PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS
CHRISTMAS FLOWERS – Thank you to everyone
who contributed to the Christmas Flower Fund. The
beauty of our Church throughout the Christmas
season is a reflection of the love expressed by each
of you for your loved ones, living and deceased.
Please continue to enjoy the lovely flowers and greenery as we
celebrate Christmas through the Feast of the Lord’s Baptism on
January 11. We especially acknowledge the Council of Catholic
Women for sponsoring the Christmas Flower Fund, and to the
Art and Environment Committee for their creativity in decorating
the church.
FAITH IN ACTION AND FUND FOR THE POOR
– Due to the generosity of our parish community,
and through your financial contributions to the
Fund for the Poor each month, this year our parish was able to make a special grant to Braes
Interfaith Ministries to provide holiday meats to
the clients served by BIM. For Thanksgiving, a donation of
$6000 was made, and for Christmas a donation of $3000 was
granted. These special, designated grants allowed for each client to receive a large chicken or other meat for their holiday
meals. A special thank you is offered to Eloy Montez, Executive
Director of Braes Interfaith Ministries, for negotiating a reasonable purchase price with our local Kroger grocery store.

The VIRTUS® “Protecting God’s Children” for Adults Workshop is a 3-hour session focusing on the prevention of abuse
and the protection of children. After 5 years employees/
volunteers will need to take the VIRTUS “Keeping the Promise
Alive” Refresher Workshop. All church and school volunteers
who work with children, or are involved in ministry, are required
to take VIRTUS. Register online at www.virtus.org. If you

BRAES RESALE SHOP OPENS
JANUARY 2015
Braes Interfaith Ministries announces the reopening of the Braes Resale Shop, scheduled
for January 2015. The Resale Shop’s new location is in the
Foodarama shopping center, at S. Post Oak and Willowbend.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
SUNDAY CCE CLASSES ARE IN SESSION!
SPECIAL REMINDER – The English CCE classes resumed
last Sunday. All CCE students are asked to report to class by
10:15 am. Spanish CCE classes resume this Sunday, with
class beginning at 11:45 am.
INFANT BAPTISM PREPARATION CLASSES
SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 2015
Are you planning to have your child baptized in the near future? All parents must attend Baptism Preparation Classes;
Godparents are strongly encouraged to attend. Classes will be
held on Monday, January 12 and Monday, January 26 at 7:00

interview with the Director of Religious Education, John Russo.
An interview is required prior to registering for the class.

PROYECTO DE ANGELES DE ADVIENTO
Muchas gracias a todos y cada uno de los feligreses que apoyaron el proyecto de Angeles de
Adviento de este año. Qué gozosa Navidad proporcionaron ustedes a aquellos menos afortunados. Fue posible servir a 48 familias, incluyendo
a 96 niños. Más de 400 regalos y 85 cajas de
despensa fueron distribuidos beneficiando primordialmente a miembros de nuestra comunidad y vecinos. También compartimos regalos de Navidad y despensas con la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Gracia del Sur de Houston y
Casa Juan Diego. ¡Su generosidad es conmovedora y grandemente apreciada pos las familias beneficiadas! Muchos de
ellos hasta lloran de gozo y gratitud bendiciendo a todos los
que contribuyen.
Nuestra parroquia Corpus Christi tiene el gusto de participar en
el proyecto de Angeles de Adviento con los Caballeros de Colón, Supermercados Fiesta, Pepsi Cola y el Departamento de
Policía de Houston. A todos nuestros voluntarios y donadores,
muchas gracias por compartir su tiempo para proveer el gozo
del mensaje que nos brinda la Navidad a cada una de estas
familias. ¡Feliz Navidad!
FLORES DE NAVIDAD – Muchas gracias a
todos los que contribuyeron al Fondo de
Flores de Navidad. La hermosura de nuestra Iglesia durante la temporada de Navidad
es un reflejo del amor expresado por ustedes para sus seres
queridos, vivos y difuntos. Por favor continuemos gozando de
las hermosas flores y arreglos durante la celebración de Navidad hasta el Bautismo del Señor el 11 de enero. Reconocemos
de una manera especial al Concilio de Damas Católicas por

