A MONTHLY (PARROT HEAD TIME) PUBLICATION OF
THE PARROTHEADS OF NORTH CAROLINA
PHofNC
PO Box 97993
Raleigh, NC 27624
..partying with a purpose!.
The Year of Still Here Is Almost Here!
If you don’t already have tickets, it may
not be too late. Watch for e-mail blasts from us
about tickets that become available, or go to
Craig’s List or other sites—but good luck with
the ticket prices (last we heard, $30 lawn tickets
were going for $80!). We only pass along the
information and assume no responsibility for
your transactions, but we’d certainly love to
have you join the party!
Whether you have tickets or not, we hope
you’ll come down to Buckhead Saloon on
Friday, June 6, for the pre-party celebration. It
is located at 411 West Morgan Street, Raleigh,
and the doors open at 5 p.m., with drink
specials and free appetizers. There is no cover
charge but donations will being accepted for
Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Rum Punch Bandits, a JB cover band,
will be performing, and a Margarita Frozen
Concoction Maker and other gift baskets will be
raffled off with the proceeds also going to
Make-A-Wish Foundation.
There will be a trivia contest to keep your
minds sharp, with tickets to the concert as
prizes, so brush up on your Buffett facts. Bruce
“Doc” Crandall has stayed awake nights to
come up with really hard questions!
After “partying with a purpose”
downtown on Friday night, Saturday
will start bright and early for those of
you who have volunteered to help set
up at the Time Warner Music Pavilion
at Walnut Creek. You should plan to
arrive by noon, or as soon thereafter as
possible. There will be 10 canopies,
tables, a PA system, membership and
merchandise tables, and shrimp from
Margaritaville Seafood to be prepared
and/or erected! While fun is always an
integral part of our get-togethers, make
no mistake, we will be “working” this
event!
For everyone else, the parking
lots open at 3 p.m.—parking is on a
first come first served basis—and gates
open at 6 p.m. for the 8 p.m. concert.

Swine Not?
A Novel Pig Tale
The Times-Picayune has a review of Jimmy’s new book: “In Jimmy Buffett’s novel, a pig
takes Manhattan” by Susan Larson
Jimmy Buffett — singer, songwriter, novelist, memoirist — has told his share of whoppers
and fish stories in the past, but his new novel, “Swine Not?” ventures into meaty territory as
a pig and her family take up residence in a posh New York hotel where no exotic pets are
allowed.
This idea comes from collaborator Helen Bransford, whose pet stars in the amusing photo
illustrations that appear in the book. “Swine Not?” is a long way from Margaritaville, but it’s
a nice place to visit.
And more recent news:
Jimmy Buffett’s new book “Swine Not?” comes in at #17 on the USA TODAY bestseller
list based on sales through May 18. The book is currently at #25 on the Amazon.com best
sellers list.
Buffett Gambles on Atlantic City
Atlantic City’s Trump Marina Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey is being sold
to a New York company who, along with Jimmy Buffett, will rename the Casino
“Margaritaville.”\
“They are buying a wonderful building in a great location,” Trump said in a statement.
“It has been an important part of our company with a loyal customer base and a
dedicated team.”
Richard T. Fields, chairman of
Coastal Marina, said the casino will
take on a new identity once the sale 2008 Officers
closes. No timetable was given.
“Together with Jimmy Buffett’s
team at Margaritaville, our plans are
Deena Perillo
to create an exciting new property that we believe will tap its full potential and make
President
it one of the most successful destination gaming resorts in Atlantic City,” Fields
[email protected]
said.
Trump Marina was the lowest performing of Trump’s three Atlantic City
properties. Located in the city’s marina district, it was dwarfed by market leaders —
and marina neighbors — the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and Harrah’s Atlantic
City.
Trump Marina covers 14 acres and includes a 27-story hotel with 728 guest
rooms, including 153 suites. It has 79,000 square feet of casino floor space and
approximately 58,000 square feet of convention, ballroom and meeting space. It
also has an 11-bay bus terminal and a roof-top helipad, as well as a nine story
parking garage capable of accommodating approximately 3,000 cars. The property
also includes the lease for the Senator Frank S. Farley State Marina.
The sale marks the conclusion of an on-again, off-again courtship that Trump
Entertainment Resorts has been conducting with potential suitors for the past year.
At least two prior deals to sell all or part of the company fell through.
