DUSIT THANI ABU DHABI OPENED IN MAY
At 37-storeys, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi has already become an
iconic landmark in the U.A.E capital, dominating the heart of the

100 SMILES IN CHIANG MAI FOR DUSIT SMILES
Dusit International held a press conference at Maharaj Nakhorn
Chiang Mai Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand to announce its
sponsorship of cleft lip or cleft palate surgeries for 100 children
with these facial deformities. The sponsorship comes by way of
Dusit Smiles, a program created in partnership with Operation
Smile Thailand.
The surgeries are possible due to donations collected from guests
and staff of Dusit International’s hotels and resorts. Donations are
collected throughout the year via voluntary staff salary deductions,
donation boxes in the hotels, and various fundraisers organized
by the Group.
Founded in 2010, by 2011 Dusit Smiles raised enough funds to sponsor surgeries for nearly 80 children. In 2012, to commemorate
the auspicious occasion of the 85th birthday of HM the King of Thailand, the company sponsored 85 surgeries.
To date, Dusit Smiles’ efforts have raised over 3 million THB, used to cover the cost of medical equipment as well as transportation
for the children and their families. The surgeons, nurses and hospital staff are all volunteers.

Since 1997, Operation Smile Thailand has treated over 7,000 children with facial deformities. Children who do not receive
reconstructive surgery often have difficulty breathing, drinking, eating and speaking. As a result, many suffer from malnutrition,
medical and psychological problems. Approximately one in every 500 babies in Thailand is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate,
but in as little as 60 minutes, one surgery can change a child's life.

OPENS SALES OFFICE IN JAPAN

Regional Vice President for Middle East and Africa
In line with the company’s growth strategy during their
“Year of Expansion,” Asian hospitality group Dusit
International announces the opening of a new Regional
Sales Office in Tokyo, Japan to further develop longstanding relationships within one of the group’s most
important source markets.
Thierry Douin has been named Regional
Vice President for the Middle East and
Africa where he will oversee the company’s
expansion efforts, drive operational
performance and supervise the opening of
new hotels from the Dubai Regional Office.
He has been in the industry for more than
35 years and has managed luxury hotels for
various groups including InterContinental
Hotels and Resorts and most recently,
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Historically, Japan has been one of Dusit International’s
largest source markets and this is expected to continue
ahead of the opening of the Dusit Thani Guam resort.
Operations will be led by Keita Sekine, Regional
Director of Sales and Marketing - Japan, Dusit
International. With over fifteen years of operational
and sales experience, most recently Sekine was Director
of Sales with Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo K. K. and with
Marriott International at the Guam Marriott Resort and
Spa in Tumon, Guam. He holds a Bachelor of Science

Completing the Sales Team is Shuichi Ueda, Director

Dusit Thani Manila, Philippines where he was most
recently Assistant Director of Sales, overseeing
Japanese corporate and leisure accounts.

Europe. With over a decade’s experience
as Director of Global Sales with Starwood
Hotels and Resorts UK, Skibiel and her
team of three will oversee and develop the
company’s UK, European and Scandinavian
accounts across the MICE, corporate and
leisure market segments.
Skibiel holds a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree from Pacific Lutheran
University (USA) and has completed three
executive courses with INSEAD.

Dusit Thani College, in co-operation with Italy’s most prestigious
culinary institute, the Gambero Rosso, is pleased to present the
“Best of Italian” culinary courses to the general public and its
students. These courses will be offered from July – August 2013.
During the exclusive ‘Heavenly Nantha Garden Experience,’ all
stress and fatigue melt away while you are reconnect with the
calming and uplifting nature of the blooms. A generous amount
of enchanting pink lotus and champaca petals are applied with the
soothing essential oil distilled from jasmine and ylang ylang flowers
to gently pamper the skin and clear the mind.
The rejuvenating 2.5 hour treatment begins with the Devarana
Signature Bath and Scrub before ending with the ultimate
relaxing Devarana Signature Massage that combines ancient
Eastern massages like Thai, Ayurveda and Shiatsu with Western
techniques like Swedish and aromatherapy, and a Thai herbal steam
for respiratory clearing.
This course will help you appreciate the beauty and importance
of wine. You will also learn how best to pair wine with food and
explore wines from around the world, including the best Thai wines.
The course combines academic and practical knowledge with
wine tasting sessions and excursions to wineries and vineyards in
Thailand. The teacher is a highly skilled and experienced Food and
Beverage Professional and former sommelier, Christophe Mercier
from France.
The Wine Studies Course will run over a 10 week term. It is a 45hour program approved by the Thai Ministry of Education offered in
January, April, July and October every year. We welcome applicants
for July 2013 term but please note: there are only 12 places available
for each course.