Protegiendo a los Niños de Dios – VIRTUS – Sábado 17 de
enero, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
(Este curso es requerido
para todos aquellos que desean ser voluntarios en la iglesia y la escuela y a quienes sirven en ministerios)
VIRTUS “Protegiendo a los Niños de Dios” - El Taller para
Adultos es una sesión de 3 horas incluyendo 2 videos y facilitando una discusión enfocada a la prevención de abuso y la
protección de los niños. Los participantes aprenden a reconocer las señales y síntomas que un adulto esta en peligro de
hacer daño a los niños y cómo reconocer si los niños han sido
victimas de alguna manera. Además, aprenderán acerca de
las medidas que la comunidad de fe puede tomar para crear
un ambiente seguro para los niños de Dios y cómo actuar en
caso de que un adulto se comporte en una forma que despierte sospechas. Este taller es valido por 5 años. Después de 5
años, empleados/voluntarios es requerido que tomen VIRTUS
“Mantenido la Promesa Viva” Taller de Actualización.
BAUTISMO – El próximo Bautismo se va a celebrar
el domingo 8 de febrero del 2015. Padres de familia
de nuestra comunidad que quieran bautizar en esta
fecha, es necesario que registrarse cuanto antes.

ST. PIUS X HIGH SCHOOL - St. Pius X High School will administer the Catholic High School Entrance Exam on Sat., Jan. 31,
2015 at 8:30 a.m. Students should report to the school entrance
by the auditorium by 8:15a.m.; the test will last until approximately12:00 noon. The testing fee is $50.00. If you have not
already done so, please register for the HSPT on line at
stpiusx.org. Also, check out the scholarship program online.
Breakfast will be served in the Bramanti Library for parents who
wish to visit with prospective parents and St. Pius X staff.
FE EN ACCION Y FONDO PARA LOS
POBRES – Gracias a la generosidad de
nuestra comunidad parroquial, y a través
de sus contribuciones financieras al Fondo
de los Pobres cada mes. Este año a nuestra parroquia le fue
posible ofrecer una contribución especial al Servicio Interreligioso de Braes para proveer carnes a sus clientes en estos días
festivos. Para el Día de Acción de Gracias una donación de
$6,000 dólares fue hecha y para Navidad una donación de
$3,000 se ofreció. Estas donaciones especiales permiten que
cada cliente reciba un pollo grande u otro tipo de carne para las
comidas festivas. Especialmente agradecemos el Sr. Eloy
Montez, Director Ejecutivo por negociar un precio razonable con
el supermercado local de Kroger.
VENTA DE PUPUSAS – ¡Vengamos todos a disfrutar de una
rica comida recién hecha! Ofrecida por el Grupo de Renovación para recavar fondos y así poder ofrecer a nuestra comunidad oportunidades de formación, vigilias y retiros y también
compartir sus ganancias con la parroquia. ¡Que Dios bendiga
su generosidad y espíritu de servicio!
CATECISMO – Gracias por traer a sus hijos al Catecismo este
domingo y asistir a la Reunión de padres de familia.

familia. Tomemos muy en cuenta esta
fecha, ya que su participación es parte de la formación

Oración para el Año de la Vida Consagrada
Oh Dios, tú que a través de los tiempos has
llamado a mujeres y hombres a fin de que
vivan la caridad perfecta por medio de los
consejos evangélicos de la pobreza, la castidad
y la obediencia.
Durante este Año de la Vida
Consagrada te damos gracias por estos valientes testigos de la
fe, que son también modelos de inspiración. Con su empeño por
lograr la santidad ellos nos enseñan a ofrecerte nuestra vida de
una manera más perfecta.
Te pedimos que continúes enriqueciendo a tu Iglesia con hijos e
hijas que, habiendo encontrado la perla de gran valor, atesoran
el Reino de los cielos por encima de todas las cosas.
Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu Hijo,
que vive y reina contigo en la unidad
del Espíritu Santo y es Dios por
los siglos de los siglos, Amén.
