completely pestered to drink Boulevard
products in March, we have a sales contest every year in that month and if we
reach our goal then we win a party at the
brewery. It’s always a great time and this
year the entire staff was able to go and
bring a guest. Everyone who attended
appeared to have a great time. Thank
you Boulevard and all the people that
helped us reach our goal by drinking
Boulevard.

News
Well lets start with what went on in
May. First of all, Thank You to everyone who participated in our 3rd Annual
Golf Tournament. We were able to raise
$7,502 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. That is about $2,000 more
than last year! Nicely done! And how
about the great weather that day. That
never happens at our golf tournaments!
Everyone that I talked to had a great time
and the people at the course also enjoyed
having us there. But I was a little disappointed that A. I didn’t get to go this year
(someone had to hold down HQ) and B.
that 3 beers made it back to the bar with
the soft beverages. I mean how did no
one find those?
We were able to go to the Boulevard
Brewery for the 3rd year in a row. For
those of you who don’t know or weren’t
8th Annual Dunk
Tank Fundraiser
Our 8th Annual Dunk Tank Fundraiser
benefiting breast cancer research and
awareness is coming up in just a few days
on the 9th of this month. We have been
working hard along with the Boobtrotters to get everything ready to go. So let
me tell you what is going on that day. We
will be taking $10 donations at the door
starting after lunch. However if you are
a lunch regular for Burger Thursdays and
want to make a donation, there will be
a volunteer there who will be more than
willing to take that from you. We will set
up all the auction stuff in the morning so
that you can take a look at all the fabulous
items and choose what you want to bid
on. Among those items will be numerous
baskets of restaurant gift certificates, hair
salon service gift certificates, a Jager machine, and what I’m most excited about
... a Segway!
People will start getting in the Dunk
Tank at 2pm and there will be someone in there to be dunked until last call.
[email protected]
Wanna get dunked? Still have a few slots
open. Of course, we will have lots of great
drink specials all day. We will have the
usual Thursday $2.25 wells, $3.25 calls,
and $4.25 premiums. We are bringing
Chambord in for the day so that you
can “Pink Your Drink”. We have some
PBR Pounders for $3 and 24 oz. Corona
cans for $4. Those are some big brown
baggers! Then of course we will have the
Boobie Tubies for $2. The buffet will be
up and running
at 6pm and this
year will feature
pizza and pasta.
DJ
Creepygirl
was kind enough
to donate her
time to the event
this year and she
will begin playing at 7pm. Also, Jordan
Haiduk (the newest member of our staff
and resident photographer) has agreed
to donate her time and professional picture taking skills to the event. Not that I
don’t thoroughly enjoy all of the crotch
shots that Koolaid takes for me after he
has tossed back a couple too many but it
will be nice to have some photos from a
pro this year.
Then as always, 10% of all sales from
the bar will be donated to the charity so
don’t hesitate to have “just one more”. It’s
a donation after all! So now all we need is
a little cooperation from Mother Nature
in the form of some perfect weather and
we will be set for what will hopefully be
our most successful Dunk Tank Fundraiser to date!
Royals Baseball
by Brando Commando
As I sit here typing, no one knows what
our Boys in Blue are going to do. The
Royals were one of the biggest surprises
the first month and a half of the season.
Now, many say they are settling in to the
1
team they really are. They were leading the division! They were hitting the
ball like crazy! The bullpen was one of
the best in baseball! Now, they are hitting sporadically, the bullpen has blown
up, and the sketchy starting pitching has
faltered. The Royals are currently in 4th
place in the division, 9 games behind
the surprising Indians. What is going
to happen this season? No one knows.
There is one thing that I know for a
fact though. Kansas City Royals fans
are some of the best in baseball. As I
was working last Friday, the Royals were
in the midst of a 14 inning game with
the Rangers. When the final out happened and the Royals ended up victorious, Maloneys went CRAZY! We Royals fans have been let down continuously
for over 2 decades now, but we still stand
by our team. I think Journey wrote the
soundtrack for KC fans in 1981 when
they released “Don’t Stop Believing”. I
haven’t. Have you??
Letters from the Chef:
by Chef Jeff
“I’m in the cal-zone”
PART 1
Not to be confused with Kenny
Loggins danger calzone or NFL’s cal end
zone. No sir or ma’am or child..whatever you are.....we are speaking of the
scrumptious and most often meaty calzone. The creation of this Italian delight
came about through an interesting story.
I remember it like it was yesterday. It
was 1984 and surely I was on the couch
listening to some UB40 and dreaming of
Tom Selleck doing something awesome
with his mustachio in Magnum PI, but
this isn’t a story about me it’s about Jonathon Peter Calzone. A musky dude with
a crooked smile and a passion for kittens.
Why kittens? I don’t know cause they’re
fluffy or some bullshit. Well Jonathon
works in a steel mill where he battles the
possibility of lock jaw or cutting his hand
off dicking around with his co-worker
buddy Stan. Stan’s cool, he’s a chunky
son of a bitch, but always in the mood
for some adventure. So one day Stan
decides to take Jonathon to a great little
hamburger shack called Mauds about 30
miles from work. Maud’s a classy dame
2
with big knockers and loves Duran Duran. The restaurant at first glance looked
a little suspicious to Jonathon, but God
does he love him some cheeseburgers.
They walked in and sat down and proceeded to peruse the menu. Maud came
over to greet them...you remember Maud
right?...the one with the knockers and the
“Sing blue silver” Duran Duran concert
shirt? He inquired about a few items listed and asked her if maybe she had anything special in the back she could whip
up for him. She said she had one “extra”
special item, but it took two people to
make it. Jonathon of course thinking she
means coitus happily agrees. She tosses
him an apron and sends him to the walkin for some onions and cheese. Jonathon, now pretty pissed about the lack of
coitus, heads that way to get started but
stopped to talk to Arturo. Arturo is a
lanky fella of Mexican descent and I have
ICE CREAM OF
THE MONTH:
no idea what he enjoys cause Jonathon
doesn’t speak Spanish. So a couple nods
of the head and off he went. As soon
as Jonathon stepped into the walk-in
the door closed behind him. He turned
around and found the door to be locked,
the whole place started shaking and everything was falling off the shelves. He
was screaming and screaming, but no
one could hear him. The shaking grew
stronger and all of a sudden it went dark
and he was knocked unconscious.
to be continued...
