a very hectic schedule
with all of our holiday events
this past December, Steve is
always cheerful and enthusiastic
and keeps the kitchen morale
high. He and his wife Michelle enjoyed a festive Christmas with
their three grown children and extended family, and are looking
forward to a fantastic 2016. Steve is a valuable part of our team
here at Hidden Hills and we surely appreciate him and his many
talents. Be sure to congratulate Steve when you see him!
All of our staff would like to extend their sincere appreciation to
our members for your generosity in contributing to our
Employee Holiday Bonus Fund! You’ve made our holiday
even more festive and we thank you. Happy New Year!

Lamm on Golf
By David Lamm
It’s a new year and that means many of you made
New Year’s resolutions. That, of course, means you
set yourselves up for failure because, let’s be honest,
how many of us follow through on our resolutions?
Hopefully I can help.
The key to making resolutions we can successfully achieve is to make our resolutions more realistic.
For example, instead of saying you’re going to lose
40 pounds, make a resolution you’re not going to
gain any weight. Odds are good that if you work at
not gaining weight you’ll lose a few pounds.
This theory can be applied to making resolutions
about your golf game. Instead of saying you’re going to achieve a certain handicap or reach a new
milestone in scoring (break 100, break 90, etc.),
seek to accomplish lesser goals.
Here are some examples:
• No more 3-putts. Work on your lag putting and
work on making your knee-knocking 4-footers.
• No more triple bogeys. Eliminating the big numbers is the best way to lower your score. The best
way to do that is not being greedy (a nicer word
than stupid). That means don’t try to make up for
a water ball or an out-of-bounds shot by attempting a great shot you’re not capable of pulling off.
Play smart and be happy to make a bogey, even a
double-bogey.
• Don’t think in terms of 9-hole or 18-hole scores.
Think about playing more good holes. View your
rounds by the number of pars you make. Or bogeys. As those numbers go up your overall score
will go down. So instead of being upset you shot
52 on the front, be happy to say you made two pars
and three bogeys.
• If you like to practice, remember your time is
better spent chipping and putting than emptying
three bags of range balls with your driver. Truth is,
all of us – young and old, physically fit or having
physical ailments, etc. – can learn to chip and putt.
On the other hand, no matter what driver you buy,
how many lessons you take, how many balls you
hit . . . well, you’re never going to be able to drive a
golf ball like Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy or Dustin
Johnson.
• Remember, you play golf for fun (even if there’s a
small wager involved). Enjoy yourself. Believe it or
not, no one judges you by your game. You’re judged
by how you conduct yourself.
Now go have a great year, on and off the golf
course.
