Spanish Inspiration ~
Writing into the Light
Regan d’andrade
Regan’s belief is that we all have amazing stories to tell
that are unique to us and can only be told in our
particular voice. Her passion lies in watching her writer’s
unfurl and blossom, one petal at a time. She delights in
inspiring her students and is excited to facilitate your
writing process in Spain, in a place away from your day-to
-day life, and away from all of your worries and cares,
where you can fully immerse yourself in your writing
process and connect to your creativity while connecting
with fellow writers. Being in this exquisite setting,
soaking up the sunshine, the history, the glorious food
and wine, while connecting with other creative people,
will stimulate and inspire your writing journey.
Journey to the peaceful Andalucian countryside where
you may nurture and explore your own inventive talents
enjoying your own creative adventure at El Molino Viejo,
the old mill, in a tranquil valley surrounded by olive
groves. There’s time to absorb the relaxing atmosphere,
to savor Mediterranean cuisine during leisurely lunches
in the courtyard, tapas by candlelight and long convivial
dinners with new friends. Time too for afternoon dips in
the pool, for one-to-one instruction, country walks and
plenty of laughter.
For more creative inspiration there are excursions to the
delightful white town of Alhama de Granada, and to
historic Alhambra, UNESCO World Heritage. We’ll spend
time exploring the Nazrid palaces including the beautiful
Patio of the Lions. We’ll discover the charms of the
Summer palaces and Generalife with fountains, scented
flowers, patios and pools, the essence of romantic Spain.
With your final 2 nights in the vibrant city of Malaga,
where you can independently explore the extensive
variety of art galleries and museums, the portside cafes
and restaurants, taste the tapas, and enjoy the friendly
atmosphere in the wide pedestrian shopping streets and
plazas.
Expect to be inspired to write your story, to dive into
unexpected places and to discover that you have a
unique writer’s voice and a limitless supply of memories
and material to draw on to write stories that will
stimulate and surprise you.
Each teaching morning will consist of three hours of
instruction and writing with an extra hour or so of
meeting in the early evening before dinner for group
discussion. Regan will also be available for
individual discussion, which can be scheduled over the
course of the trip, if desired.
Hosts Chef Mike Powell and his wife Hilary are passionate
about Spanish culture and cuisine. Mike creates healthy
and sumptuous Mediterranean meals with quality local
fresh produce including fruits and vegetables grown a
stone’s throw from the mill. Join us in a shared small
group atmosphere where there is emphasis on individual
attention and instruction and time aplenty for writers at
all levels to expand their creative skills.
We welcome non-writing partners and offer them a
Spanish Experience, light hearted Spanish Conversation
with a tutor for beginners or those wishing to brush up
their linguistic skills, a couple of hands-on Cooking sessions in the kitchen, two cooking demos, an olive oil
tasting and a sherry tasting as well as participation in the
excursions.
