BLUE VALLEY TIMES
MARCH 8, 2016
A Poem from the
Archives of Donald Jones
THAT NICE TIME OF THE YEAR
The third month of the year has an appropriate name
For it’s then we March into spring.
The cold winter days all are past
So let’s enjoy the warmth that March can bring.
It’s a new awakening; a brand new season
A wonderful time, a time that is pleasin’.
So get outside and live these wonderful days,
Breathe in that new fragrance of spring.
Just turn an ear and listen real close,
You’re sure to hear a robin sing.

Cuono’s 67th Wedding Anniversary
in Bangor. She retired from the garment industry in 1988.
Mr. Cuono is the son of the late John, Sr. and Madalena (Nicoletti) Cuono, who lived in West Bangor. He retired in 1987 after thirty-six years in the garment industry. He served in the 5th Air Force
Army in the South Pacific during World War II.
The couple was married on December 26, 1948, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Roseto by the late Reverend Joseph Ducci. Mrs. Cuono, given in marriage by her father, wore a white
satin gown trimmed with seed pearls and sequins. A headdress of seed pearls held her fingertip
veil, and she carried gardenias and lilies of the valley. The maid of honor was dressed in an aqua
taffeta gown with matching Juliet cap. She carried white chrysanthemums. The flower girl’s frock
was white satin. She wore a matching headpiece and carried white carnations. Members of the
bridal party were the best man, the late Mr. Angelo Cuono, the groom’s brother; the maid of honor,
the late Mrs. Marie (Visingaldi) Albanese; and the flower girl, Mrs. Cecilia (Cascioli) Oliver.
They were long time members of St. Roch’s Catholic Church in West Bangor. They have three
daughters: Priscilla, wife of Leon deLeon of Lower Saucon Township; Briedella, wife of Dennis Fehr
of Pen Argyl and Lori, wife of Edward Imparato of Cheyney. They also have three granddaughters
Myra Fehr, Krista, wife of Jason Evans, and Tresa Imparato; one grandson, Edward Imparato, Jr;
six great-grandchildren, Brian, William, Katherine, James, Ella, and Madelynn Evans.

VFW Donates Flag
Greg and Bonnie Andrews good friends of Kenny’s
who attended said “this was a beautiful ceremony,
thank you to the VFW for doing this.” There were
many who paid their respects including VFW Robert Beck, VFW Dustin Rose Retired Marine Sgt.
who wore his uniform and marched the flag into the
building for the dedication and many others. RRGC
member and friend of Kenny’s Donnie Housman
who works at a local business ‘Mc2’ that sells items
like flags and its accessories got permission from his
boss to donate a new pole, base and eagle topper to
go with the flag “we’ll remember Kenny every time we
pass by this flag at the club” said Housman.
The ceremony was a presentation of the flag, pole
and its base engraved ‘Donated by VFW Post 739
Bangor Pa. In memory of Kenny Reynolds’ by VFW
Home Association Pres. Dale Crum, Post Commander E. Edinger, Quartermaster Bob Washock
and Dustin Rose Retired Marine Sgt. Accepting
were RRGC Pres. Rick Ostrander and Club Vice
Pres. Lou Policelli. Pastor Berry a Veteran himself
gave a heartfelt prayer after the presentation.
On display at the club for the day was a collage
prepared by VFW Bob Washock and his wife Carrie (VFW Ladies Aux.) about the VFW’s sponsorship
for the squadron aboard the USS John Stennis an
air craft carrier. “I thought this would be appropriate
because Kenny’s duty in the Navy was an aviation
mechanic” said Washock. Currently the Washock’s
daughter inlaw Meghan Washock is serving on the
ship in the south pacific. One of the photos is of
Meaghan’s son ‘Skyping’ on the computer which is
the only way for him to see and communicate with
his mother. To date the Bangor VFW has donated
300lbs. of care packs through the sponsorship.
