EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN
GO-TO WHEN SEEKING INSPIRATION.
For some, it’s a scenic spot, where they can gaze at the panorama of nature’s beauty or maybe the lights of the city
at night. Others allow themselves to be carried away by the rise and fall or pulsating rhythms of a favorite piece of
music. I find inspiration in the people who surround me – more specifically by the intelligent, creative, and highly
capable women in my life -- women who manage to strike a balance between their extremely busy personal lives
and their demanding careers.
Women are amazing creatures. Just like jewels, they are multifaceted, their passions reflected in so many different
ways – nurturing their families, serving their communities, excelling in their chosen fields, and expressing their
individuality in thoughts, words, and actions. Their lives are a canvas on which they paint every day, completely
covered in shapes and colors, but always evolving and never finished.
These are the thoughts that filled my mind when choosing the destination for this fall’s collection, and I realized there is
one city that epitomizes the multifaceted spirit of today’s woman – San Francisco. I love to sit in an open café, enjoying
an amazing bowl of cioppino and watching people as they hurry past – probably on their way to a museum exhibit,
a theatrical performance, shopping, or to meet friends for lunch -- dressed in a sophisticated combination of high
fashion and eclectic street style that is urban chic and very west coast.
The San Francisco Collection by OPI palette reflects a wonderful fall mélange of colors mixed with textures and finishes
that represent the hues in the masterpieces of all our lives.
Sky and sea shades (Dining al Frisco, Haven’t the Foggiest, Peace & Love & OPI, Keeping Suzi at Bay, and
Incognito in Sausalito); chocolaty hues of brown (A-Piers to Be Tan and I Knead Sour-Dough); east meets west coast
reds of Chinatown (Lost on Lombard, In the Cable Car-Pool Lane and First Date at the Golden Gate); and the flower
gardens of Golden Gate Park (Muir Muir on the Wall and Embarca-Dare Ya!).

AT NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2013
It was anything goes at New York Fashion Week this February where designers introduced looks that were rustic
and romantic, woodsy and country chic, metallic and edgy, or even inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Lace, metallics, and fur appeared on color palettes ranging from baby pastels to bold brights, with earth-toned
neutrals and ubiquitous black mixed in. OPI was in the midst of it all, providing complementing hues or pops
of colorfully-contrasting shades on the nails of spectacularly-fashioned models. Don’t Pretzel My Buttons
harmonized with Grabriela Perezutti’s romantic feel as well as Lauren Moffatt’s sporting country chic. Moffatt also

chose OY—Another Polish Joke! and Glitzerland to add color dimension. Chloë Sevigny selected My Very First
Knockwurst to add a warm neutral complement to eclectic designs. MonSooner or Later added a bold pop of
color to Jenni Kayne’s collection mix of camel, black, nude, emerald and gold. OPI’s go-to shades Samoan Sand
and Black Onyx were on hand for designers Katharine Polk and Karen Walker. Walker also used new OPI Matte
Top Coat to give nails an edgy finish to match her overall collection – a look also seen on BCBG MAXAZRIA models.
Finally, the metallic sheen of Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous and My Private Jet set off the black, gold, silver, and
bronze dresses, and the jewel-toned designs by Joanna Mastroianni.

SAFETY FIRST!
At OPI, maintaining a safe workplace is top
priority and nobody knows this better than nineyear old Nathan Schaffer, son of OPI employee,
Julie. When the American Society of Safety
Engineers sponsored a “Safety on the Job”
poster contest for kids, Nathan’s “I -got-this”
attitude got him busy designing a poster
showing what could happen in a nail salon if basic
safety rules are not followed. Obviously, mom
taught him well. Good job, Nathan!

OPI’s own International Guest Artists Danny Phung and
Vu Nguyen teamed up in Paris to host an education
update for OPI France distributor AD Beauty. More
than 75 educators, nail technicians, and staff received
in-depth training on Axxium, GelColor, and Absolute
with a special segment on GelColor nail art. Alexandra
Falba, AD Beauty head educator reports that all were
delighted to get the chance to take their knowledge to
the next level with Danny and Vu’s kind attention.
DANNY IN DENMARK
OPI Distributor Trademade Cosmetics in Denmark hosted
demonstrations and hands-on technical segments during a twoday training for their in-house Educators. International Guest
Artist Danny Phung was on hand to train Educators on Axxium,
Clarité, GelColor, Manicure and Pedicure systems.
